Bill Plummer was the bass player for Tom Waits Closing Time album (though weirdly not on the title tune) which was recorded at Sunset Sound at the same time as the Exile recordings. I wonder if it was a case of "Is there a bassist in the house?" type of thing? Was this where Keith and Tom began their relationship? Very interesting, but can't find anything to corroborate.

It's a shame it hasn't been updated for years, but it maintains the information it compiled long ago and remains one of the best sites in its field. Yes, Revelations is an amazing site as well. Hello everyone. Does anyone recall another book (or website) about the 72 tour that was written by a gentleman who's name escapes me, but he was a professor or librarian at San Diego State? I remember that it was a date by date format and he was really focused on Keith's shirts as this was his method for matching up un-labelled pictures to the correct show date/city (or am I mis-remeber

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotespunky No concert on video? Eh, there already is. From the Vault: L.A Forum (Live in 1975) The live album is from the Sunday show, the DVD is the Friday show. LOVE YOU LIVE is, tour wise, all from 1976 except Fingerprint File, IORR and SFTD. However, only If You Can't Rock Me and You Gotta Move are truly live; all the rest of the tracks have overdubbed vo

Here is an interesting dive into Charlie's work on Beggar's Banquet. It's cited in the DEEP dive about Charlie's tempo analysis in another post, but thought it deserved it's own post. I tried to get the PDF download, but it wouldn't work for me. If anyone else has success with it, it would be easier to read. The Drummer's So Shattered

QuoteTestify Come on...I always thought those auditions were just a ploy by Mick to get some guitar variety on their album, that way it was free. Ronnie had been with them since the 75 tour....it was the most natural choice. Mick is really a genius for getting free contributions. The auditions and Mandel\Perkins contributions were all recorded before the 75 tour, right?

QuoteMadMax QuoteAntoineParis QuoteRocky Dijon QuoteMathijs Nope, we don't know for sure. They tried out several pianists, Ian McLagan came very late to the rehearsals and these recordings are from fairly early on. This player certainly isn't McLagan or Stu. Nico Zentgraf mentions Bernard Harvey, and also Chuck Leavell is mentioned to have joined for a day. Mathijs That was 1981,

Absolutely fantastic tune. Tragic that it didn't get the attention it deserved, ie. a place in the live repertoire. Coulda been a contenda.

Quotemicha063 Yes, his guitar playing on Hackney Diamonds is fantastic. His playing has grown. Since 2012 he has become a very important part of the sound of the Stones. Like he used to be from 1975 to 1982. And I think it's also truth, that he is one reason for the fact, the Stones are still rolling. I'm glad to se him growing because I always liked his music a lot and I have sympa

I'm trying to find an app that measures tempo and my initial efforts have been disappointing. They can't pickup live tunes. Specifically, I'm wondering about GOMCloud from last night. I thought they really nailed it but I've seen others say it was too slow. I thought with Steve Jordan, he would just lock in the original bpm and go with it, but I'm not musical enough to re

Dear Bjornulf, Thank you for the work you've done and the life you've led. IORR has been a part a centerpiece of my world since the mid 80's. I used to go to Tower Records in Sacramento to get the magazine and spent one of the most exciting nights of my life standing next to you in London, waiting to get tickets to the Brixton Academy show. I've been a daily reader on the web

Quotedrewmaster QuoteMKjan The US figures are not very surprising despite B&L sales and a great concert history. We live in the United Mistakes of Amnesia, and that's a shame. I don't think the title helps. Most Americans (myself included) haven't heard of Hackney. Not to mention Fulham. Drew Agreed. Smash n Grab would've been so much better, IMO. Very in the news

Love this kind of musical treasure map search! I had a bit of difficulty with Dreamy Skies because of the Short and Curlies echoes. Really like the tune overall though, and it has become less distracting the more I listen to it.
