QuoteTopi Yeah, I mean, B.B. King used to perform sitting in a chair in his last touring years. And he did it until he was, what, 88? 89? But Gerard is right, it's a lot different. only for Mick is it physically demanding. And he's in good shape. An anomaly yes, but that's a fact. plexi

QuoteTopi I personally don't think the Stones themselves will ever announce a "final"/"last" show. Not even if they fully knew/planned that it would be their last one. (Whether AntoineParis has solid info on 2023 Wembley being the last time ever, I have no way of knowing - but I don't believe the band is ever going to say that "this is is it".) And n

QuoteRocky Dijon Personally, I agree with much of what you say. This isn't a thread about Darryl's playing, it's a thread about a Darryl Jones documentary started by the makers of the film who have now backed away from the largest Stones message board because of the reception they received. This isn't the first time. It's the same reason Bill German and Lawrence Peyse

How about that video of a complete show from Oakland either 1994 or 1997 which I think was made from the footage that the video guys took for the large screens, kind of the equivalent of soundboard, just that it was video instead of audio. Or correct me if I am wrong in some of that. plexi

Thanks for posting that TV interview clip, Cristiano. What a flat out, down to earth, super nice guy he is. And totally humble. He may not be Bill, but Bill is not Darryl, or anyone else. In 2019 after the Santa Clara Bay Area show, we went to the 4 Seasons Palo Alto after the show to the bar/lounge area, and most of the backing band was there. I was taking my-then 5 year old granddaughter arou

Quote24FPS QuoteCooltoplady Quote24FPS QuoteCooltoplady Quote24FPS I hope it covers Darryl's inability to switch from successful jazz bassist to a credible rock bassist. At least not with the Stones. So you know better and more than Charlie, Keith and Mick. Yes. I'm the one who has to listen to it, and it's subpar at best. He started out okay, but then went off in some nebulous

Yes, Out of Control and Saint of Me are great songs. Saw them in Albuquerque and twice in Oakland on this tour. I seem to remember they played Starfrigger at one of the Oakland shows as a song vote choice, first time I'd heard them play that in many a year, and never since. I was very happy when that was announced as the choice, but seem to remember that it was only OK when they played it.

How was Frank able to go so far and finish his movie without the Stones knowing about its content and what he was doing til after it was complete? Did they just give him carte blanche to do whatever he wanted and didn't keep track of things and were wakened with a rude surprise when it was finished? plexi

I happen to be in LA on business in mid October, so the night after the Bill German book signing and Shidoobee party in Hollywood, I plan on seeing Willie Nelson in Irvine on the 16th. How old is he now, 89? Better do it now. Then in between this show and the next, we have tickets to see the 49ers and the Chiefs at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on the 23rd in my beloved Bay Area and tha

I just opened the online edition of the Billings Gazette (Montana) not far from where I live to find an article about a new film about Robert Frank titled “Every Hundred Miles (Across America with Robert Frank)." It's about a 3 day road trip across America that one of the filmmakers took in 1975 with Robert Frank. It notes that the Stones film made three years earlier was to have been a

I'd say probably but it should start to cool down so will be tolerable. Right now they're saying high of 78, mostly sunny with a few cloids, and 22% chance of rain, overnight low of 57.

I wonder if final rehearsals will be at the stadium in St. Louis. In Dublin 2018 which was the tour opener, they had a couple days rehearsals at the venue Croke Park. I was lucky to be outside the stadium for the second one where as I recall, they played for about an hour and included songs that were not played at the show. The gig itself was the next day. plexi
