I'm sort of glad this question is out there, because it's pretty personal for me at this point. I live by the river, in Brooklyn Heights--within easy walking distance of Saturday night's show. And entirely by coincidence, my brother will be here from San Francisco on that evening. Like me, he's a freak for the Stones and we've seen them together all over the country an

Quotewinter I don't see them letting Clapton or Florence play on the same numbers as the earlier guests on Sunday. Florence will sing on a song that is not GS. I'd like to see MT get another chance at MR now that he's had a chance to get used to what to expect. The Florence Welch thing is intriguing. "Moonlight Mile?" "Lady Jane?"

Wonderful, wonderful guy. He had a sense of excitement and possibility that helped sharpen The Who's artistic assault on the English class system and on the moral and sexual hypocrisies of their day. After The Who, his sense of decency and again, of possibility, made him a leader in the treatment of addiction and trauma. He was a lovely and always dapper presence in New York City and out

Very cool song, background vocals rules. No, it's certainly not another "Indian Girl." Love it or hate it, (I'm in the former camp), "Indian Girl" was a departure, with cre

QuoteRocky Dijon Maybe it just comes down to the "Some Girls" controversy back in 1978 when Mick responded, "if you can't take a joke, too @#$%& bad." Here's the joke--on you, on Max's and whoever else has been "applauding" Penguin's pathetic little project. It's 2012 and the man has served almost a full term as President of the United S

While the title is terrible--why on Earth would they pick a title that's silly to say out loud?--I'm sort of pleased by the tasteless cover art. It seems a throwback to the mid-70s.

Disappointed to see no mention of unreleased tracks or even of rarities. Alas, my hunch is that there'll be some on the bonus disc of the "super-deluxe" box. That'll probably hook me into buying a big package for a few nuggets. Picks for the day: "Pretty Beat Up," "I Don't Know Why," "Always Suffering," and "The Storm" Whoo

Funny about "Harvest Moon." If you listen closely, it suggests the preservation or the reconnection to a long relationship that has seen some wear and tear and some drift. He talks fondly about the beginning of the affair and then notes the passage of time and sets a contrast to the present, "but it's gettin' late now..." and "I wanna see you dance again..."

There is some fine, and very atmospheric work there, but the... record lacks any real sense of Jamaica. "Waiting on a Friend," even without Sonny Rollins, would have helped so much... So does that

Quotedrewmaster This one gets my vote for the most forgettable and disposable track EVER recorded by the Stones. An utterly useless piece of filler. Funny. Everything else ranged from pointless to embarrassing ("Let I

I guess my feeling is that many Stones songs are "underrated." I mean, how could anyone overrate, say, "Jumpin' Jack Flash," or "Waiting On A Friend" or "No Expectations or "Get Off Of My Cloud?" On balance, I think Emotional Rescue is the most underrated Stones album. With all the years and all the listening to the Stones as well as to so

Quotetomcasagranda Some clarity is needed on this. The cover of I'm Movin' On was learnt, not from Hank Snow, but rather from Ray Charles, who recorded it as one of his final Atlantic sides. I think it is the B side to I Believe To My Soul, if memory serves. Certainly Keith has stated that the Stones all loved Ray Charles: Mick, Keith, Brian, and Bill were fans of his Atlantic soul/b
