QuoteMadMax Cirkus Stockholm 2003 and I had the best spot in the house apart from being on stage. The next to the last time they finished with Sympathy. Last time was at Werchter in 2007 and yours truly was there too, at the front. Happy days! Cirkus Stockholm 2003 was my case as well.

It is an impossible task. For there are so many, many more songs that are amomg their five best. The only choice left to me is either to abstain or to mention earliest candidates to their five best. - So here goes "Tell Me" "Little by Little" "It's All Over Now" "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" "What a Shame" (Maybe I even have fo

There was an outtake "Looking Tired" in addition, which I think was from those sessions. And a projected album never to be was COULD YOU WALK ON THE WATER? What I do not know, is whether this was to include only some of the songs in the opening post or (almost) all of them. Both alternatives I have read about over time. Other more informed posters will certainly know.

Quotematxil ……………… I don't hate any Stones albums. There is at least one I never play (Between the Buttons) and some which have horrible stuff on them but also some good stuff (TSMR and DW obviously) and then there are some which are okayish, like a tepid shower or a York ham sandwich without cheese and pickles. Most albums post DW are okayish, playing it safe but without being exciting

Not quite so R&B-oriented as their version of the Chuck Berry song, "Around and Around", I have all the same always loved the cover of this song from the Stones, which I in its time obtained from the German Decca compilation AROUND AND AROUND. That compilation along with their first album, according to the UK catalogue, I think constitute the first peak in the career of the Rolling

As I have written in another thread: This is a rock'n'roll song. But what makes the original studio version from the Rolling Stones so great to me, is that the Stones play it as a rhytmn and blues song and with such a feel. That makes it stand apart from their other covers of Chuck Berry songs, at least to me.

Quoteblivet Quotesteenhorst "I Just Want to See His Face" This track is one of my favorites, and this perfectly illustrates why I won't be participating (although I will follow with great interest). I think the Stones must be unique in how so many people who all identify as fans of the band can disagree so dramatically as to the relative quality of the actual music. I just don'

If I may be allowed to OT here. While one is still down, I would suggest the last song on the album CLOSER by Joy Division with the title, "Decades".

QuoteDoxa Of the deluxe tracks this is the one I think is the most 'Tattoo Youed'. Jagger took the old out-take and updated it to fit his mouth here and now, not even trying to copy the 'original'. I like his fragile and smooth delivery in the early versions - there is a peculiar charm there - but the new, finally finished version has the Tattoo You-like determination, the dud

QuoteRisingStone Sweet Black Angel and I Just Wanna See His Face, the latter in particular, are part of EOMS’s charm in a similar sense Why Don’t We Do It On The Road and Revolution 9 are for The Beatles AKA the “White Album”. These tracks contribute to the fascinating chaos both albums represent. To me those two pairs of songs are widely apart in approach, feel and role. And so are to me also

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteWitness I am one of those that will not, not even as a speculation, have EMOTIONAL RESCUE (or UNDERCOVER) touched in any way. Yes those are two very solid productions. Up there with Black and Blue. All right, only that to me BLACK AND BLUE does not count as a major Rolling Stones album.

My nomination of one "filler" only, GasLightStreet, was according to treacle's use of the term in the first two paragraphs of one post. Take a look at that post in case. "Now I've Got a Witness" is not post-1989, but belongs to their first UK album and apparently is also on the first album from the London Records that you had in the USA. Besides, I do like that track

QuoteGasLightStreet The culture of this thread is about songs on (a) Stones album(s) that seem Redundant/Pointless (should seem obvious, perhaps genre-boring, not flushed out) Boring (subjective and different from redundant and pointless although not much) Rambling/Endless (keeping up with the times or no creativity, just noise) By-the-numbers-we're-the-Stones (classic filler but prob

Quotetreaclefingers Filler on an album was standard until the Beatles arrived and created product that stood as artistic choices. Which didn't mean, to Skippy's point, that some of those choices couldn't be poor choices. So filler literally means songs created to "fill the space" on an album to justify it's release. It's lazy. "Let's do a son

There's a ton of material with Charlie which means certainly there could be more new albums released between 2025 and 2030. However since they recorded new versions of some 2015 songs with Steve Jordan for HD it's u
