QuoteRollingFreak QuoteGasLightStreet Oh boy. You're way off in regard to Ronnie. He's all over SOME GIRLS, EMOTIONAL RESCUE and UNDERCOVER (not so much TATTOO YOU but still there - No Use In Crying, Neighbours, Hang Fire, Black Limo - the SG and ER session songs). Not sure why you'd say that. He 70/30 disappeared from STEEL WHEELS through BRIDGES. Its not meant as a dig at Ronnie

Marvellous reading, GasLightStreet! One vital objection though. You are leaving out what went before. That is, their first period as R&B band. Thereafter, their phase as a progressive popband with three albums (one of which we know that you do dislike) and a string of defining "noisy" single A-sides with great B-sides as well.

I abstain from looking at the videos. So how can I judge? But from the rather scarce concerts that I have attended over the decades, compared to many others here, (I have sought not to drown my earliest concert impressions from before 1990), I do not experience them during the concerts I have been to, as dead, far from it. All the same, I have felt them as a routine, highly competently delivered

QuoteTravellinMan For me, it's Down in the Hole. For me, probably this is the choice. I can't give link with this mobile. But apart from the Track talk for the song, there was once a thread called "Down In The Hole", started October 19, 2021. On page 2 of that thread, you may find a post from BitchKeepsBitchin. Well worth to search and read, I think, in relation to this

Quotegeorgie48 QuoteMathijs Quotegeorgemcdonnell314 I just have to say this. The one thing most folks do not understand. The Rolling Stones would never be what they are today without Brian Jones. It is a shame he is not recognized for his input to the band. Look at what we all want to hear as fans........ the music from his era. The Mick Taylor years were there peak but without Bri

My impression is that the shoegazer scene at that time was far more important background for Blur to develop as band, although going in another direction.

Quotetreaclefingers .......... I do have a question and this is not asking you to "justify" anything as we like what we like. It's more that you have Tattoo You and Dirty Work at the same level...I can personally understand the relative disdain for Dirty Work but wonder what it is about Tattoo You that turns you off? Just very curious. Thx Witness. treacle, look at thre

Not now, treacle. I have written about TATTOO YOU before, but not so often (I prefer to do posts, where I can be positive). Whereas I have not yet, apart from this thread, given my views on HACKNEY DIAMONDS at all. (I have lately been in a period, when I do quite few posts.)

Certainly we have always understood that to create this site, was a major achievement, a feat. What we are more slowly learning in the recent weeks, as we have been brought to think more thoroughly through it than earlier, is that to have managed this site and especially its forum over the years, is a major achievement as well. I want to join all others in thanking you, bv, for that. Then I wo

Probably some sense there, GasLightStreet. If they are able to do it, it should be a privilege for them once again to tour an album as much as possible, given the apparently positive reception over all to HACKNEY DIAMONDS.

What would then have happened to Brian Jones early on? Could there have been a different Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys, possibly also under another name? Might Brian have been able to recruit other band members therefrom? Could this have resulted in a blues band that never obtained a record contract? Instead played blues oriented concerts round London and disbanded after a couple of years?

QuoteDoxa QuoteWitness QuoteDoxa QuoteMathijs The production always was a bit dated, but for the last couple of years it has aged quite well. The production of Hackney Diamonds is closer to Undercover than anything else. Mathijs I find this an interesting claim. But with respect, I need to disagree to an extent. As far as production goes, I think UNDERCOVER is not very cohesive albu
