I'm going back and forth between a few episodes of Seinfeld and the Glastonbury show, especially this number. This is definitely my favorite version from '89 onward. And I still say that this, together with Satisfaction from that night, is among their best encores this side of Bill Wyman.

Ronnie's first solo from that 1976 video is one of my favorites. And I'll definitely take that over Perkins' solos from the studio version or any boring old thing Mick Taylor would have done. This song is also a top contender (in my book anyway) for "greatest Rolling Stones bass lines". Bill is absolutely on fire here.

No Expectations Hey Negrita Waiting on a Friend I'd also like to hear things like Angie and Beast of Burden. I know they're not obscure per se, but they're certainly not warhorses either.

A thought occurred to me today while listening to LA Friday. I skimmed all 6 pages of this track talk and didn't see it mentioned. Why is is that on pretty much every live version from TOTA onward, Ronnie sings the chorus with Mick? It's the only song where they do that, but they always do it.

The '78 version is my favorite, though Ladies and Gentlemen is a close second. As far as the band goes, Bill and Charlie were never better than in 1978, and Keith was in tune for once. I suppose I put Taylor's solo's from '69 and '72 slightly above Ronnie's from '78, though I much prefer Ronnie's slide in this version with Faces from 1971 to both of those.

Page's solos were always my least favorite part of the studio version. It just sounds like noise to me. It's sort of a Ronnie solo, but without Ronnie's sensibility and touch. I'll also have to disagree with just about everyone on this thread so far. I think it sounded pretty good live. I actually prefer that live Toronto version to the album version.

QuoteDoxa But I need to say that I haven't ever rated mr. Wood very high as a guitar player. Or to say it in other words: he has never really sounded very strong guitar player having his own determination and call - there is something missing in his touch or sound that would capture my attention. Some kind of lack of personality (playing charmingly sloppy is not enough). This is strikingly

QuoteRomanCandle QuoteMrBobMartini I always thought Star Star summed up GHS perfectly. That is, a rocker that's just a bit more polished that I would have liked. The smoother approach to this album fit some songs like Winter and Coming Down Again, but just made some of the others (like Mr. D and this one) sound a bit weaker than they could have been. Quoteflacnvinyl Guitars: The tones themselves are not terrible, they just sound like the engineer did nothing. To my ears, it sounds like the engineer just threw an SM57 on the cab, hit record, and then never bothered to EQ it at all. Ronnie rules at rhythm too... They should've double-tracked rhythm, spaced the guitars out alot. I absolutely love Woody's tone on this LP, especi

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteMrBobMartini 1234 is probably my favorite Stones solo album, but it's constantly criticized for bad production. I never see anything specific written about it though, just that the mix is bad. I think it sounds great, but then Ronnie's my man, so maybe I'm biased. Those of you who dislike the production, what specific problems do you have with it? Not

This track is one of the reasons that Live in Texas is my favorite Stones concert film. I think it's also quite possibly the peak of the Watts/Wyman duo.

I think it' a nice little song, but that's it. Jagger's rythm guitar is more notable to me than Taylor's solo, which just never spoke to me the way it apparently does to other people. Bill and Charlie are on fire though.
