If we're talking about the same backstage photo...the band along with Billy Preston and Ollie Brown, all from the waist up, in front of a white background...yes. That's Annie's photo for which I came to LA. I would guess she didn't get more than 5 or 10 frames off. The Twitter shot is an out take from the same sequence. In the shot that was published in Rolling Stone, Keith is

Quotedcba 1969Fan were you "around" when that shot was taken? (I've always loved it!) If you're referring to the LA Forum video shoot, yes. If you're talking about the b&w 1975 Philly shot I referred to in another thread of Keith playing in the foreground and Mick 3'in the air, mic in hand, behind him, no. I wasn't there. QuoteBrown Moses Very interesting comments 1969fan. Loving it. More please ;-) I'm with you on Brussels,in particular the boot with GS & SFM from the London shows. Backstage those 5 nights at the Forum were 'A' list affairs. I was in way over my head and stayed out of the way. Keith did his best to avoid Bob Dylan, who I was told was a fan. Quotedcba Quote1969Fan I assisted Annie Liebovitz, the 1975 tour photographer, at the LA shows, Fan, is it true she was even more wasted than the band during the TOTA? No. She was totally aware of the opportunity that was before her, and she took it very seriously. Annie is a genius and the Stones knew it. She did what she does best...taking time to gain the trust of her subjects, and getti

Quote24FPS QuoteLieB The booklet is fine, but the writing in it could have been more revelatory. That is kind of a drag, that we don't get any real background on this release. We don't know the origin of the tape. On Some Girls in Texas we got the back story that Mick hired somebody to film it, etc. On this DVD there are things crying out for more info, but we get only surface i

Quotejpasc95 anyone knows the show from July 12th ? I only have the shows from 9th, 11th and 13th. I was at this show. They used Don Kirschner's Rock Concert mobile unit to shoot and record it. I remember Mick stepping on his mic cable during the opening of BS. It's on the DVD. So I'm quite sure it's the same show. I don't think they videotaped and recorded 2 Forum sh

2nd show, LA Forum, Dec 8 1969. I wasn't a fan, so I took my trusty Bolex 8mm motion picture camera, loaded with a high speed Ektachrome emulsion so I would 'have something to do' during the show. BB King opened, followed by Ike & Tina Turner. The Stones took the stage around 2 or 3AM. The sun was rising as we headed for our cars after the show. I was blown away. I was going to

Quotetwo4fun111 hey 69, were they playing boogie woogie or what from what you can remember? Charlie was playing a snare with brushes. A slow loping groove. So it was probably a jazz number. Stu was a boogie woogie guy. But I suspect he shared Charlie's admiration and respect for jazz. The band was set up in the living room of a large house on the LI coast NE of Montauk. They'd s

But as well as Lawrence played in Brussels, I wonder why he didn't tour with them in later years. I don't think they had a horn section in TOTA, and Some Girls Live in TX '78 does not credit any horn players. E Wa

I mistakenly identified Nov 17 as the date for the iconic Brussels concert. Midnight Gambler is right. It was Oct 17, not Nov 17. I guess I'm getting old. But I've always been under the impression Bobby was on that recording...originally a King Biscuit Flower Hour FM quad broadcast...and assumed it was before Paris and the bathtub. If he wasn't Bobby Keys on sax, who was it?
