Today Fauci apparently said that by the end of next summer, he believes full stadiums will be able to happen. If I were the Stones, I'd just go ahead and lock in the dates in the September-November 2021 timeframe. I realize that's tricky because of football season, but they've done fall stadium tours before. Very unlikely the shows will be able to happen before that.

BV is spot on. I have friends that still think everything will be back to normal by next summer... they're not paying attention. This thing has SO MUCH momentum, it could potentially take YEARS to stop, even with the greatest vaccines. I don't even think it's pessimistic to say no concerts in 2021... I think it's just the way it is. I'd like to say I'm optimistic

QuoteMisterDDDD Mo money's still on mid to late 2021. But I am by nature an optimist, From today: Fauci says a Covid vaccine maybe ready by November but will take months to roll out Anthony Fauci has said that a vaccine against Covid-19 could be ready by next month, but that it will take several months for it to roll out. "I think we will know whether a vaccine is safe and ef

Yep, 2021 shows will not happen. Even with the vaccine supposedly available to the general public by April (I remain skeptical) it’s still not gonna turn around that fast. MAYBE the Stones could push their tour back to August-October 2021, but there’s no reason to even be optimistic about that.

The prior record was 2,569 deaths in the U.S. Wednesday, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of data from Johns Hopkins University. The number of new coronavirus cases on Thursday w

For some reason I just realized that if this leg does get postponed until next spring/summer, then Charlie will turn 80 as it's taking place!! Not that he won't be able to do it, I'm sure he'll still be playing just as good as he was at the last show in Miami 2019. But that just blows me away for some reason! I hope that all these shows go ahead, even if it is most likely

Quotecrholmstrom interesting development. the governor of washington has put cannabis stores on the list of essential businesses & they will stay open during the stay at home order. maybe he wants to keep the population sedated for a few weeks. I wanna be sedated...

Parts of the US have chosen Italy. I live in Ohio, and our governor had become pretty famous his overly cautious handling of this. We’ve essentially been on lockdown for over a week now.

QuoteJadedFaded In California, where schools are closed, we’ve been told they won’t reopen until the Fall. Yep. My wife is a high school teacher in Ohio. She and her co-workers are all operating under the assumption that they won’t be returning to school anymore during this school year (which ends around the first week of June). She is currently working from home, AND homeschooling our kid

In light of the CDC recommendation that all events above 50 people be cancelled for the next 2 months, I'd say that pretty much says it. What to do? Postpone the whole tour and try again in August-October? Try to salvage the existing July dates? We have no idea when society will resume again.

I too am looking forward to it. Reports of mixed reviews are disappointing, but I’m going with an open mind. I’ve never really listened to other people’s reviews anyway. Since Thanksgiving I have been watching through all the movies. I haven’t watched the prequels for a long time, so it was interesting to see them again 10 years later. I actually kinda liked episode 1 more than I remembere

I saw Motley Crue once back in 06, but I was mainly there for Aerosmith. MC put on a great show, but yeah Vince Neil really doesn’t have it anymore. Also, Tommy is an annoying loudmouth, and you can only hear him yell the F-word so many times before you just want to tell him to shut the F—-k up!! If this tour was coming to Columbus or Cincinnati I’d go, but since it’s not, I won’t be going.

QuoteStonedAsiaExile Stupid. Ok, @#$%& you. I was just thinking about ways to reduce carbon footprints, since that's what they seem to worried about. I even said that it probably wasn't financially viable, otherwise that's what people would do all the time. It'd work if they could just tour on a simple level like Chuck Berry used to, where all he toured with was a suitcas

I am entirely ignorant about these things, but I just had a thought. Wouldn't it be possible to use only local materials to build the stage in each city? Just send the specs to a competent design crew/construction company in the area and have the bones of the stage already built? Use local video screens. Use local sound/lighting equipment. That way, the only thing that needs to be trans

Possible US leg, taking into account cities that got shows in 2019, and to a lesser extent, 2015. Been reading reports that Metallica (who postponed their Australian tour) and U2 have been having some less than stellar sales in Australia. It’s not like U2 are going to be playing for empty stadiums, but tickets didn’t exactly fly off the shelves either. Perhaps this factors in Australia being a weeker market and the Dtones deciding to skip it.

You have to factor in seats behind the stage not being used. U2 played to 97,000 at the Rose Bowl in 2009. They returned there in 2017 and played 2 sold out shows, both at roughly 60,000. The difference is that in 2009 the 369 tour played to the entire stadium, whereas in 2017 they did an endstage show, which is the norm. U2 also played to about 35,000 at the Superdome. Guns n Roses did 32

In 1992, U2 played an outdoor stadium show in Denver on October 21st. From what I can tell there are no stories about it being miserably cold that night. Lucky, for sure, but it’s doable. In 1997, U2 played the same stadium on May 1st, and temperatures were below freezing with some snow flurries thrown in.

If the tour is pushed to late summer/early fall, they'll have to deal with football schedules and potentially cold weather. They've toured stadiums in the fall before without issue. The wording makes it seem like this is just an injury related issue he has to work through, not a serious medical condition. They seem confident the tour can go ahead eventually. Hopefully he makes a qui

My intro to the Stones was actually the music video for "Anybody Seen My Baby". I was 15, and before that the Rolling Stones, to me, were just a band that made those songs that were on the 60's/70's stations that my parents would listen to. Never gave them much thought. But after seeing that video, I became curious. I bought Hot Rocks and Bridges to Babylon, and that was p

As for the extra musicians, they have a keyboard player who kind of sits back next to the drum set, and an extra percussion player. The extra bass player comes out to perform on the song “Go Robot”, as it actually has 2 bass parts! I think I read that he’s actually a crew member who gets his time to shine every time they play that tune. Klinghoffer has really come into his own. I watched

Ticket sales don’t look that awful in most markets. I’m going to the Columbus show and it looks like it should be pretty filled up. Some shows are having trouble selling those “aisle seats” that are priced higher. Look for that more in the future from TM. Charging more for aisle seats.

Quite true. Watch a live version of Beautiful Day. The Edge is singing, but the band are also playing over a blanket of prerecorded backing vocals. It’s either that, or have a bunch of backup singers singing “Daaaaaaaaaay”. They first started using trigger samples during the first live performances of “Bad” in 1984. Since then it’s been a regular thing for them. Watch a live version of “One

This is a pretty good video of what everybody is talking about. He's clearly singing live, along with the album version of himself. He's wearing one of those tiny little microphones that rest on the side of your face. Depending on your angle and proximity, you might not notice that little mic. When he reaches the 2nd verse, the album version goes into the falsetto "No

Quotenick We all know what you get. You can complain about it or just go out and have a great night. Regarding sellouts, Giants Stadium 05 - 70,000 and 06 - 49,000. Both are sellouts. In 06 the upper deck was tarped out on both sides from the 50yrd line to the back. What is purpose of the tarps? Why is it a sellout? I looked up official figures of U2, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, Springsteen and e

This business of calling a show "sold out" when it's clearly below capacity is nothing new. Just block off sections, or don't put them for sale, and when you only sell 80% of the venue, just say "well that 20% was never onsale anyway". I agree it's stupid, but the business seems to have worked this way since sometime in the early '00s. There were ticke
