What is the definition of the average/casual fan? Someone who has at least listened to Sticky Fingers, Exile, Let It Bleed? Someone who only knows songs from Jump Back and Hot Rocks? Or only knows what they've heard on the radio?

These figures indicate that the shows might be "sold out", but in order to do this, AEG have had to drop prices significantly and are not making as much as they might have hoped. Maybe even relying on food/beverage/parking/merch to make a profit. 2012 shows (figures posted in thread by superglen): Average attendance per show = 14,740 Average price per ticket = $525 Average gross

When I was in my early 20s (now 33), I went to a Dinosaur Jr concert (widely known as one of the loudest acts out there), and I am 100% certain my ears were permanently damaged at that show. I thought damage was supposed to come from long term exposure building up, but I think that you can get damage from a short term blast of noise at a concert. Ears were ringing very loudly for days, but als

Quotetiffjagger QuoteHalup After having my suspicions in Anaheim that the Pit tickets were already predetermined and not random in the envelopes they were handing out, I confirmed tonight at Staples that that is the case. Tonight, they had you approach the table based on the first letter of your last name. The alphabet was broken up into about 4 different groups at the table. I went up there an

I thought Taylor was simply great on both tunes. Would love to see them keep playing these songs, each time it would get a bit better. And they might let his Sway finishing solo actually end properly. Going to be very interesting what they do with Taylor from now. I wouldn't be surprised if these were one-offs, or they might only reappear a few more times through the rest of the shows,

In that section of the show where they mix it up, maybe they could just have a rotation of songs from which Mick T can play one song each night. Take your pick from say Dead Flowers, Rocks Off, Bitch, Love in Vain, Street Fighting Man (seeing as they have played these), also Sway (seeing as they seemed to have rehearsed this). Maybe some others. If he only gets 2 songs, then fine, ditch him from

I nearly jumped into the Bellagio fountain when I was walking past and received the tweet via text message. I was horrified. But in all honesty, she wasn't really as bad as people want to believe. I'd prefer no guests ... but she performed well enough and was fine. I think the edited video the Stones put up makes it look worse than reality, which doesn't help.

I ended up in the nosebleeds for Las Vegas. Second last row of 206. I wouldn't say it was that random, when every single person in the last 3 rows in that section were $85. It was clear to me that they put most of the $85 into the purple areas on this map: . Maybe a handful got into the pit. But that's OK (under the pricing structure) ... last 3 rows $85, next 3 for $170, ne

I want to vote for ALL of them. Would make for a ripping concert. But I have to go with Sway. I'm sure the voting is a scam and they'll just play whichever one they feel ... but if they really have all these songs in their repertoire, they should be throwing 2-3 of these into the show each night.

I hope they have a completely different list for Vegas, meaning Fool To Cry is no chance of being played. Each to their own, but personally I can't stand it. Keith wouldn't be the only to fall asleep before it is finished. I'd vote for When The Whip Comes Down out of those San Jose options.

I would have thought Australia is probably the best place for them to sell tickets at high prices. Maybe not as high as what they are for the US shows, but they could still them for a lot of money. I'm from Perth, and there is a lot of wealth there. About the only economy which hasn't been ravaged, plus people are used to paying inflated dollars for international music acts. I liv

Pit tickets for opening show now $1100 on StubHub. Apart from a few exceptions, most of the other seats seem to still be over face value.

Quotedcba Quotetatters In related news, it looks as if the current Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour may be their last. Not a bad thing as their "Down Under" Spring tour wasn't that great... But i'm sure Europe will be better! Couldn't disagree more strongly. I'm from Australia (now living in Texas), but I was on holidays back home when the Horse played. Beyo

QuoteJumpinJackOLantern It's not a reach to envision the promoters offering the Stones the moon if they were confident they could still make a bundle. Which appears to be the case judging by the inflated ticket prices. It's hard for me to imagine the promoters putting that kind of pressure on themselves by offering the Stones so much that they would have to scramble to make a decent pro

Quotefredlynn19 who cares if the shows arent sold out? i dont. It aint gonna make me have a worse ime. i am still gonna be pumped and it isnt not gong to change how the stones play. A sold out crowd makes for more atmosphere and arguably a better show. Could also help the band play better. A band can feed off the crowd energy. If there is a half-arsed crowd, it won't be helping the S

They should have just done less shows in these cities, and played in some little places like Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, New York, etc. AEG probably took the Nov/Dec shows, and thought it would be easy money. Official Billboard figures were Stones sold 73,702 tickets, box office taking of $38,687,010. Works out to $525 average per ticket and $7.7 million per show. Will be interesting readin

Quoteflacnvinyl $1000 - pit tickets, done. Its exclusive, fine. $500 - best 25% of the seats $300 - 'most' of the seats in the venue $175 - good upper deck $100 - nose bleeds $85 - 1000 for every show THAT IS IT. Problem solved. I agree with you in principal ... but I'm not sure that leaves much margin for error to make a profit, and little upside. Let's ignore r

Quoteronkeith72 Its absolutely flawless with the exception that it didn't have 2 more live tunes from those shows, Under My Thumb and Satisfaction. Other than that, if i was stranded on a desert island and could only have 1 album of music to listen to, it would undoubtedly be Ya-Ya's!!!! Well, those tracks at least are available now from the reissue. And Satisfaction is fantastic.

For those people mentioning McCartney, for the Austin show the options include: Front row package - $2000 Hot sound package - $1500 (Rows 3-6, plus a load of junk) Gold hot ticket - $680 (a $277 ticket plus some crap $5 merchandise item) Silver hot ticket - $475 (a $167 ticket plus some crap $5 merchandise item) I tried instantly to get a $277 ticket ... but the best I could pull up were

I forgot when posting earlier that the Clippers are scheduled for the 30th (if Game 5 necessary, and I think it would be unlikely they sweep Memphis). So there could be the scenario that sports teams need the venue for 4 nights. They could put the Kings on the 1st & 4th and have the Stones play on the 2nd or 3rd, depending on the Lakers. If the NHL wants the Kings to play on the 1st an

I think it is quite likely the Lakers will get knocked out in 4 or 5, so the current May 2nd date might stand. It is still up in the air whether the Kings will start at home (it might come down to the last game of season on Sat night vs Sharks). But I'm not sure why they don't just assume that all 3 parties will need the arena and work out a schedule ... e.g. Kings 30th, Stones

Quoteflacnvinyl @Alfonz - StonesDoug (Shidoobee) and others have states that the GA and numbers means nothing. I am willing to bet that they are correct, but I still think it is interesting that there are actual seat designations for the $78 tickets. Checkout SanJose... But did anyone got tickets by selecting those specific designations (as opposed to just best available)? I tried to sel

Practicing for Chicago, I tried to explicitly select GA/Pit for Toronto, and it said no tickets available. I went back and just left it as Best Available, and then 2 tickets came up. Then I threw them back into the pool. Surprised how easy this was. I picked up a pair fo
