There's a few latter day tours which should still be covered in the vault series: 1989-tour, preferably a show with long setlist. 1999-European tour with Bridges To Babylon-stage, maybe Landgraaf or Wembley. 2002-Licks tour arena or/and theatre show. 2003-Licks tour theatre/club show, maybe Enmore theatre or Cirkus.

I would say around 1981-1999. He obviously tried to play faster in 1989/1990, sometimes it sounded great but sometimes a bit sloppy. One more sloppy example would be SFTD in Dallas 1989: . The solo goes on for too long with some licks played out of time and missed notes here and there. His style changed back to a more tasteful approach in 1994 with a more careful selection of notes and licks, of

QuoteDandelionPowderman The 2015-versions had the best sound from Keith, imo. Playing that riff with a dry Tele-sound, like he did up till then, didn't sound as good. I agree that his guitar sound was better in 2015. But his playing itself, the attack and timing was less sharp in those 2015 versions, and the beat was kind of just plodding along, compared to on the Licks tour. I still think

As for live versions the ones from 2002/2003 were without a doubt the best. It was fun to hear it again in 2013 and 2015 but all those versions were a bit too anemic and lacked the bite of the studio version. This song needs some aggressive riffing from Keith and tight powerful drumming, the closest they came to that was on the Licks-tour.

Seems to have been a good show. But watching a few videos I noticed some mistakes by Keith on JJF, YGMR and Monkey Man. The tempo was faster than usual on JJF which is great but unfortunately Keith started playing the chorus too early during the third verse:

QuoteStoneage Okey, before the setlist will be revealed I will take a wild guess at tonight's setlist. Please chime in if you want to: Your prediction is probably right but not very exciting. I'm hoping for something like: 1) JJ Flash 2) Let's Spend The Night Together 3) Tumbling Dice 4) Harlem Shuffle 5) Monkey Man 6) You Can't Always Get What You Want 7) Pl

Didn't they soundcheck Hand of Fate? It's a hard song to play but it would be fun to hear again.

Quotecoowouters Just came back from a BBQ, but tomorrow (it's past midnight over here) I will give some feedback and it will NOT be in favor of Daspy, Ed and other tapers aka hoarders. But I will make sure that the raw video tapes of some 19 pro shot video tapes I got from one of the Stones's video engineers will never make it to you as soon as I get the go from that person (talking a

I don't think Keith plays so much guitar between the tours, so when rehearsals starts his fingers are getting more used to a guitar again, during the first few shows he's slowly starting to feel more comfortable playing and halfway through the tour his fingers are ready again and the skills are coming back to him.

Thanks for this! These XAVEL releases never gives a flattering impression of their playing, but if someone matrixes this with an additional audience recording I'm sure it will sound great.

Mick's singing is great on this tour. In later years his voice has sometimes sounded tired during the later part of the show. One example would be Start Me Up from Glastonbury 2013 when it more sounded like he spoke the lyrics than sang: . Or London 2018 was even worse: . But on this tour his voice sounds good throughout the whole show. Start Me Up from Houston was great: . I think he

Quoteexilestones On a new Stones tour people would complain that the Stones play many of the same war horses again on tour. They didn't notice the changes in the arrangements. I noticed the changes. Sometimes I'd really notice after the tour with repeated listens. Lately, I don't notice any major changes. A post above did point out some changes. I have to agree since No Secur

Quotepowerage78 Interesting proshot... No sound filter. Yeah I wonder if they add some extra compression on Charlie's drums to make them sound more powerful through the speakers, which might be missing in this proshot. Also the lack och room reverb and audience sound makes the band sound less impressive.

Quotetrevormcmullin I have been saying for years that I wish the Stones would setup youtube live streams for every one of their shows, I would pay up to $100 dollars for every single one of them. Not saying I have that kind of money, but I would literally go without food to be able to watch everyone of their concerts live pro shot. Maybe if the year was 1999 or 2003 I would pay 20 bucks for a l

Quotephilrock90 I've read the next release is bridges to buenos aires Great news! The BTB-tour was fantastic. Maybe it would be more fun with a show from a smaller venue like Waldbuhne 1998 but I'll take Bridges To Buenos Aires anyday.

Quotekeefriff99 Gimme Shelter has been EXCELLENT on this tour. I know Keith flubbed the intro at one show, but generally speaking, the guitars have been really on point. Yesterday it started off a bit shaky in the first verse, but then gradually built up to a decent grove. Not fantastic, but a lot better than some other recent versions. Gimme Shelter hasn't been a highlight of the show

Quotepowerage78 He was far better in 2012. Yes he was better in 2012 but already then he did some mistakes similar to now, like when he botched the chorus in SFTD during the PPV-broadcast. Regardless of what people say I think Keith's playing was better on the Bigger Bang tour, both before and after the palm incident, than it has been since 2012. Maybe the layoff between 2007 and 2012 was

Ronnie has probably worked on the songs for this album since he released I Feel Like Playing in 2010. It's not like this album is something he quickly threw together this year. Excited for this!

Monkey Man - In Chicago it was rusted but it was their first try since 2007 so it deserves a second chance. Emotional Rescue - Was fun to hear once or twice in 2013 but it's just not a very good song and doesn't go anywhere live. Heartbreaker - This would be good to hear again, I think it was decent in Copenhagen last year. Get Off Of My Cloud - It's been played a lot in

Quotetorontostoner Just a question: Why all the hate for iorr (the song)? I think it’s a great anthem. Am I missing something? It was a great anthem, I love the versions from around 1975-76 and 1997-2003, but since 2012 it's just played way too slow and lacking energy. Of course the studio version isn't very fast either, but it's played with more finesse, Kenney Jones is sometim

Can't believe people are so obsessed over if they play 19 or 20 songs, big difference... Some of the best shows on the Licks-tour were only 19 songs so it seems very reasonable they play the same number of songs now 16 years later. I'd prefer if they play 18 songs and scratch IORR and Satisfaction from the setlist.

QuoteGasLightStreet I was waiting for a good one though - and the encore delivered it: Keith botched the entire opening of Gimme Shelter. Throughout the show I noticed something I've heard in recent live videos - Charlie seems to not only miss some snare beats but there's a weird moving of the timing in some songs, almost like someone bumped the machine. Overall it was underwhelmi
