I think maybe they heard it vis Bob Dylan's first album. Dylan also did House of the Rising Sun on that album, and In My Time of Dyin'.

Waiting For Columbus is a fantastic live album. Love Paul & Lowell's interactions on guitar, plus Mick Taylor also turns up on it.

I'm going to be contentious and say that Earth is his best album in recent years. Colorado is middling to good, but not great. Potentially, it could've been so much better.

I think this began with Mick's solo Japanese gigs in 1988. It's a shame that the road versions have ended. However, that doesn't mean that what they've been doing since 1989 lacks validity. You just can't imagine them doing what Dylan does on stage though.

Little Richard isn't underrated. What is underrated, however, are his post Specialty sides, such as I Don't Know What You Got, written by Don Covay, and hie Okeh northern soul. However, Richard also does an awful version of Brown Sugar.

Vassar also pops up on Richard (Dickey) Bett's amazing first solo album, Highway Call, and on the progressive bluegrass album, Old & In The Way. I like Earl Scruggs

Quotejlowe Not bad for someone who is 75 next year and said he was retiring from touring! Now we just need a new studio album. Albeit not produced by Simon Climie. EC needs to be taken out of his comfort zone. Live-wise he's still great.

Many years' back, at an auction house, John Wayne's toupe went for a considerable fee. I just wonder who inherited, or has anyone sold, Carl's collection of hair pieces. They're on a parity with Tony Bennett's.

I'm thinking it, the sessions with Harrison / Edmunds / Starr etc wasn't filmed at the Capital Theatre, but at a studio in Limehouse, London. Carl made some great recordings, post Blue Suede Shoes, post Sun too, i.e Restless, Big Bad Blues, Pointed Toe Shoes, etc, but seemed a wee bit too content to sit back at the sidelines. What used to annoy me about Carl was the pastel blue ju

I don't think Jerry Lee ever toured with the Stones. Bo Diddley and The Everly Brothers, yes. I think the first time the Stones met The Killer was on an individual basis. Mick Jagger met him in 1972 at a Wembley Rock'n'Roll Revival gig. Ronnie met him, with Bryan Ferry, in 1977, or thereabouts. The picture was reproduced in Hellfire by Nick Tosches, one of the best ever rock bi

Agreed. I've got the Rhino reissue from some time back, but will be considering the box set. It's a fantastic album, but so too is the Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark, White Light, and Gene Clark & The Gosden Brothers.

I think the reason Midnight Rambler is so great, live and studio, is that it proves The Stones are still badass. No matter how respectable they've become, once the opening bars of Midnight Rambler kick in then you know you are in the presence of something voodoo-esque.

I could've also thrown in Manassas - the first album by Stephen Stills, Chris Hillman, Al Perkins, Joe Lala, Dallas Taylor, etc. Another great double album, coincidentally recorded around the same time as Exile, and featuring one Bill Wyman on a track. Likewise I also think Eat A Peach by The Allmans is a double album, and nobody would want to shave tracks off of that.

Exile is like Tusk, The White Album, London Calling: it should never, ever be whittled down to a single album.
