Quoteshortfatfanny Quotemickijaggeroo Quoteskipstone Had no idea Mick had anything to do with the Jumpin' Jack Flash movie or the recording of a new version of it. You´re right,he did´nt, it was Keith together with Ronnie (at least in the video) who recorded a new version with Aretha Franklin. Damned, finally found what I had in mind.In this (german issue of this) book Steve Appleford

I'm with munichhilton: literally sick to my stomach....otoh, to go a bit off the deep end being philosophical, I suppose we do not have any tape (or very little) of so many amazing musicians over the milennia, plus it is not possible to capture and preserve every single precious moment of reality anyway.

Thank you so much for posting these! I've never seen them. Man, Keith and Mick T are so smacked! Keith is emotionally flatlining, just numb. If you doubt it, look away from the visually arresting video - and just listen to his voice. Yet, he still manages to be respectful to interviewer who's posing incredibly banal questions. And he seems self-aware enough to know that he's ta

Thanks for the lead on the Beatles book, SwayStones. Sounds interesting, and would give an idea of what the Stones On Camera/Off Guard might be like. I read a couple of articles about him last night. He is, as someone above suggested, a collector. He is a massive Hendrix fan, as well as Stones and Beatles.

The book/DVD looks like a must-have. Thanks for posting about it. The following is a hilarious Amazon review, written by someone named Mark Hayward (is he the author of the upcoming Stones: On Camera, Off Guard?) of Greenfield's "Exile on Main St: A Season in Hell etc" To me, if this review serves as a peak into the author's style, I'm preordering! ------------

Thanks for this great post. I've been saving it up all day, psyched to come home and take my time with this one! Live with me...there's that moment before the sax solo kicks in. First half of Soul Survivor is full of those moments. I know most people hate Angie--I don't--but the best thing about it is its silences ("But Angie. I still love you baby. Everywhere I look

Quotewith sssoul Stanley Booth's excellent book The True Adventures of the Rolling Stones mentions this little conversation about Linda Keith, but not that Keith said he had seen her in 68. Thanks! I own the book but didn't remember that part--I'll check it out! However, I almost mentioned this earlier, I do believe in the clip that's Stanley Booth in the satin jacket, si

Thanks for commemts. The video gets 6,000 views/day. Mick T does look so happy, being so new to the Stones! he and Jimmy are clearly enjoying playing together--they're both shy, and probably happier jamming than making small talk.

hi DGA35, yup, I read the clipping, and I believe it's wrong. After all, this is the same paper that just published the sensationalism about Mick Taylor. Not exactly known for its scrupulous fact-checking department. So I don't believe that's Suki Potier. It's Linda Keith. Take a peek. Linda Keith Brian and Linda Suki Brian and Suki Brian and Suki Bri

This is my first solo post, so please consider being gentle with me After re-watching the 1969 MSG backstage clips, I thought what a shame you can't hear the one audible conversation -- between Keith and Hendrix. I looked everywhere (that I know how to look) online, but didn't find an existing transcript. If one already exists, great. But I listened to it many times, and tra

Quoteboogie69 I've always thought that his break-up with Linda Keith is what led him to eventually become the person/persona he is famous for. If what I have read is true, it was quite heart-breaking, and he went from being somewhat naive and innocent (please note I said SOMEWHAT) to being determined to never let such a strong, emotionally painful experience happen to him again. In doing thi

In his own handwriting, a letter of apology from Brian to Linda Keith. Linda Keith, as we know and stated previously in this thread, being Keith's girlfriend 1963-66, as well as girlfriend and early fan/advocate of Jimi Hendrix, about whom he wrote several songs etc etc. The letter is on the Hardrock Cafe web site, which may make you download a crap Microsoft product (if you want to see B

hi...I'm a new poster. I love the Track Talk threads and want to respect the fact that someone may already have started a thread on the track I'm interested in ("Soul Survivor" ). I'd rather resurrect and add to an existing post than start a redundant one. When I search Track Talk Soul nothing comes up, but I know that search engines are often limited. I seem

I appreciate the background, and wasn't arguing, Addicted. Just saying the Stones/IT ratio didn't seem too outta control at this time, and I appreciate that. A lot. I also appreciate the OT convention, and personally not as interested in OT threads (though, of 48 OT threads in a week, 12 weren't marked as OT, so sometimes hard to tell). Also saying I didn't totally under

I'm new here, so not entirely sure what's meant by nostalgia threads, but I'm thinking a topic that might seem nostalgic or rehashed for some could be completely new for others. I did a quick analysis of all threads from the past 7 days (yes, I'm a geek...librarian, actually): Threads somehow related to the Stones: 143 threads OTs marked as such: 36 threads OTs not mar

As someone said above: each one is a slap in the face. Great sequencing! (often lost with release of albums as MP3s)

QuoteTurd On The Run I...was spending time in the Hamptons during that time (late 1970's / early 1980's). Spent a lot of time in 54 also and met Keith there in 1982 (as I posted earlier in this thread). I remember the parties out in the Hamptons (East Hampton, specifically)...where I met people like Halston and Bianca Jagger and Steve Rubell...it was a magical time to be there...wild

I met Mick. Here's an abbreviated version of what I posted on the same topic on another board. I hope this is appropriate, and not too long and/or trivial. I'm new to this board and feeling my way around. HOW I CAME TO MEET MICK I was 16. It was 1979 -- the annual Bastille Day party (July 14th) at writer George Plimpton's house in the Hamptons (i.e., then a cluster of vi

I see it as: at the time the song was written, people were prone to spouting inane slogans like "Life is for living!" (as well as there being a schmaltzy song, covered by people like Peggy Lee, by that title) and Ray takes that somewhat facile statement and says "um, OK...but what does that mean exactly? 'life is for living' is circular and doesn't answer the questio
