This is a really basic question but what is 5.1? what does it do the the sound quality of something? how does it change or improve it? how would it likely change the way Exile sounds? thanks! swiss

Is it possible they had a falling out...? I seem to recall reading Keith is not in contact with many people in the band anymore, but I may be confusing that with another of Keith's collaborations.

Quotestonesrule When The Rolling Stones have their tour dates firm I am thinking I should "hostess"an IORR party. Venue will likely be Amoeba Music (they don't know it yet but they like me). I will spring for "refreshments"...maybe even "prizes." Amoeba is in the heart of early Stones action. The RCA building is across the street on Sunset. Sunset Sound i

Tommy -- thanks! this is the kind of insights/opinions I wanna hear. I do think Victor Bockris interviewed a fair number of people directly but he also does acknowledge drawing from many existing sources. I thought Chris Needs book came out after Bokris? There is a lot of Bokris in Needs and vice versa, in any case

Great thread -- really fun stories! On my 10th birthday my oldest brother gave me 3 albums he said are important to have: (1) Let It Bleed, (2) Led Zep II, and (3) Hendrix's Are You Experienced? I almost never listen to Zeppelin, but the other 2 imprinted me indelibly and shaped my life. (I already had a fairly complete Beatles collection by then)

hi all, I just finished Victor Bokris' book about Keith. It was generally a really enjoyable read. I thought the addendum/update on the Bokris book wasn't totally at the same level of quality and depth as the first 400 or whatever pages, but that's ok. I'd read Chris Needs Keith bio right before that. Have also read Stanley Booth (both Keith bio and True Adventures of RS) a

hi...dear administrator. I'm honestly puzzled and a little hurt. I don't understand what the policy is about OT. Honestly, I don't. Why is it ok to make and post to a thread about women who are "hot" and not ok about men musicians? I think this is a very interesting board. I enjoy the conversations. And I have added substantively to some of them. I don't w

Carl, That story made my day -- thank yu so much for taking the time to write it down and share it. Also the person who met Keith at the Knit - also very cool. I don't blame you for not mentioning more details. For god's sake the last thing we as Stones fans should want is for Keith (or any of them) is to feel more hunted and less able to live a private life than they already do

QuoteCousinC As already mentioned, there is no more great material left! Many of the filmed stuff has been lost or is ruined. Like many of the recorded tapes from 60/70's. Sad but true. You sound pretty certain about this...where's your info coming from?

First: few thank yous -- then: update to what I've discovered (not much) Thanks with sssoul for the lead to the info about the film fest, the link, and the book -- if I can't get a truly definitive answer otherwise, I'll order the book from the library as you suggest (it could be embarrassing in this small town I live in). Thanks Honestman for the book excerpt. "z&qu

hi there! Word is the outtakes of Mick and Anita actually having sex (scenes that were cut from Performance) circulated as an actual film and won some European porn short film award in 1970. Is this urban myth or true? is the film (or outtakes) available? has anyone seen it? and if so, how/where? Has Jagger ever gone on record saying anything about this "film"? thanks, swis

wow...speechless...and thrilled! thank you both for posting. (was speechless for about 20 minutes - not anymore) hbwriter -- I'm loving your research. How @#$%& cool it was shot on Main Street (skid row) in Los Angeles. Perfect. All those skid row guys in exile, in a major goddamn way. As you say, in retrospect it's almost obvious, yet I wouldn't have known. Good sleuthing!

Quoteangee Wenner also mentioned John Lennon, with Dylan and Mick as the three giants of Rock. Apparently he doesn't think either Keith or McCartney are up there... I have heard him talk about the Beatles and the Stones before, as groups. At least last night he spoke about Mick some, and also...when Charlie asked if the Stones would tour again, Wenner said, yes, it's just a matt

ok, so Jann Wenner is on Charlie Rose (PBS talk show) and has been talking for 45 minutes about Rolling Stone the magazine, the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, and music. Interestingly, Jann Wenner has waxed poetic about Mick multiple times, featured vids with Mick in them, but no reference to Keith. He just cited "the most important living forces in rock" (or similar wording), as Bruce S

Oh what an odd, fun thread! So----to us women fans: what's hotter than a photo of a woman in a Rolling Stones' tshirt? (cuz there's at least a few women here----probably even the kind of women you guys actually know and truly like, as well as being cute and hot, and who you might have a chance in heck of actually $%^&ing ) So!! Here's a sample of what is hotter
