OK, so maybe it's not what I thought. Seems like they did do some outdoor night shows during 1970, 1972 and 1976. I thought maybe it was a conscious decision or something. Interesting!

I was just thinking....Altamont was of course outdoors, at night, a festival event. The real trouble happened after dark. Everything I see in pictures for 1975, 1976, 1978, and 1981-82 tours, the outdoor (usually stadium) shows all took place during the daylight. The Stones would typically come on around 5 PM or so, in the summer. Even most of the indoor shows in 1981 took place in the af

Thank you so much! I had always wanted to hear this show that opened with Midnight Rambler, then I forgot about it and stopped looking. Thanks!

Just curious....there are definitely two guitars here on these jams. The notes that came with my version said "Brian Jones and Bill Wyman are not present here" so who is the slide guitar (Keith?) and who is the rhythm guitar (Mick Jagger?) Or is it the other way 'round?

This is OUTSTANDING, easily the best recording of the tour so far. Brilliant work! I would love to hear this same iZotope RX-9, Music Rebalance plug-in be used to remaster some of the 2016 Ole South American IEM's, which have always been great musical performances but the vocals are always mixed too loud, to my ears.

Thanks for this. I have always kinda wondered if they taped Stevie's sets with the mobile rig on those Texas and Philly shows. Boy would I love to hear that!

So, for someone who doesn't have the time to wade through all 68 pages of this thread -- what is the general speculation on WHY the mini-tour is so short? Were more dates considered, but not taken? Did Charlie put his foot down? What is the short summary version of what we know so far? I had limited expectations for them in 2016, but knowing the Stones history of not really doing one-off

I think the beard was for purposes of laying low, just being able to move around New York or Paris or where ever, without getting stopped or bugged by photographers or celebrity hunters. When you are "visually famous" like that, if you think about it, it is a split-second moment in time, whether you are recognized or not. People see you, but it takes them a moment to really register wh

This bummed me out! I loved that guy's drumming. Love his playing on Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster" ever since I first heard it.

As was pointed out upthread, Chuck is the main man to watch here. Other sidemen/women are easily replaceable, but there's no way they do it without Chuck. Gilmour on the other hand, can continue to tour *without* Chuck, so I'm thinking there must have been some type of conversation with the Stones camp, to clear Chuck's calendar to go with Dave. In my opinion this announcement of C

I really REALLY wish they would release (or someone would "leak") whatever the ORIGINAL, untampered, unoverdubbed, unfinished, actual "whatever it was when they left it alone in 1972" version, without the vocals and overdubs. I'm mainly just dying to know what it was originally like. That's never surfaced anywhere, so far -- right? I've never been able t

Am I the only one who feels like it really doesn't matter WHAT ORDER THEY PLAY THE SONGS IN? If they are gonna stick to warhorses, and things the fans know, that's fine, but how about they MIX IT UP A BIT??? They could OPEN up with the dreaded "Miss You," and because of the element of surprise, people would likely say it was a great show, and fall in love with the so

Obviously it's not meant to be "literal" line for line, but the more I listen to it, the more I start to think that yeah, "Trouble" could be about this whole thing from 2011 with Theodora. The "doing 2 to 4" line is actually FUNNY, it's a JOKE -- if you consider that she was in jail for a couple of hours, and she probably called him up or had someone ca

Quotekeefriffhards Just played Trouble for the 50th time and i have a hunch this is about Mick on some level. He wrote this before they got back together to tour for 50th celebrations Really? I don't think so. How is Mick in jail? If anything, I think it could be more likely about Theodora, having her little run-ins with the law ("back in jail again").) Or maybe about a woman he

As far as WHEN Mick took control, my vote would be for: During the completion of Sticky Fingers. The line in the album credits thanking "everyone else who has had the patience to sit thru this for two million hours" -- I've always felt that was pure Mick, it sounds exactly like his humor, like something he would say. I think I could even get more specific, and mention al

I think that many of the dates on this tour are meant to be migrational, and encourage travel from other places -- an event where the concert serves to pull fans in from surrounding areas and metropolitan centers, to bring them to the Stones instead of the Stones going everwhere. Fewer shows, with higher yield audiences. Makes sense. For instance Milwaukee, on its own, is nothing really spec

Quick question: I haven't bought the set yet. Can someone please confirm that the "Brown Sugar" alt with Eric Clapton, is it the exact same version as the one widely known on bootleg? Any mix differences? Any editing? Thanks.

People who are saying that Taylor "couldn't possibly stand in for Richards" or that he didn't know the songs, are missing the point entirely. He was never intended to stand in for Richards. He never rehearsed in that role. It was never meant to be a thing at all. It was just something they concocted to get the insurance people off their back, and GET the insurance coverage, a

Question: Onstage you guys make about $330,000 per SONG, in a typical show. Since you have more money than you can possibly ever spend, in multiple lifetimes, how about on one show on this tour, you guys can dedicate ONE song -- let's say "Brown Sugar" in Milwaukee -- to me, and give me the money from just that one song, since I'm such a greeeeeat interviewer, yunno, and I

I'm looking at them and it strikes me there is a lot of thought behind these rumored set of dates...there are a lot of "migrational" type dates, ie Buffalo which covers a range of everything from Cleveland to Hamilton to Toronto, or Milwaukee which isn't just Milwaukee, but canvases the territory of Chicago, Green Bay, even Minneapolis. Raleigh NC is by itself, kinda not real

The New Orleans Jazz Fest could not afford the Stones. They have limits on how much they can pay and also limits on their city noise levels, infrastructure and the size of crowds that they can handle. They can't go after dark and they certainly could not accommodate the screens or tongue catwalk or anything else the Stones would want to bring. They are also limited a lot by the owners of the

I love the 1975 photo of Keith Moon in the "Extracts From The Book" section, where he has the very conspicuous Brandy Alexander on the table in front of him! A lot of trays of those going around, back in those days!

Sounds a bit like they are kind of borrowing slightly from the Stones model of 2002, with multi-night stands in towns, more than one night in a city, maybe making the travel a little bit easier on the band, and putting a bit of variety in the set lists? Remember how the Stones hyped it that way, in 2002, that you were getting a different type of show? If you start U2 from the beginning of the
