I realize that this may sound weird, but every time I listen to this I want to hear horns on this track (thinking Beatles Savoy Truffle style horn lines). Still, love the energy on this one quite a bit.

This may be my favorite track on this album after 5 or so go-arounds with it. I love that they are going back to that pared down, country, acoustic sound, and they still can do it beautifully. So much feeling and emotion in this one. And the break towards the end followed by Mick's harp solo. Lovely! The D-C-G chord progression that this song employs is pretty common in rock and roll... S

Without an audience, I think it would be hard to get the energy level up to Stones levels for a live performance. However, I think something like the stripped sessions, or blue and lonesome tracks, could work, from a soundstage / studio.

It is my understanding that Portland Meadows is being redeveloped as condos, and is closed. Saw the Grateful Dead / Chuck Berry there back in '95, and a number of other shows, and it was hot, dusty, crowded and fun. We do have Providence Park in downtown Portland (Major League Soccer, or football as the rest of the world knows it) with a capacity of about 25k, but I don't think they

Thanks! Some cool stuff from '69... I'd love to have these in an official release, although a lot of the live stuff seems to be "bootleg" quality, and not multitrack soundboard recordings. But then again, maybe a Zappaesque "ban the boots" type release after all these years? Doesn't seem that likely. Weird that it would have the abkco copyright notice though...

Still waiting for my Seattle poster I ordered maybe a week after that show. I reached out in mid October, and this was the response I got... "Thanks for contacting us! Unfortunately, a production delay has affected your order and we do not currently have an expected time-frame for when this will ship. We are so sorry for the inconvenience! As soon as we receive an update regarding your

I think the guitar driven live versions of Sympathy for the Devil from the '69/'70 and '75 tours are far superior to the post 1989 drum loop track / piano thing they do now.

John Prine this Saturday... Very excited for this one, even with the "Stones Drop" that I'm experiencing now following the shows this summer.

Man, I don't know what it was, and it's all probably very subjective, but I feel like there was something very special in the air at the Seattle Show. While Keith doesn't play (technically) or move like he used to, he seemed so present and dialed into the music, and the energy he channeled was fantastic. I was at 1st night Chicago, as well as the first MetLife show, this summer, wh

I saw Satan & Adam open up for Bo Diddley back in the early 90's in a small club in Burlington, Vermont. I remember being really impressed, and I always wondered what the backstory was with them. Now I'll know. Thanks for posting.

QuoteHMS There will never be a better intro than the instrumental part of "Continental Swift". The mother of all intros - taylor-made. First time I saw the Stones, at the age of 16, was at Shea Stadium on the Steel Wheels tour. The moment in time when Continental Drift ended, the pyrotechnics went off, and Keith ripped into SMU is forever imprinted in my head. This stands out as one o

Quoteslewan Quotemjmjr question for those that have been in pit in stadium setting......would it be ok for a 12 old in the pit? problem might be that pit means standing for 2-3 hours I was in pit 2 in Chicago last night, and was scoping that out because I have pit 1 for Seattle an plan on taking my 12 year old (who's just shy of 5' tall). I was thinking that the best tactic would

+1 for seeing these guys. I caught them last fall in Portland, OR, and the trio format really was a great vehicle for highlighting Weir's very unique style of guitar playing. Jay Lane was great of course, and I really was impressed with Don Was on the upright bass. Super tight, and lots of feeling... I had no idea he could play like that. Probably my favorite GD related show I saw since Jerr

I'm taking my oldest, who is 12, to the Seattle show. It'll be his first Stones show, and he is really psyched, and someday he'll consider himself very lucky to have seen these legends of Rock. I haven't taken him to any big stadium shows before (I think a show in a 50k+ seat venue requires a certain amount of self-sufficiency... in terms of being able to head to the restroom

Just echoing stickyfingers101 here... I saw Lisa & Grand Baton earlier this year in Portland, Oregon. It was a wonderful show. Lisa seemed really to be enjoying every minute of it, and the arrangements were quite interesting. I'd go again in a heartbeat if she came to town. She also did a really cool arrangement of Led Zep's Rock & Roll. Quotestickyfingers101 ....Just saw thi

Garcia said it best... “We're like licorice. Not everybody likes licorice, but the people who like licorice really like licorice.” Personally, I'm a fan, and am really grateful for the 40 times or so I got to see them live, but I know a lot of people whose musical judgement I (otherwise) consider to be very on-spot, who can't stand them. I accept and respect their opinion.

So I've done the obligatory searching first, so forgive me if I missed something. I was in the greater New York area for Christmas, and Exhibitionism was my very first stop in Manhattan when I was able to make it into the city on the 28th. Anyway, I was curious what the reasoning was behind the "no photographs" signs / policy in the "backstage" area as you waited for the

Sing This All Together (See What Happens) at the end of Side 1 of Satanic Majesties has always struck me as being quite a weird little drug inspired romp (especially Keith's licks around the 2:32 mark)... But a lot of great suggestions here indeed... And I personally have a lot of appreciation for their, shall we say less mainstream, work.

On my 3rd spin... 1st time on vinyl after unwinding from the workday. This record is is magic... nothing but but down and dirty, raw, heartfelt versions of the songs they love. Deep, deep groves, lots of feeling, great harmonica and vocals from Mick, and the band is on fire. It's certainly not perfect, but that's what makes it great... haunting at times (Little Rain). This is one for th

Going to be in New York over Christmas, this 2 for 1 deal seemed like a pretty good way to go... not much more than buying 4 regular admissions, plus I get to go a second time and nerd out on the Stones, whereas the visit with the kids will probably not be quite as in-depth. Psyched.

As a Rolling Stones fanatic and a (recreational) bass player, I am really looking forward to seeing this. Thank you very much for posting. By chance I gave my copy of Miles Davis "You're Under Arrest" a spin on the old turntable for the first time in a long time the other day, and I was really stuck at how great Daryl's playing is on that record. The Stones could have done a l
