Thanks for your offer. Looking at two hotels, Hotel Sorrento (900 Madison St) and Mayflower Park Hotel (405 Olive Way), as possibilities for my visit. They seem to be decent, reasonably priced, and within walking distance for me (a bit over a mile from stadium). Any insight you may have about these places or their neighborhood is appreciated. I will understand if you have no person

I saw it last night at Cape Cinema on Cape Cod, MA. One show only. Did not count but probably around 50 of us there. Good movie, but yes, not much that most of us long time fans did not already know. The most incredible thing for me was seeing Bill Wyman speaking at length. I suppose he's done interviews in the years since he left the Stones, but this is the first time I saw one.

My first answer to that question was "any song that has never been played on spotify." In that vein I must ask if that list means that every song ever released by the Stones has been played on Spotify more often than those 10?

they were a great live act/cover band. The stuff they wrote which became the big "hits" that get played on Classic Rock stations today, Centerfold and Freeezframe are absolute rubbish. Unlike the Stones, they never had any talents for songwriting.

Went to see them on Cape Cod (Hyannis area) around 2000 or so. After a few songs I thought, "This ain't a cover band, they're impersonators. It's one thing to see an Elvis impersonator, Elvis is dead, but as long as the Stones are alive and performing, I have no use for impersonators when I can see the real thing". I left.

First, one has to make the distinction between studio versus live performances. For me, what made/makes the Stones such a great band is their live performances. I have long told people that the Stones are the "Greatest Garage band in the World". It's the rawness and rhythmic power of the live shows that I love the most.

Yes, loved Ronnie's work with the Faces and solo and, although I love him as a Stone, I think his best work was with the Faces.

Mine is an usual meeting story. Grew up in NYC not too far from JFK Airport. The elementary school I went to had us fund-raise by selling chocolate bars. By the time I was 11, around 1964 or65 (not sure exactly), me and my friends would take the bus that ran near my house to JFK and roam the terminals selling the chocolate bars. One time, we saw 4 guys emerge from the BOAC lounge, followed by a f

Sorry, no time to read the whole thread or get into any details, so my apologies if this has already been covered, but the group that first came to my mind is Credence Clearwater Revival. I also love the Dead, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Velvet Underground, and many others. but think that CCR is the USA equivalent of Beatles/Stones in terms of the time period, commercial success, and ability t

Count me in among those who have no use for or need to hear Neil Diamond. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but his music does nothing for me. Happy for those who like him, only wish they could do it without me having to hear it. As as an expat New Yorker living in Massachusetts, I cringe with all the Sweet Caroline stuff at Fenway. Not into saccharine. If I was a Bostonian, I'd wou

There is also a Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn. It is east of Brighton Beach and Coney Island. But, these are neighborhoods within NYC, not politically separate towns/cities. Certainly the one in CA is far more well known but as a New Yorker who spent a far amount of time in that part of the city, this is the Manhattan Beach that I think of when I hear it referenced.

prior to his career as manager of the stones, Andrew Loog Oldham, tried his hand as an entertainer himself. One of the names he performed under was Sandy Beach. My guess is that IORR Commentor's name Sandy Beach is a reference to this, but this is just speculation on my part.

Nov 25th was also the day after thanksgiving this year, which for me is the anniversary of my first stones concert, the "Breakfast Show" at MSG in 1969. Technically it is Nov 28, since that was day after Thanksgiving in 1969, but I always think of it relative to Thanksgiving, not the actual date. Orchestra seats were $8. We all stood on the armrests of the chairs.

Saw them last night in Boston. Great show although I did miss "I can't explain". Roger's voice was pretty solid and Pete very animated. Did not enjoy opening act, Tal Wilkenfeld. She may be a great bass player, but she should not be allowed to choose the material being performed. Kind of like Rod Stewart, great voice but lost musically without Ron Wood.

Just back from show at Mohegan Sun Casino. Thought it was a great show. Definitely a "greatest hits" show, and they lack the intensity of 40 years ago, but they sounded every bit as good as the Stones have sounded in recent years. glad I went, as I have no plans to travel 10 hours to a stones stadium show

I'd double check this if I were you, or whoever wrote it. "The dominant narrative about Altamont claims the event signaled the last gasps of 1960s idealism and the death knell of the American counterculture ("the day the music died," as Altamont is referred to in Don McLean's song, "American Pie" )." I have always read that the "day the music die

Lets Go Mets!!!!!! But, given that the only thing the Mets excel at is sucking, I usually have to use a complex formula to decide who I'm for. If not my home town (NYC), then my region ( I now live in MA), otherwise I consider the fan base and decide who I would most like to see get the win. Have to come up with some way to choose sides to make watching the games interesting.

Great Story, I was 16 in 1969 when I saw them for the first time at MSG at "the breakfast show". Travelling to/from MSG on the A train not a big deal, but I understand now how life changing an experience it was. At the time, I did not, but then again, so many things happened in 1969 to us in NYC that year (Jets win Super Bowl, Mets Win World Series, Stones at MSG, Who play Tommy
