Quotewoodyweaving I noticed yesterday when I checked out the wikipedia page for the album that three tracks have been credited to Jagger-Richards-Watt. The tracks are angry, get close and depending on you. I can't recall another person getting that many writing credits and also playing on the album. Does anyone know if there has been a precedent like that before? Ronnie got 4 co-writing c

I do not intend this to be a negative review, but rather an honest one, and indeed I think much of what I have to say is positive. I've been putting off writing anything about Hackney Diamonds until I listened to it a few times and gave it some good thought. I've probably listened through about 6 or 7 times or so, and have more plays than that on some specific tracks, which I'll ge

Really just what strikes my fancy this minute, especially with the songs, but this is a good idea of what generally floats around the top of my list. Albums: Beggars Banquet Exile on Main Street Emotional Rescue Undercover Tattoo You? Sticky Fingers? Let it Bleed? Hard to pick a 5th but the top 4 I think are definitely among my most likely to put on at any given time. Song

I was really hoping Mr. Prine would hang in there. I'm at a loss for words. His music has meant as much to me over the years as anybody's. Love you, John.

I don't know if I think it's better than Let It Bleed, but The Band's self titled release (The Brown Album) from 1969 gives it a run for its money in my opinion. I like Big Pink but I prefer Beggar's to that one for 1968. And CCR's Willy and the Poor Boys from 1969 is fantastic as well. If you're into the country scene at all, John Prine's debut album from 1971

I sing in a band for a living and almost always chew gum on stage. It really isn't much of a problem for me so I've always just assumed Mick liked to chew gum and never gave it any more thought than that.

+1 for Under the Red Sky, as well as Saved, the most overtly religious album of his religious trilogy. John Prine's "Pink Cadillac" is a terrific album but is often considered a low point for him. She's the Boss and to a lesser extent, Primitive Cool.

Any fans of John Prine here? I've only recently dug more deeply into his catalog, beyond the few songs I've known for years like Paradise and Angel from Montgomery. Been going through his 70s records for the last week or so, and I'm absolutely stunned that it took me until now to stumble upon his work. Unbelievable songwriter and musician.

I didn't hear much new stuff this year, though one thing that really stuck in my mind was Marty Stuart's Way Out West. Fantastic album.

Love lots of these, especially the '77 and' 79 stuff. Munich Hilton, Yellow Cab, Gangster's Moll, No Spare Parts, Everlasting is my Love, Misty Roads, those are just ones I haven't seen mentioned yet. Plus, A Different Kind is one of my favorite stones songs period. A Different Kind video:

Bob Dylan's Born in Time, the outtake version from Bootleg Vol. 8 I think. One of my favorites. This a similar version, the only one available to post from youtube.

When I hear the word underrated, I tend to think of stuff that gets lots of (imo) undeserved criticism or generally has a bad or mediocre reputation. That is different to me than a list of songs I like that aren't very popular. I LOVE No Use in Crying, but I wouldn't call it underrated, more like under appreciated. Perhaps that's the same to some people. Anyway, my list would be so

Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives released their new album Way Out West today. Just gave it a listen on spotify as I wait for the vinyl to come in the mail. What a great record. Wait for the Morning is a new favorite of mine. Anybody else here heard it yet?

A list based on influence is way different than a list based on popularity. I find the influence list much more interesting (and much "bigger" in the scheme of things). Maybellene- Chuck Berry Johnny B. Goode- Chuck Berry Good Golly Miss Molly- Little Richard Crossroad Blues- Robert Johnson Hound Dog- Elvis Folsom Prison Blues- Johnny Cash Like a Rolling Stone- Bob Dylan

Good call, bob r. I would love a new Marty Stuart album. And of course a new Stones album. A new Booker T. album would be great, maybe a few songs with Steve Cropper.
