QuoteRollingFreak Every song on Aftermath is so damn good. Really? Goin' Home? Anyone? A song pretending to be a jam. Which it is not. What an utter bore. Imagine how they could have used this space for another 2-3 proper songs. This has got to be the worst song the Stones have ever recorded (Indian Girl and Send It To Me come close). You listen to the separated vocals once and you never

Quotetimmyj3 I totally agree on the Monkees being a huge part of the TV and AM radio era which was a huge step in the evolution of rock n roll. Almost all of the 60's and early 70's lighter weight bands have been ignored with prejudice. I dont understand why these groups that we all watched every weekend on Ed Sullivan and Dick Clark and many other hit TV shows are completely ignored.

Quotejohnnythunders I still think Dylan was a rock’n’roller who cynically exploited the folk boom and then jettisoned it as soon as he could to be a pop star, but my friend Harry tells me I ‘m wrong about that Oh, yes! There might be some truth in there somewhere, although it sounds more like a flat-Earth conspiracy. I can see the grin on Dylan's face as he reads your comment... It was

Quotepmk251 Last week I recorded (again) and watched (again) Don't Look Back, a documentary of Dylan's '65 acoustic tour of England. I'm not sure how any bio-movie could touch that. At that time Bob was the coolest guy on the planet and he knew it. He had the look, the songs, the lyrics and, yes, that voice. The hotel room scene with Donovan is startling, funny, cruel. Bob

Quotebob r So sad to hear this - when I was doing my radio program I would do entire evenings of the band- Garth and his wife maude were great contributors to those programs, sending me all kinds of unreleased songs and rarities. I interviewed him once and I have to say it was wild. I would ask a question and he would play piano for a couple of minutes before answering...we talked a lot about the

QuoteSomeTorontoGirl “Levon Helm said the Band wouldn’t be the Band without him.” The Band wouldn't have been The Band without any of the five guys. Bands with such tightness come around once in a blue moon. It is now the end of the story but not the end of their music. Not a week goes by without me putting on their music. Hate to see Garth go.

Quotewiredallnight I compiled everything that's available (except the official tracks Tallahassie Lassie & The Harder They Come II) Are these 100% identical to the official versions? I am pretty sure this&that was added to the released versions. Perhaps they mixed them differently for the released versions. Is it necessary to exclude those tracks? Just wondering...

250 bucks... I have had no idea celebrities do this kinda stuff. I am sure they need the money badly. Somehow it would feel weird getting a greeting from someone who does not know me at all. Not the most heartfelt idea.

Quotespikenyc Sorry your not an Elvis fan. He is a successful and well respected artist here in the USA. There is a reason so many fans and artists like him. His unique voice and song writing is what makes him standout from the rest. This track is more about Susanna then Elvis anyway. I will try to dig deeper. No doubt, he is very active and songs seem to flow out of him.

Quotespikenyc ...iconic Elvis Costello He is such a mystery to me. Costello. He is respected by his fellow musicians and music critics alike. He has worked with so many great names and even had a TV show chatting it up with big names. I have not got a whole lotta music from him in my collection but I am aware of his tunes. Got the albums with The Roots and Allen Toussaint. I hardly ever listen

I would love to hear the tape with Keef snoring, waking up, playing the Satisfaction riff, going back to bed and snoring again. That would be something... But seriously, I would love to hear how certain songs evolved into the song we all know today, Satisfaction, Street fighting Man, Honky Tonk Women, Sway, Little Red Rooster, Hey Negrita... basically anything. I would also love to hear ALL

Great read! That is how it is done. Great questions from a well-prepared journalist. And Wyman is as humble as he has always been. Relaxed, straight-forward, unpretentious answers. The 2012 'reunion' has been discussed countless times and I think we can all agree that it was great to see Wyman on stage with the Stones even if only for two songs. He should have done more songs. Why h

Basically all bands, artists put out amazing box sets that please the die hard fans who are still around and are willing to pay for these overpriced sets. Let me just say this, this interview is a very good example why some well-known figures have stopped giving interviews for good. Disjointed questions from a guy who did some preparation and still managed to ask the usual dumb questions. Oh, boy... This IS Keith Richards himself sitting down with ya and this is the best you can do? Sex, drugs and rock & roll? Rock against whatever? T

I just had to bring this back up... it was on the second page already. I hope Kris Kristofferson will be on covers of magazines with articles paying tribute to this wonderful artist and his passing will get the attention it deserves. What a legend! Only one still with us from The Highwaymen. Sad to hear the news of his passing.

Tons of stuff like this out there... Tons. I would go for The Beach Boys on an Ibiza beach (not Kokomo though) but if you choose this from this internationally recognized DJ, then be it. If I were her, I would spend more time producing other people's crap.

Quotedimtim I thought ticket prices were very high as well. Per the announcement in the beginning of the thread Martin Scorsese is the first Executive Producer listed. Bet he makes a movie of the event. That is a pretty safe bet. I have been thinking... Does Robbie deserve such a big event? Should Mayall get the same attention now that he is gone? I guess this discussion should be merged with the 'Robbie Robertson' topic. Actually, this tribute show has been mentioned there. I would be surprised if Garth would make it. His in pretty bad shape. But I am sure loads of other musicians will turn up. Not sure why the ticket prices have to be so high. It does make it feel like less of a celebration of RR's work. I do not und

Quoteroryfaninva Eric Clapton's heartfelt tribute. Kinda touching. Clapton looks surprisingly frail. Is it because I have not seen him for quite some time? He does talk about death and seeing Mayall later. His apology to Mayall for all the drinking and womanizing was sort of unexpected. It is a heartfelt tribute indeed. Very nice of him to go online and say goodbye to his mentor. Pe
