Ian Anderson posted a heartfelt tribute to Abrahams. The album 'This Was' is an overlooked but killer blues album. I listened to it to day, on Sunday. 'My Sunday Feeling.' Sad to see Mick Abrahams go.

QuoteMadMetaphoricalMax I remember once meeting with a British 70s rock legend Jesse Hector - check out his early 70s proto punk power trio Crushed Butler (best name ever!) - in the Spread Eagle pub on Camden's Parkway, near the long-running gig pub Dublin Castle, and him saying how NO ONE in the music business f**ked with Harry Webb aka Cliff Richard. He had massive UK hits in the late 70s a

Quotebye bye johnny Rolling Stones guitar sells for $150,000 at Dallas auction That is actually not that much for such an important piece of history... I wish I could afford stuff like this... I even passed on a $9 Pretty Things CD the other day, thinking I should not spend so much money on stuff I do not necessarily need.

Isn't Buddy truly the last man standin'? Hendrix took more from him than from anybody else. Buddy is just one unf^&%#$believable guitarist! All the blues greats (Hubert Sumlin', John Lee...) and rock & roll Originators are gone (Chuck, Fats, Jerry Lee, Little Richard, Bo...) Watch the film, Sinners. I really dug the music... and Buddy, of course...

QuoteBig Al Well, there's a terrific BBC Radio rendition of Berry's 'Too Much Monkey Business', performed by the Yardbirds, featuring Jeff Beck - so that's one, for now! Oh, you are so right, Big AI. The Yardbirds did do that one from Berry.

QuoteTheflyingDutchman QuoteTravelinMan QuoteTaylor1 So now we kind of know what the Stones would have sounded like if Beck had joined It would have been fantastic. You're right about "kind of" because I can only imagine how awesome he would have sounded on Jumping Jack Flash and Heartbreaker etc. IMO, I Love Ladies is the best thing they've released since Tattoo You

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteDandelionPowderman There are many songs, but the most notable is JJF, imo. - They don't play the mystical intro - They skip the melody in the guitar riff - They skip the vocal melody in the chorus The closest rendition to the original is Rock'n'Roll Circus. That's why that version is my favourite. It might be their best rock'n'roll

Quotematxil I agree that in many ways the studio version of Start Me Up is a fantastic example of "weaving" guitars and drums and bass and Mick. But live it's never that good (neither is Gimme Shelter by the way). Yes, Start Me Up loses something live, never liked any of the live versions, but I do not get tired of the studio version.

So it is time for... How could that be? I cannot believe it! This can't be true! Whatttt? (I can't get no) Satisfaction, a milestone in music history, probably the one song everyone in the whole wide world has heard of gets 5 votes compared to Gimme Shelter getting 23... My feeling is that perhaps it was not included in many of the lists because it would have been too obvious

Bill is a one-off. Period. Bill's importance to THAT sound the band had up until 1990 still goes so under-acknowledged. The track with Bill on Diamonds proves how much difference his playing makes even if he just overdubbed his part. His playing along with Charlie's was the backbone for Keef and Mick and those two really needed a solid and reliable foundation. Charlie and Bill were t

He is an underrated rhythm guitarist and a great photographer. Not that many guitarist would be okay to switching to bass when a new guitarist comes along. Sad Sad Sad!!!! Lost a great, uni

Currently been fascinated with variations of the Killshot (kinda old school) I am into shoes too. Wear them all the time. With socks. with socks! In all ads, shoes are worn with socks on. I assumed they were doing it right. Now I am going to throw away all my socks.

Quote1963luca0 DHL tells me they can ship from Italy to the USA for ‘only’ Euro 79, no matter the weight: it’s a matter of volume. From 1 to circa 5LPs it’s the same. I can’t blame US customers who’ve stopped buying in the EU. It is not just the EU. Shipping from any country in the world to the U.S. would more pricey than before August 29. Perhaps another carrier can ship for less. Remember

I also sell CDs, LPs and I am no longer able to ship to the U.S. due to the complicated process and high tariffs. The United States eliminated de minimis that allowed one shipment of goods (per person, per day) valued at or under $800 to enter the U.S. free from duty and import taxes. This can lead to delays for consumers and a higher burden for postal services, which are working to implement

Quotetatters Recommended Viewing: His 2013 late-career masterpiece All Is Lost, in which he is the only cast member and (very nearly) utters not a single word during the entire film. I take it to be a meditation on aging and dying. Slowly but surely, and despite his best efforts to save himself, everything ultimately goes to Hell. Yes! What a journey that film is. A must-see.
