Quotebobo 81-82 my absolute favourite tour. But if they came back in 89 and was the same ragged shows, they would not have survived as a band. The times had changed way too much. All said in 3 sentences!

QuoteIrix The Rolling Stones' 82,000 capacity 2017 venue in Hamburg Stadtpark was temporary as well - . Yeah. And its building time was just 10 days. The last 3 days in a row Mick was there to have a look on the final building process. Weather was much of rain and cold through the day. But only until soundcheck. A boy from Dartford and his Rainstick appeared. And the sun came out and

I think I don't wanna be here anymore when the new record comes out. It gonna be December and 'till then we could have 110 sides in this thread without anybody could have listened to one tone. 90% of all posts here sound they talk about a new coming car than a new bunch of songs of the Greatest Rock'n Roll Band in the World. Just boring facts and high level Professor-talk. The IORR

The Rolling Stones born in 1962 now 63 years later in 2025. "Are they retired?" "No!" "Although the are they in their 80ies/late 70ies?" "Yes" "When was their last tour?" "Last year." "And?" "They are recording a new album this year." "Is IORR still going?" "Yes! Every single minute 24/7 - abo

I liked your positive spirit and your pre-show posts. Wether you were there or at home at your laptop - it was always a great warm up. I even read them while standing already in the PIT. Have a good new time with Charlie, Brian and Stu plus all those other friends up there!

1981/1982 the Stones established their status as Biggest stadium act in history so far. In 81/82 there was no stadium filling U2 yet. No Michael Jackson. No Prince. No Coldplay. No Beyoncé. No Lady Gaga. etc. And when they all came and when some already went the Stones through all those decades filled stadiums tour by tour by tour. An old mighty eagle that doesn't stop to fly. Until

I met Peter Wolf in Hamburg in 1984 doing an interview with him when he was promoting his first solo album Lights Out. Being a 120% Stones Fan I was also open to any music. Especially the work of the frontman of Stones 81/82 US/Europe Tour Opener J.Geils Band. But of course we startet to talk about the Stones, his dedication to Mick etc. Then he made a stop and went like: "Hey why we gonn

Whenever he appeared on the screen you was save: you were in a good movie. Gene Hackman is the actor of whom I saw all the work he did. He was the one with a phenomenal wide spectrum. Mean characters. Funny characters. Bossy characters. Mighty men. Weird man. Everything. "No Way Out" is may be the one which shows his talent crystal clear. Stood once beside him during the shoot of

QuoteTestify This whole audition thing always seemed ridiculous to me. They wanted to finish their album and needed some guitar contributions, that was an excuse to get these "collaborations" for free. I don't think they ever really thought about these guitarists, as possible replacements for Taylor, they wanted Ronnie (even after Brian left they wanted Ronnie), they always wante

QuoteThe Worst. Everyone knows there are better guitar players out there than Ronnie, and everyone knows no one was a better fit for the Stones than Ronnie at the time (and since). There's been sour grapes and bitter remarks from Jeff Beck, Harvey Mandel and to some extent Eric Clapton and others for decades now. Yes we get it, you are better guitar players - but you are not a better fit for

The Stones/Mick was looking for two aspects: a good guitar player with a face girls like to look at, a handsome, sexy personality. Brian left a big hole there. Mick filled it with a young genius looking like an blond angel. When Taylor left they needed someone who can do several jobs in one: Playing guitar well. Helping the all over 30 Stones to keep their wild, bad boy image. AND: Being th

I met Mick at Christmas 1996 in London at Harrod's in he sport section on 5thfloor. He was with Darryl Jones and tried on some Reebok shirts in the middle of the floor. We shaked hands and even talked a while. Mostly about the Stones club gig Paris at the Olympia on the last tour. I was there with my wife and through some circumstances we ended up in the Stones Family section with Jerry Hall

I saw them in the US for the first time at Madison Garden 2003 January 18. It was part of the licks tour. The New York audience is always wild. Much more wilder then in L.A. So MSG was very much like Europe. The Bigger Bang Tour Opener 2005 at Boston's Fenway Park was much more cooler, calmer and collected. So I think, like in Europe it depends on cities. So in Germany Munich is quiet

There will be a whole Europe Tour with 14-16 Dates. As I learned through the years and as the most of you know a tour with any band doesn‘t shape around the ideas and wishes where the band like to play and travel to. A tour forms itself by the bids the concert-promoters do. If you are ready to pay the 7 million fee to the Stones and you have all set incl. ticket handling, venue booking, staff, or

This is an important thread! It make us think about how we all changed during the last 5 decades. When Elvis opened the door to rebellion and John Lennon, Mick, Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant and all the other classic Rockstars stepped in those cats where new, shocking, where partners in Teenagers fight against their parents and the world. Mick & Co had an important role in society. By end of t

Quincy Jones died last night at the age of 91. It's a sad story to loose him. It's a great story what he brought to the world. Yes of course he is the producer of Michael Jackson's Thriller the most sold record of all time with 70 million sales up today. But when he did that Quincy Jones was already a legend in Jazz. With 17 years old he toured with Lionel Hampton. With 20 he

Quotematxil Their last truely great album. The only weaker song (Hang Fire) doesn't take away the overall brilliance of it. The guy who dug up all the out-takes that ended up on the album deserves a medal (or, rather, at least 50% of the copyrights). Let the hero speak himself: "Tattoo You really came about because Mick and Keith were going through a period of not getting on. The
