john r wrote Boy, "Slave" is a slab of dazzling diamond hard funk, apparently a seamless performance by master musicians with an amazing sense of duynamics, tension & release. Like the band was cut in a sweaty room on a very hot night. straight up.

QuotegrizzlybearNot Hungary, Baboon. I live in Romania. Western music was not really.. forbidden. It was simply not available. In 1983 we had Smokie and The Boomtown Rats in concert, in Bucharest; those were the last important gigs until 1989. LP's were available through black market only, costed a fortune as you mentioned. Had to travel 2000 km to and from my first Stones concert. respe

Read ECs book when it came out because he was always an enigma to me. The book is great at the outset and paints his childhood in a barren emotional landscape. The tone is mature and gives off a sense of happiness reached at the end of some hard travels. A lot of the middle bits are unfortunately lost in a self admitted fog (like the Concert for Bangladesh - one of his saddest moments). As rock

QuoteandrewmHey Dixiecup, Re the Junior: I only got it a couple of weeks ago and have played it through my Orange Head and a 4 x 12 cab-it absolutely sizzles ! Extremely light as well.It had a headstock repair done many years (great job, though)and that was basically the reason I was able to afford it as the asking price was less than half what they're going for in mint, clean shape.

Top Bbro! Youre back! Heres the reason I learned to fiddle with the bass Top track from a top band - The Jam - Precious This song was made in 81/82. I think Too Much Blood has something in common with it in terms of arrangement. I read that Jagger used to keep up with the sounds of the times. Was there a link?

some comments on the old ways of recording. since recording costs were low it meant that you could spend a lot of time jamming it out in the studio as we read from johns. the concept of 'loss' refers to when you lose a lot of the detail in the sound in terms of depth and dynamic range. the way a lot of pop stuff is produced today is heavily compressed, effected and tone focused. tha
