52 years ago today! Ouch. One of the definitive British rock albums of the early 70's and the debut of Clem Clempson. "Smokin" was the Pie's biggest seller and considered to be their peak by many.

Enjoyed The Raspberries at the time. From 2007- he still sounds good. I didnt know he was such a good keyboard player. Respect.

As a teenaged Pie fan at the time (1973, we were a little dubious of Marriotts drift towards soul/R&B after Rockin At The Fillmore and Smokin'... but seen in 2024 this is gloriously over the top and captures the essence of the man...Whisperin' Bob Harris agrees.

1973 "Midnight Special" from London hosted by Procol Harum with Humble Pie, Alvin Lee and Steeleye Span. Tiny venue, great performances. Marriott is something else...

Thanks for the heads up. Great score for JB fans. Surprised how little the Jack Bruce/Mick Taylor collaboration did for me..big fan of both. Robin Trower, Gary Moore and Clem Clempson all seemed to have better chemistry with Jack than Mick Taylor did.
