What really strikes me about this footage, is that there is so little from 1972, CSBlues, L&G and some home movies stuff and Dick Cavett. But in everything that we see, Mick changes his performance nightly it seems, based on what the band is doing, based on how the crowd is and based on whatever mood he is in. There's nothing choreographed about it. It's all spontaneous. No two perf

I thought it was a very solid series. Revelatory? For many of us die hards, probably not. But many moments to give you a shiver or even a tear down your cheek. I thought the Charlie episode was quite gripping and made you realize just how different he was from the rest of them. To resist the obvious temptations they have had for 60 years the way he did seems inhuman. But he was a decent gentle

Quotetatters QuoteRollingFreak I was surprised he played so many Winwood songs instead. Just cause thats where the money is? It just makes for a better show, though I suppose it does begin to stretch the limits of credulity when he plays Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home." homages--he LOVES those songs

QuoteTaylor1 I would like to know who invited him to play on the Banquet sessions. Was it Brian, who had been playing with him and Hendrix on the All Along the Watchtower sessions or his Traffic producer Miller they were all just hanging at Olympic a lot - Miller started to work after the Stones after Jagger observed the Traffic essions- he was closest with Brian but Keith invited him to partici

We all know how much Ian Stewart meant to the Rolling Stones. He wasn’t just a great player, in the early days he was the ultimate organizer and facilitator, getting them from point A to point B safely and soundly and making sure they had whatever they needed. He was the adult in the room. Without his discipline, it’s hard to imagine them in the early days doing everything that they did. Somet

I guess we are all observing these magical moments on this tour where there seems to be genuine warmth, respect and even affection between these two. There used to be the occasional smile back in the 70s and 80s but it just seems like now, the stakes are so much higher and they can both sense that anything can happen at any time to anyone. Of course, you can't read too much into these guys,

QuoteThe Sicilian Quotemicha063 This thread should get closed. It has turned into a field of destructive words, blaming and this useless "I know how the world is and if you don't believe me you don't deserve to talk". I'm sorry but I find this is a reason to laugh about. Stop already with the squealing to shut down threads. It happens too much here. If people have a p

Quotecrholmstrom Kind of surprised that Def Leppard played last. I wonder if they will switch on different shows, maybe when Tommy Lee is healed up. I didn't read anything about a drum stunt on this show. Would be hard to top the one on the farewell tour though. I saw the last show outside of LA in Vegas. The band was great, Vince Neil not so much. I also saw the Crue open 2 shows for the St

QuoteTheflyingDutchman QuoteTopi Quotegrzegorz67 on FB, Ben Waters says Mick's in hospital. Ben says he's looking to do an impromptu gig in Amsterdam for the fans. If it happens, he's well worth seeing. Fabulous piano player. Saw Ben in the VIP room, he said he was trying to get something arranged for tonight. His facebook page-timeline is empty since an hour or two. wou

obviously, despite the tight bubble he was most likely part of- it gets in - his girlfriend and kid are around lots of people at the shows, it seems- MASSIVE crew- not too shocking but awful nonetheless - in the end tho, it's just a show, and life is way important than a show. Speedy recovery, Mick, and then sort it all out
