QuoteKurt QuoteFillmore Besides the Nellcote Chronicles, the Crown Jewels in any collection of Stones related books. Cheers, Fillmore I completely agree! These are the same two books that I'm happiest to own. Thank you so much, kind Sirs! WOW! As an owner of the very exclusive STU book too, I can confirm its tasty, rare quality. Highly recommended. Get it while you can!

To kickstart the summer vacation, here are two more colorized Nellcote photos from around 1900! Look at those lush colours... This is the approach road and northern facade from when the villa was constructed.

Quote24FPS So...Mick and Keith were the only Stones for the overdubs? All five members were there, MJ and KR the most, with MT present at "most sessions", according to the woman organizing and booking for the band. BW and CW came "once, maybe twice" during the winter 71-72, staying "for a few weeks". (This matches what Wyman has told.) She does not recollect spesi

Quotesaltoftheearth Wouldn't it be great if they broadcast rare or yet unheard recordings? Yeah! Both Crossfire Hurricane and Stones in Exile had that, albeit often with dialogue on top. I wrote the editor and director of the latter back in the day and they said they were given a harddisk with, roughly, half an hour of banter and outtakes. It held no notes or info about when and where

I promised some outtakes from the Nellcote book…. Lets start with Nellcote in … colors! This photo is from around 1902, and originally shot in black and white. The colors were added as an idea for the book, but not included. Villefranche-sur-Mer lies in the distance across the bay. Pauline Thomas (the daughter of the first owner) can be seen posing on the terrace. Thanks, Honestman

The bill for "I Don´t Know Why" was footed by Klein (£11,617, to be exact, check cleared on 25/8/69, recording said to stem from 30/06/69 according to papers from the litigations.). Thus the master-rights to the track belonged to Klein. That explains, I think, their reluctance to do anything with it and why it ended up on Metamorphosis.

Received Erwin’s STP 72 book this weekend…What a wonderful and meticulously researched thing it has become! Love it! A true reference work. Newsclips, photos, tapes and films have been dissected to create an in-depth dive into (one of) the most entertaining Stones tour ever. What tracks did they play, where? What is said on stage between songs, what happened between shows, what details are there

Quotekeefgotsoul Thanks for the info RobberBride! Anyone know what this is to the right of Jagger on the small tripod? Is it possibly an 8mm video camera? . It is the camera sending images to the producer/engineer in the Mobile, parked outside the villa. Andy Johns said the camera was state-of-the-art at the time, but often malfunctioned.

Thank you so much VoodooLounge13! Yes, I did sign the books in Paris my last time there, and I will do the Silver Editions when I return in July. Glad you liked it! @Keefgotsoul: Intriguing question, isn´t it? I remember I asked Dom if he still had his camera a few years back and I remember he laughed and said he either had lost it or it was stolen? Can´t remember exactly which of the two, th

Quotewillnash I cannot recommend it highly enough to any lovers of limited edition books, Rolling Stones fans and the not inconsiderable followers of the history of the Côte d’Azur during the occupation. In my opinion the most interesting book with a Stones angle published in the last 10 years. William Nash Oh, wow, and from the legendary Will Nash. The EXILE book... don´t get me started..

Villa Nellcote has not yet been seized by the French government - a long, complex process. However, the assets of the Russian oligarch owner were “frozen” by the EU on March 25th. That means the owner can not visit, rent out or sell the property at the moment. The youngest daughter of the oligarch was actually made majority stockholder in 2014, to avoid Nellcote being seized following the C

The one I described above, available for 42 000 USD, was still for sale at the Howard Greenberg gallery in NYC when I spoke with them a few weeks ago, Matt. The Sothebys auction (30 000) was back in 2010.

Thank you to all of you who send me images of the Nellcote book underneath the Christmas tree! Mindboggling to think it is spread everywhere now. There is even a Nellcote book on Greenland! For those of you curious: the presentation of the book (as documented by dear Georges) in Paris went very well. Paris was a Thursday night vernissage and exhibition opening. Then a workshop in Tarlés d
