Somebody who started this post really likes Mick. IMHO, ain't nothing to compare. Keith's first solo album, as one reviewer put it after the album came out, "Is the best Rolling Stones album in years". Can't disagree with that assessment. Talk Is Cheap rocks.

Heartbreak Hotel by Hanni El Khatib. This is the song Keith said in his book turned him onto r&r. Very cool version.

IMHO: 12x5 for early original Stones. Steel Wheels for latter Stones.

Love Springsteen. Consider "Tunnel of Love" the best thing he ever did. Still find "Winterland '78" (if I remember the year correctly) the best live Bruce I ever grooved to. But, thanks for the tip. I'll give these a go and see what they do for me.

George Will was (yeah, I know he is) an American politcal columnist. He used to be interesting, but some years ago let ideology replace thinking in his musings. These days, he's a major horse's patoot. I read through this tread and thought of this song. It is about Mister Will and so many others. Bob got it right way back then. It still holds. BTW, if you have never seen the movi

Is 40 Licks the one with the bare breasted woman on one of the covers? If so, I guess I got me a collector's item.

Hmmm...you gotta know your market. XL is the size because many of the folks who first heard WH back in the day are XL or better these days.

Hmmm...I'm sorry, gang, but my reaction to this is WTF? While watching this I kept coming back to thinking: Is this them doing a parody of themselves, "The Rolling Stones", playing around in the studio or a skit from Saturday Night Live. I've had more sparks and energy fly off in an impromptu jam session with friends than is happening in this clip. Maybe I'm off in my ass

The Beatles - Anna. A song originally done by Arthur Alexander. Link below. Even the Stones covered him, but a different song. Arthur: And the late great Willy DeVille even covered him: If you haven't gotten into Arthur Alexander - or Willy DeVille - treat yourself.

Interesting, yeah, I'd say, yes for a one time listen, but not something to keep in the mix. It did make me think I should fine my white suit and disco/dancefloor shoes. The DJ can throw these on right after this gets thumped out over the dance floor. We can all work off those extra calories from lunch. Play 'em loud and proud. And bring it all back home with:

For what's it worth, in no particular order: Mona, Around and Around, GOMC, SFTD, Gimme Shelter, Brown Sugar, One Hit to The Body (off beat, totally unexpected, but cranked loud enough, a kickass starter), Love Is Strong (another one to crank up), The Last Time. Then there's the perverse side of me which says, since the Stones have done cover songs, why not really throw folks for a

Man, if you gonna talk soft crabs at Lex market, that's cool. Soft crabs is one of my most favorite things in this whole world, but Lex Market has a place that sells fried chicken and Western fries to die for. I wish I had me a piece of that chicken and them fries right now. If you wanna talk B'more and the food, you gotta go for a corned beef sandwich at Attman's on Lombard St

Re latebloomer comment about Anacostia in Washington, D.C., Anacostia is slowly starting to be gentrified, along with parts of the eastside of D.C. I wouldn't yet call these safe areas, but change is coming and the people who called Anacostia home will be displaced like in many areas of major cities around the world. Harlem in New York City here in the U-S-A is an example. Regarding Balt

If true about the family issues, what a sad story about one of the great blues players. I still listen to his music with 'The Thrill Is Gone' one of my fave songs of all time. If you haven't heard it in awhile or at all, check out one of the best albums B.B. ever did - Indianola Mississippi Seeds. This is in my permanent top 10 listens, ain't a bad track on it, and Carole King

Wow. I now know all of them mono Stones albums I have packed away are worth something beside nostalgic value. I used to buy all albums in mono (Stones, Beatles, Dylan, Sinatra - always a fan of his), if I could, when vinyl reigned, as I preferred mono over what passed for stereo back then.

Thank y'all for your kind words regarding the old hometown. Regarding the Mason Dixon Line, it was considered the dividing line between the northern and southern states back in the day. You can still find remnants of it - stone markers and such - along the Maryland-Pennsylvania border. During the American Civil War, Maryland held itself to be a Southern state and wanted to join the other

Cool version of the Randy Newman song by Nina Simone. You don't need to comment, folks, this ain't meant as a political post. Just dig the tune and the words. Watch "The Wire" if you wanna know. Almost all of "The Wire" is based on real Baltimore sh*t.

Balboa will go the distance against Creed...oops, wrong fight. Haven't watched boxing since Leonard/Duran and the "No mas" thing. Ali/Frazier and the Thrilla in Manila was probably the best fight I ever watched. Is there still a heavyweight champeen of the world out there today?
