QuoteHealy52003 QuoteMisterDDDD QuoteHealy52003 going back to Croke Park and why addidional concerts are a probelm the residents are up in arms cause there lives will be disturbed for about 5/6 days cause of this show (crew setting up, band rehearsing, people coming to and from the venue etc) where they will already be disturbed 3 times already with 3 shows already fixed for June/July. QuoteGazza Quoteslewan Dublin – I still think it's stupid to play an open air show in Ireland in May – historical average temperatures for Dublin in mid May are between 6°C (low) and 15°C (high) and an average of 12 rainy days. It was cold enough in Hamburg and Munich in September… Like I said earlier in this thread, Ive been to about ten outdoor shows in Dublin in May. And I dont recal

QuoteMingSubu What happened to Dublin? it was included originally based on a half-story printed in The Star but that was it. Personally I'm surprised. A date in the Aviva would probably have sold out - you'd have had a fair few of the Slane crowd only too happy to go, especially given that it's a far more accessible venue than the arse end of Meath...

just so y'all know, there's not one self respecting Irishman who'd EVER refer to March 17th as St Patty's Day... St Patrick's Day? Fine St Paddy's Day? If you must St PATTY'S Day? Patty's a girls name. Like Marge Simpsons's sister. Or Keith's missus...

Yeah, I like 'em. Pal of mine gave me a cd full of random albums on mp3. Go-go Boots is the only one of them that caused me to go out and hand over cash money for the CD, and i like it very much! Where should one go after GGB?

QuoteGADAWG With due respect all the posts seem to be on the demand side of the equation. I work for a publically traded company and all of our business is generated through a public RFP bidding process. Many of our contracts are in excess of $50 million annually. Once we win an award there is usually a substantial startup cost for implementation. In many cases 10% to 20% of the first year gr

QuoteHis Majesty QuoteJaggeresque From the Telegraph's story today announcing the second date. Huge (and kinda apt) typo: They mispell Hyde Park as HYPE PARK: "Last week it was announced that the Rolling Stones would perform at Hype Park on June 6, almost 44 years to the day since they first played there in 1969. Tickets for the first Hype Park gig sold out in three minutes when they

QuoteThe Worst. Quotemtaylor From Stones on Facebook Contrary to reports in the press, if you buy a £95 ticket to see the Stones in Hyde Park you have the opportunity to go right to the front of the stage, where the action is! So what is the point with gold and diamond circles then? D'you want the brutal, honest truth? To get a heap of money out of people who'll panic buy as soon

Quotebeepee2 Quotetextmonkey Hmmm...I paid €127 to get into the gold circle in Slane in 2007; now I'm being asked to pay more for GA in Hyde Park. Throw in accomodation and flights, and it's an expensive proposition. Also, given the economy in Ireland, I don't see them swinging by. Ah well, it's been fun. To those who are going to HP, have a beer and a boogie for me, will y

QuoteGazza QuoteBeast of Babylon I mean seriously, maybe i'm over reacting but i think its dirty and i find it personal. As all diehard stones fans should that wanna go Why not take it personal that the Stones clearly don't care who buys the tickets as long as they get their $25 million? Some acts take anti-scalping measures (to varying degrees of success admittedly, but at least

QuoteGazza QuoteTomGreen Shame on the band and Richard Branson, primarily for not putting anti-touting measures in place. Yes, the ticket prices at face value are still a joke, especially having a top price ticket on the upper tier of the O2, but we could just about come to terms with and save/loan for them. But £1,500+ for semi-decent seats or standing via the touts is a disgrace. It isn&#

Quotepaulywaul QuoteLimbostone Quotetextmonkey Pauly - did you see that Dispatches programme on Channel 4 a while back about ticketing? They blew the lid on the whole thing. There are instances of people buying tickets and immediately flinging 'em onto Viagogo or wherever to turn a quick profit. However, the impression I took from it, (and I await correction) is that the vast majority of

QuoteGravityBoy I'm pretty sure the Stones are in no way contractually responsible for any of this crap. They just signed on the line for the money. The detail was other people very far removed. An act can specify whatever the heck it likes, if it can be bothered. For instance, Morrissey insists that no meat products are sold in the environs of his gigs, and that none of his crew con

QuoteGravityBoy Welcome to Capitalism. Business people are doing this all over the world on a much grander scale. Perhaps they are. However, it's not unheard of for a big ticket act to put such measures in place. Tom Waits, for instance, does it.

Quotepaulywaul QuoteSilver Dagger The criminal situation is how sites like Getmein and Double O tickets have so many on offer. The whole thing is a fix and needs to be looked at by a Government backed investigation team. Tickets should be sold to fans, not to sites that buy up 100s at a time to sell on for vastly inflated prices. Indeed, something I've been maintaining for YEARS now, an

Quotemr_dja I remember a pop hit back in the 80's called "When Smokey Sings" that was a tribute to Smokey Robinson. Don't think that one got to #1 though. "Bette Davis Eyes" references an actress as opposed to a musician. Drawing a blank after those two titles... Peace, Mr DJA Aye - that was ABC, by the way. Good tune, that!

My 3cd version of Station to Station arrived yesterday. I'm not really one for deluxe packages and re-issues, but I do like this album and reckoned it worth a punt. JESUS it sounds good. I don't have the fanciest stereo system in the world, but even listening to it in the car, the studio album, there were certainly things there that I'd not heard in the 1999 EMI version. I th

I don't think that fans are going to be heard. I'm not sure how long it is since fans were heard. Gazza has, as ever, hit the nail squarely on the head with his analysis. Money rules things now, and the Stones couldn't go back to the cheaper shows now, even if they wanted to. This has had an effect on setlists too. He who pays the piper actually DOES call the tune(s). Course they do. And in all honesty, outside of the 'fanatics' a lot of people will dismiss the bonus disc as a curiousity - something akin to the Beatles Anthology albums. But it's genuinely good natured messing. You know they know their music, and the band; it's not ill-informed rubbish they're spouting. It's well-informed good humoured rubbish!

Good Stuff Simon; i'm with AdrianL on this. Broudie's a fookin' genius with a real gift for melody. As an Irishman, I remember seeing coverage of the European Championships and the crowd all singing Footballs Coming Home. I'm not proud of it, but for those 3 minutes, i kinda wouldn't have minded being English.
