Almost three days later the gorilla still makes me laugh. It makes my kids laugh. I put a print of it on the fridge and ever time my wife sees it she freaks out which makes us all laugh. It's funny. Rock'n'roll is supposed to be fun. GRRR! is already entertaining the world and we don't even know what the hell is going to be on it. I'd say, "Mission accomplished.&

QuoteRocknroll1969 Rolled Gold is another Greatest hits CD And the cheesy, crap-ola airbrushed cover of ROLLED GOLD is infinitely worse than GRRR! The gorilla is funny. I'm entertained by the cover alone. Mission accomplished before the shrinkwrap comes off.

OK, every time I look at the cover I laugh. It's funny. It's fun. ROCK AND ROLL IS FUN! Or supposed to be, anyway. How did we all get SO SERIOUS about rock and rollfor crying out loud?

I think Jagger has long despised his audience because he feels they trapped him in his '60s-'70s rock star personae and that's why his movies and solo work flop so badly. His only motivation for maintaining the Stones is obviously to keep coming back for more and more money not to create music. Now, the ultimate act of passive aggression, this cynical hits collection packaged and p

I'll wager "Gloom And Doom" is a 'topical' song ala 'Highwire' or 'Sweet Neocon.' One more reason to be underwhelmed and profoundly dissapointed by this roll-out.

The did the postcard thing for the Pontiac Silverdome too. Two nights at nearly 90,000 each (still, in total, an apparent record) no one got shut out. Of course no one realized that at the time so it was exciting to open the mailbox and find you'd "scored."

QuoteJah Paul QuoteR You have to know the set-lists for these shows will be as generic as they come, all Hot Rocks, all night. Keith is said to be having problems even recalling those let alone "Around And Around" or "Soul Survivor." I hope we're wrong, but I'm guessing it'll be something like this... Start Me Up Bitch Let’s Spend The Night Together Ruby

What a load of crap. When I got this "valuable offer" I promptly unsubscribed from rollingstones.com. Why any band would insult the intelligence of their audience is beyond me.

I saw the first night at Pontiac (Detroit) with a lifelong buddy and two girls I can't remember. People thought Iggy was getting booed in his hometown but getting booed and having sh-t thrown at him is how Detroit audiences and Iggy relate and have '68. Santana turned in a great set and the "punters" (as you Brits would call) them all said he blew the Stones off. The Sto

QuoteTeaAtThree Quotewhitem8 I too was at First Night in DC. Hot Stuff was awesome to hear, didn't last in the set list. That's one good thing about early shows, you get a couple of tunes that soon get dropped. T@3 I was there as well and loved the rarities. "Brand New Car" and "I Can't Get Next To You" were both rare treats. I saw East Lansing about a mo

Most everything they do is a joy to behold though the T/T studio album was a bit flat. They produced it themselves and it could have used a bit of outside introspection. They made up for it with the new live album. Their version of Stevie Wonder's "Uptight (Everything's Alright)" is a blast. The year Derek spent on the road with Clapton was mutually beneficial. Quotenightskyman Quote71Tele Quotebatcave That's nice....now where is the deluxe version of Let It Be? Next year, according to my impeccable source. I've been waiting for that for years. There are no more excuses not to release again with extra fOotage, etc. Oh come on. They put it out with the best they had and that was awful enough.

Quotebv TAnd I was at SarsStock with 450.000 people. That show was ticket price 20 canadian dollars and they made a fortune on beer sales because it was crazy hot and it was an all day 8 hours event. Really? I was there all day and never found a damned beer tent.

If the Stones do something, I will be there. Until then, there is plenty of good music out there! My 15 year old son and I made a point of seeing this band at Lollapalooza last week. QuoteElmo Lewis Am I the only one who doesn't think John Lennon's "Imagine" is the most wonderful song ever? Ditto "I Am The Walrus". I've always thought it was vastly over-rated and in some parts as nonsensical as "I Am The Walrus."

Historically they have announced tours in the early Spring putting them on sale in May, or so, for shows that begin as early as the first days of August. There won't be a tour. That's pretty obvious. There MIGHT be one-off appearances but I'd wager that's it.

QuoteFloorbird He won't be touring soon either. He sold the rights to all of his songs about eleven years back for untold millions upon millions of dollars, cash on the barrel-head. David Bowie doesn't have to do a damned thing he doesn't want to do.

QuoteKurt I am sickened by this latest example of bullshit and greed in the music business. Managers, agents, promoters, and attorneys constantly poison the concert business and drain the fun right out of everything. Um, in this case it's the band members who instigated both sides of this mess.

Rock/Metal listeners aren't nearly as well-heeled as sports-talk listeners and there aren't nearly as many of them. Plus, most sports talk is just rebroadcast from a satellite feed so the station needn't employ as many local personel. It's a business and owners and management want the biggest audience with the most money in their pocket for the lowest price. THAT and the fact

Quotetheanchorman QuoteR Quotetheanchorman I caught the show at the Beacon in 06. It was good. However, as a Walsh fan - I was disappointed he only included Rocky Mountain Way from his solo work. He has too many cool songs to pick from. In that sense, the James Gang tour set list was lacking... Thar's because it was THE JAMES GANG TOUR. How would you feel if the Stones trotted out "Ju

I was flipping thru the channels and came upon a bunch of women dressed as Mary Poppins dancing around. Asking myself "WTF is this?" I watched for a few minutes and determined the whole spectacle was overblown, pompous horsesh-t. My recorded episode of DALLAS had far and away more redeeming value.
