paint it black and play with fire interested me in high school, but never got into the band really. sway caught my attention in college. i became a true fan after seeing midnight rambler live in toronto in 2002. i still get chills thinking about it.

i think the seperation 'feel' comes from a very quick delay effect put on the midrange frequencies, it gives the impression of a wider sound... a small engineering trick. that along with some real heavy duty mastering can make the old mix sound much crisper for sure.

to each their own... obviously i love the stones. i don't believe they have consciously passed the torch. but i feel it is safe to say that ac/dc are seen as the classic rock touring powerhouse who can deliver. the stones perhaps have a slight backseat to them. i know every single person who has discussed the stones/acdc show in toronto back in 2003 said that ac/dc blew the stones away

heard the song on q107 on the ride home this afternoon. song sounded awesome with the windows down on a beautiful spring morning. love the tune. glad it found the light of day.

looking forward to hearing the whole track. vocals are perhaps a touch over the top... but... love the sound. if the stones put out a modern album with this feel, i believe they could be taken very seriously again.

enjoyed listening to the edited commercial free version. well produced program. reminds me a lot of randy bachman's (from the guess who and BTO) radio show called vinyl tap where he tells stories and plays a little bit of guitar along with what he is talking about.

i sometimes wonder if the chords were finger plucked on top of what ever effects they use. doesn't sound plucky enough to my ears for a pick.

i know some of you have seen the stones dozens of times. i myself am not so lucky. i've seen them a mere two times. however i still feel like a song collector for the stones and many other bands. it is as though there is a list i have of songs i want to check off that i have heard. for example i still wish to see cyhmk, sway, paint it black, love in vain, beast of burden and monkey man.

i am fully aware that the people who frequent this site are the die hard variety of stones fans. we can probably rhyme of setlists from various tours, we know every b-side in existence and could win any round of rolling stones trivial pursuit. however, i wonder if some of the things we take for granted would be known by the casual stones fan. thinking about the exile reissue, mick taylor b

i think it is possible for 3 reasons: 1) classic bands performing entire albums is a bit of a trend right now. ie- springsteen, devo, van morrison, steely dan etc. 2) they need to do something to promote the reissue. touring the album might be a bit much, but being the business men they are, they'll come up with something. 3) a large portion of the album has already been played live

skydome in toronto 2002, the day i switched from a somewhat casual fan to a die hard. i still get chills thinking about midnight rambler.

so it is official. my girlfriend is the coolest ever. this afternoon we spent some time compiling our top 10 fave stones songs of all time. it was tough, real tough to make the list. but after lots of talks (and listening to songs to double check) this is what I came up with. I want to hear yours to see how us iorr-ers think. in no particular order sway heart of stone play with fire paint

hey bernard anderson, david wilcox was a very nice man to chat with. he was far more articulate than i would have expected.his stage show makes him seem really goofy and party lovin, but while talking he sounded eloquent and like a university professor. great interview too. i must agree with what others have said, i imagine setlists are more or less mapped out a few weeks in advance, even f

i know from the footage in shine a light they would have us believe a setlist is made seconds before hitting the stage... but logistically, for something like the bigger bang tour where you have full sized crews working videos, lights, pyro etc. they know well in advanace what songs require what effects and what needs to happen. how long before a show do you think the setlist is made? e

i don't find his playing impressive, he is more about using the guitar for atmosphere. that being said, his solo on bullet the sky from the 1992 tour is mind blowing, in my books it is one of the greatest solos ever. check it out starts around 1:45

i would be curious to sit in on the pre game talks where they decide who they want for the half time entertainment. you know? i wonder what kind of criteria they use to whittle down who they will pick. i would be interested to see who else is on their want lists.

when you hear a dj cue up that the stones are up next after the break... you usually expect one of the 'warhorses' but every now and then i'll get caught off gaurd and hear a lesser played track. a week or so ago i was shocked on Q107 to hear 'We Love You' at 9:30am. i've also heard soul survivor and from time to time sway works its way onto the airwaves. i thi

there is no question that the two have different guitar styles and different approaches to song writing. taylor has a more virtouso flare and ronnie a more party groove style. i fully agree the band took a different change in sound when wood joined, just as the band did when taylor joined. having been in bands i know when a new member joins, the puzzle changes with the new pieces. what does
