As far as Stones content goes... Undercover. Laughed at it the first few times, but fell in love with She Was Hot and the next thing I knew I was digging the whole album. Other bands... Joy Division. The first time I heard Ian Curtis's voice I thought "I can't believe someone let him sing... and I can't believe people worship these guys." Next thing I knew they be

I rarely complain about the stones. I don't think YGMR was a poor choice of a song, but how it came across was unfortunate. It lacked the rocking balls that Jumping Jack Flash had. Their performance and the sound of YGMR may have tainted their appearance to the masses... a pity considering how good many other songs have seemed recently according to youtube clips from shows. You have to rem

As someone who has worked in radio for the last 7 years... it will show up on some Classic Rock and Classic Hits stations for the next week. Two weeks from now, it will never be heard of again. It might 'chart' but it won't result in any more airplay. I could go into all of the reasons why, but watch and tell me if I am right in two weeks time.

i know it won't happen in a million years... but i would love steve albini to record them. if anyone could bring rawness back to the band's sound... it would be him. he captures the sound of a band in a room. no slickness... just records the way it sounds in the room. listen.

depends on the act and what they are about. i saw ween last summer, they played a little over 3 hours and it hardly felt like it. we all wanted more. i saw pearl jam a few years back and they played for almost 3 and a half hours. the crowd would have taken more if they had been willing. i saw stompin tom connors a few weeks back and an hour and a half was perfect for what he brings to

i don't think anyone mentioned this... they certainly use tremolo on the vocals...

as a bass player the two things that jump out to me are bill's live playing in the 70s (especially 72-73) ... he does all sorts of runs that aren't on the albums and really baffle me. and i love the miss you bass line... the prototypical disco bassline which has one of the best melodies for bass ever.

i can't find the link right now... but there was a video that floated around a few years back showing how ridiculous backmasking is. they showed how the random sounds produced by listening to the lyrics backwards were informed by what you were looking for or trying to hear. they played a clip from a song and showed how you could hear about 20 completely different sentences... truth be told,

so on the side i dj... usually weddings, stag and do's, parties etc. tonight i dj-ed a dance for a bunch of 12-14 year olds. so i started playing the 'dancy club pop' stuff they are into. i noticed mick jagger's name was rhymed swagger in 3 different songs. interesting to me that name dropping mick jagger is cool in 2011's electro-pop music scene.

this isn't a thrilling story really... but a friend of mine just got a contract in france to do some landscaping/ stone work for a mansion which he found out mick jagger just bought. likely he won't cross paths with jagger, but interesting that he gets to install mick's new driveway and backyard.

i agree. i find several groups 'weave' far better than the stones. another keith sound byte that has been replayed too many times.

although this is an over generalized answer: truth is times are different than they were in previous generations, but that is how it always goes. something are still the same, there is some good music and some bad music.

i don't buy this story. if you know anything about playing blues guitar, the notes from the riff are used in a standard blues run. i think he was just playing the notes individually and it sounded cool... just my skeptical side though.

I do see how hysteria and rumours start. I guess I wasn't listening fully when it aired. I spread false news. After reading the transcript it hardly sounds as convincing. Oh well, I am still going to play the "maybe there is something going on that we don't know about card". plus I didn't want to admit I was watching Joy Behar. it was on in the other room and I overh

Hi Guys, The show was from last night. It was on here in Ontario at around 10:00pm or so. The show was called the Joy Behar show. I am trying to find a video clip online. Apparently the show originally aired March 18th and this was a rebroadcast. I did find this transcript of the show: COOPER: It`s spec -- we opened for them in that show. We opened in about three for four cities for them.

i just caught a few minutes of alice cooper on a late night talk show discussing keith richards and the stones. he said he was talking to keith this week and that the band is rehearsing right now for a tour. this seems to go counter to what everyone else is saying... and really, could they be rehearsing and we don't know about it?

i've been a long time fan of the band. i finally got up the gusto to see them live in toronto last summer. thye played for over 3 hours, i think i heard every genre of music, they did perfect note by not covers of ohio by csny and lets dance by david bowie. truly one of the best live bands out there. they truly operate at a level of hilarity most bands don't even know exists. they do

in recent years i'm sure we have all noticed jagger's replacing of baby with bee-bay. i do believe it is a vocal preservation technique as baby requires more emphasis from the throat than bee-bay does. however, he was not the first. listen to walking up a one way street by willie tee, i hear him saying bee-bay, and this was way back in the early-mid 60s.

i'll be honest, this song has never quite done it for me. i love songs that sounds somewhat similiar like dandelion, who's driving your plane and the satanic majesties stuff... but this one for some reason never struck. there isn't much to the melody and it just feels thrown together to me.
