I always thought this was funny: "You know people ask me: it is really true where you live in Texas, it is really true what they do around there, people? I say, 'yeah everytime I drive through the crossroads I get scared there's a bloke running around with a f*cking chain saw.'"

QuotePaintitBlue Is anyone else planning on buying the Front Zone passes? I am considering purchasing the one that gives you individual passes for each night of the festival for $660. This would hopefully allow you to resell nights you dont want to help offset the higher cost...but will also allow u a semi-guaranteed close spot without lining up at 10am in the morning. Anyone else thinking of thi

Rich and/or well-connected people up the front, yawning, talking through the whole concert, looking at their phones, etc... Disgusting! That's why I like how Bruce does it. To get in the "pit" and up-close to the stage you have to do your time beforehand, standing in lines starting in the early afternoon. Then you know it's the REAL fans you are enjoying the show with.

QuoteBeforeTheyMakeMeRun I saw Bruce last May, and he was great! It was at an outdoor venue and sprinkling rain--he didn't stay on the stage, as certain performers might have-he used all of his catwalks that were set up, walked through the crowd, he even did 'Mary's Place' & did a banter in the middle of the song ("...Yeah, nothin' wrong with a little bit of rain

Take the time to compare the cost of flying to travelling by train. I prefer the train for the comfort and ease, but the European budget airlines (like EasyJet) can actually be cheaper. Whenever I compared a rail pass to buying individual tickets, the rail pass is never cheaper. Just my experience. Also if you want to buy tickets on-line but you don't live in Europe, watch out for th

I've seen the Stones 10 times and Bruce 9 times. Even though they all were born in the 1940's, they come from very different mind sets in terms of their relationship with the audience. Bruce relates closer to the audience and sees himself in some ways as one of them. He's half on stage and half in the crowd (literally). The Stones view the audience from a cool distance and always h

When Mick & Keith asked Bill to join them on the tour he said "Weep!" But when they told him it would be for only two songs, he said "Errr..", picked up his metal detector and walked out.

Quotegreenriver Won't go on two long years tour for only $82 millions, looks like peanuts. Anyway, at school on english lessons, we all knew that "my taylor is rich". "My taylor is rich" - that's funny! A woman in Nice told me once that was all the English she ever learned. Not the most useful phrase. Perhaps "Mick Taylor is rich" would actually start m

Jumpingjacklantern (or whatever he's calling himself these days) is like a house-guest that takes forever to leave. Keeps saying "goodbye!", standing at the open door, cold air coming in, "Yes, well better go then! Yes, well...Bye!" Then stands there some more...Good grief...

My guess is that he's an employee of Rollingstones.com sent over to add what they believe are positive comments and hints of future events. Seems to backfire a bit though.

I remember reading (or hearing) that it was left to Bill to do the scenes between the video, because no one else in the band was interested. They all knew that Bill was the historian of the group. Mick agreed to join in closer to the last minute.

I was there a few weeks ago; the view across from Villefranche was good enough for me. Bring some binoculars if you want a closer look. In 2006 I took a tour boat from Nice and the guide pointed in the general direction of Nellcote and exclaimed "That ees zee house of Meek Jagger!!!"

I've enjoyed his writing and the Youtube clips quite a bit. Even if I didn't agree with everything he wrote and said (such as the Iraq fiasco), he was always entertaining and thought-provoking. A great master of words who helped changed me from being a fence-sitting agnostic.

Sad news this morning. There will never be a voice like his again. "His singing, which was universally respected and just as widely imitated, found vulnerability and doubt behind the cheerful drive of honky-tonk. With a baritone voice that was as elastic as a steel-guitar string, he brought suspense to every syllable, merging bluesy slides with the tight, quivering ornaments of Appalachi

Quotecrholmstrom When Motley Crue opened in Seattle, there was a great Spinal Tap moment. They were doing their big, ugly power ballad with just Vince Neil & Tommy Lee playing keyboards. Vince did a big "C'mon, everybody sing along..." trip. Was met by deathly silence. You could've heard a pin drop. Was very funny. Other openers good & bad I've seen: Sheryl Crow (

QuoteHappy Jack If Maggie was so unpopular with the working class, how come she got reelected (twice?)? Um, I think that was answered already... EddieByword's analysis is more in-depth, but to make the point plainer: Thatcher never won more than 44% of the vote. The British Parliamentary system means that winner takes all, even though most people voted against her. (I would expect t

Quoteslew If all of the Brits don't like her hown the hell did she continue to get re-elected?? In the parliamentary system, you don't need the majority of votes to form a government. 30% to 35% is often good enough. And you don't vote for your Prime Minister either (at least in the UK and Canada).

Sad to say, but the article's right. I really can't understand why the Stones, at such a late stage in life, would be so determined to get so much money from the people who love their music .
