I've been there too - Buddy left his spot at the end of the bar and jumped up on stage for one entertaining number. Buddy's autobiography is a good read also, with lots of insights into the 50's and 60's Chicago blues scene and the greats like Wolf and Muddy.

I didn't think "Crock of Gold" was that bad: "Paddy Rolling Stone", "Rock n Roll Paddy", and "Paddy Public Enemy #1" (and a few others with "Paddy" in there somewheres). I think any friend or fan of Paddy, I mean Shane, would like it. "Across the Broad Atlantic: Live on Paddy's Day" (there it is again), is a decent, if slop

QuoteGADAWG Quoteotonneau Quotegimme_shelter Moneygrabbers So nice to see the Stones performing for a group of moneygrabbing vampires. What a shitty band they've become. "moneygrabbing vampires", lol - I'm with you there! Why not successful financial corporation? Obviously they have thousands of satisfied clients. This is another prime example of class envy. Why do

If I agree or disagree with Bruce or anyone else I pay my money to see listen to music and have a good time I can make up my mind without the help of Bruce Springsteen or any other celebrity. I want to hear the music not their

QuoteRollingFreak QuoteAngus MacBagpipe I think at the real heart of these criticisms is a contempt and dislike for Bruce's political and social views. He's backed off this tour with that stuff. Its all about the music and this incredible band. The guy really just keeps raising my expectations and breaking them every time. Whether or not one agree's with Bruce's opinions, I

Specialty Records "Greatest Gospel Gems" is a good collection for those who want to test the waters (before the full baptism in the rivers of righteousness,y'all!) Lots of greats on that one: Blind Boys of Alabama, Sam Cooke, Swan Silvertones and others.

QuoteSipuncula QuoteBeast of Babylon i guess they dont have freedom of speech in your country??? This is a message board. BV runs this message board. BV says no politics. You agreed not to talk politics. Many here are glad. Give me Taylor vs. Wood any day over that. Exactly - BV's board, his rules. There are plenty of other places to argue politics.

I'll be at the Vancouver show too (GA tickets). All these positive reviews are really encouraging - thanks! I'm not a big McCartney fan, but having him show up would certainly be a bonus. McCartney's next gig will be in Edmonton, so my guess is he'll stay in Vancouver an extra day or so after his show.

I really liked everything Dwight did, up until 2003's "Population Me". That album and "Blame the Vain" which followed were hit or miss. A couple of great tracks, the rest not so great. This one hasn't grabbed me either. The bits I've heard are all just okay. Now 2007's "Dwight Sings Buck" - THAT to me was his best in years.

Quotekovach Quoteloog droog By comparison, the Rock and Soul place seems a little sterile and "corporate," and yet still some nice things there to see. Even though I recommended it, I tend to agree. If you do Sun, Stax, and Graceland, the only thing really remaining is maybe some Al Green stuff at Rock and Soul (which is a great overview if you can't catch the other noted attr

Maybe he is a nice guy. Interesting that Marianne Faithful had nothing nice to say about him in her book and she's the type who tells it like she sees it. I've heard "Rock the Zydeco", but I didn't think it was anything special. Can't be an easy life though, having only one sibling but an exceptionally famous one. Thanks for the clip. I listened to my older brother's records when they were around, then went through a Doors period in the early 80's when there was revival in interest after the book "No One Here Gets Out Alive" came out. I listened to everything they did and eventually visited JM's grave. But with a deceased lead singer, little new material it's hard to maintain a high level of inter
