I think carlitosbaez posted it just because it's news about the Stones, not necessarily news to us though, in his defense. On the other hand, 40 Principales is not exactly a great source for news. I'm curious how they came to produce this news now.

ROPENI: It is always interesting to read Keith's take on what happened. I personally have not read, at least in very much detail, a lot on that album / period (or it's been too long to remember). Thanks for posting these notes here.

The real question is: What's that brown mark on his head in the Frankfurt pic? Directly above his nose, at his hairline, under the rag.

I bet that some of those trailers are 40 years old. I don't know any Iggy Pop history, but will ask around. A lot of the people I work with would know. Believe it or not, I've never been to that store. Looked at their sales bins during the art fair, though. Didn't find anything.

El Ejido is difficult to get to, isolated from the rest of Spain, and is in a poor area of Spain. If they are marketing to Europeans who will be there on holiday, they won't sell out because many go to other popular areas.

You may want to take the Cercanias train from the airport to town (Plaza de Cataluña, or another stop, depending on where your hotel is) and go from there. I recommend staying in the nearby, quiet beach town of Castelldefels; if you like a medieval setting check out Vic/Vich which is north of Barcelona.

The further from the stadium and closer to Plaza Mayor you are, the better tapas are. Unless you can find a mom and pop place, I wouldn't recommend any restaurants in the area of the stadium. That's my point, I guess - don't go to a VIPS (fast food), go to a local bar / restaurant. On a side note, the M-30 highway, near the stadium, is under construction, and is affecting traff

I've seen a few Ratdog shows, and have always enjoyed it. Good sets, small settings, good crowds, reasonable ticket prices.

Great thread.... Not to take credit from anyone, I think it was a time when the Stones were open to playing with more musicians to beef up their albums. Isn't it more likely that KR and MJ would credit themselves for an old blues tune, written by a master, than a new song written by Cooder?

9 pages? We have the chance to talk about, share the music of, remember, hope for the future of (choose one) the Rolling Stones. And the discussion turns to this? OK, here's my input: I have enjoyed MR live, and enjoy MR recorded. I like Saitama - I feel like they did more with MR than in many years. However the version I like best is on Ya Ya's. Please take advantage o

I have found it difficult to find many of the mentioned recordings from the 50s or even 60s. My only luck finding material of Berry, Waters, Diddley, etc, has been on compilations (Chess box sets, greatest hits cds). Even if the albums did exist back then, many of them are not issued on cd, right?

So if he landed on his back, like Ron says, how would he have a "dent" on the left - front side? Not that I much care. I'm glad the Stones will be back on the road soon.

Bingo - thanks for your comments. Very much appreciated. For those that do not like the Dead as much, I understand that these are two very different bands, but please don't knock either one based on your tastes. I think a lot has to do with what you want out of the music. And these two bands provide two different types. The Dead did have virtuosos - many over the years. Each member pl

It is an interesting proposal. I wish that the Stones would do more of what just comes naturally, like the Dead did, for better or for worse. Instead of beating the war horses night after night, the Stones could just play their songs and whatever comes to mind. That was part of the enjoyment of the Dead shows, that you never knew what to expect. But you can always have a general idea of what the

Why, when people want to type symbols that represent a bad word, skip the symbol that is above the number 6? Everyone types @#$%&. If it is a bad word, what difference does it make whether it is !@#$%^&*().... Long live the Stones.

Sorry, but El Corte Inglés, according to La Vanguardia (Barcelona newspaper) sold computer technology to the Spanish government that was used in the Iraq war and also in their costal patrols around Africa. ECI is also overpriced. A lot of their merchandise, besides the name brand stuff, could be found for half the price at Alcampo or Carrefour or some other store. The best deals in Spain
