I just booked my flight(s) Amsterdam - Liverpool (vv) and I am into finding a place to get some sleep before and after the concert. Lots of places have increased their price, but the distances within Liverpool are okay, so I'm not really worried. If nothing works it could be the dugout of the famous soccer team

Me listening to the Stones is totally free of logic. It could be any album at any time (off course other artists in between just to stay sane ). Sometimes I look at the rack to see all those Stones CDs and I say "let's forget about the Stones" - silly joke off course. I have those days that I get taken away by one particular song and then listen to it over and over again. Curre

QuoteRockNStonesBR Quotegeorgie48 This is really funny to read. QuoteTheBadRabbit I think this is the first time I've ever heard of Charlie having a sibling. I never thought Charlie's relatives were a possible topic of interest to Stones fans in general. In 2007, third O2 Arena concert, I was sitting next to a lady (and her son) who turned out to be Charlie's aunt. We had a brief, but nice conversation, but I never felt like "publis

I don't know if anyone had noticed (I don't feel like checking 27 pages ...), but on BV's News page there is that piece of globe showing Europe. Although the tour is marked as a 14 concerts tour, there is this small logo on the spot of the city of Helsinki (15 logos in total). Did they drop Helsinki or is it still an option?

QuoteHairball Quoteillyad1960 For me the formula is simple. Expensive ticket + No new Lp + Static set list = lack of ticket sales. The Stones really aren't giving fans a reason to purchase tickets. Almost the same song list from 50th anniversary tour only without Mick Taylor guest appearance. Times are economicly difficult for many fans and as we all know, when it comes to money the Stones w

Quotestargroover This is gonna be a depressing post,LOL Well, you can "always look at it from the bright side of life" (as the Monty Pyton gang used to sing ). We're all on the same ship (as Mick used to sing ) so we (who use gas) all have to pay for the rise. Life goes on and (as GLS says ) they still buy Starbucks ... The human race will prevail. Imagine the caldera underne

QuoteIrix Quotegeorgie48 Back in Liverpool I heard that there had been some problems, because the Stones arrived (about an hour or so) late. As described in the article by , April 15, 1971. Thanks Irix! Amazing to read that story. At the time one had no idea what happened “behind the scene”. Despite all those traveling and other problems they managed to complete that historic tour an

QuoteRisingStone Quotegeorgie48 Not very shocking, but here I go. Thank you for your recollection of the show. And, no, your post is quite shocking, really — leaving a Led Zeppelin concert halfway through the show in 1971! In the times they were at the hight of their power! Unbelievable! You are entitled to proudly call yourself “the man who walked away from a Led Zeppelin gig”. FYR th

QuoteStonedRambler QuoteTheflyingDutchman QuoteStonedRambler QuoteTheflyingDutchman A bit confusing. Are we referring to tempo or timing in this thread? Good question. But it's hard to seperate with the Stones when we're talking about Charlie following Keith. If you put the speed of any Stones song at X 0,5, you can hear that sometimes Charlie's beat is ahead of Keith, and vice

QuoteRisingStone Quotegeorgie48 I did see other acts though in Liverpool in 1971. How about LED Zeppelin and The Who? Real hot shots that year. If you have any questions, just let me know. I’m interested in your firsthand account of Led Zeppelin in Liverpool 1971. Can you please share your story with us IORRians? Not very shocking, but here I go. In 1971 I off course already was a solid Roll

QuoteJaymitchell2001 Quotegeorgie48 1971 ..... Liverpool. Some useful information there that I’ll look into, thanks for that! Unfortunately the piece I’m writing is just about the Stones and their return to Liverpool so the other bands won’t be too useful, I appreciate the offer though! Are you going to see them on June 9?

1971 ..... Liverpool. A hystoric year of my life. But ... bad news. I didn't see the Stones in Liverpool that year, because I had arranged with friends to see them in Bristol (Colston Hall, March 9). No regrets whatsoever, because it was a great concert. Back in Liverpool I heard that there had been some problems, because the Stones arrived (about an hour or so) late. Fans became impatient

QuoteBarkerboy2 On the 'TFI The Rolling Stones' show with Chris Evans broadcast back in 97 or 98 (I forget), Ronnie definitely said that he can barely see the audience when he was onstage, so I am sure he wears glasses at home - or perhaps he had laser surgery since then. Don't worry about the eyesight of Mick, Keith and Ronnie (Charlie was doing even better). On occasionally sur

Any of the above mentioned options would be welcome! Personally I would love to have some 1971 Goodbye Britain tour visual recordings. I had a really great time in Bristol (Colston Hall, March 9)! So far I haven't found a recording of that day (I went to see the second show). But the memories are still very vivid .

Don't forget, dear Stones friends .... Life is a gift. For some a beautiful gift, for many a terrible "gift". Nature can be great but also cruel. At my age (almost 74) I can only say that I have been very fortunate and I only feel (am) 5 years younger than Mick Jagger . Being "forced" to be our heroes (or whatever) did put a lot of strain on their lives. With "force

I live in a country with a King and Queen, but I am maybe going to spoil this thread ... Who needs kings and queens? Aren't they merely (expensive) decoration these days? Haven't they exploited the hard working people enough over all those many Centuries? My father-in-law received a decoration (knighthood or anything like that) from the Japanese Emperor ... after his death. I nicely

Quotedaniel t Just to shut the mouths of those who bashed Daltrey for his comments about the Stones, here is a quote from a recent interview, from the Palm Beach Post: “Townshend's songs are incredibly demanding for a singer,” he said. “They’re lyrically complicated, there's never two songs together in the same key, so it's moving about all over the place, and it takes a lot of

Quotespikenyc Peter Wolf is a national treasure! Oeps, why didn't I know? I ran into the guy (or he into me, who cares) when I was on my way to a great balcony front seat in the Boston Orpheum Theatre in 2002. QuoteNashvilleBlues QuoteStoneage It's mainly the prices on concert tickets that have skyrocketed. In 1990, for example the price for a concert ticket was about 1,5 that of an LP. In other words affordable for most. You got that right. In 1994, I bought a pit ticket for Pearl Jam for $19. Pearl Jam ????? Jeeeeeeez*s, this isn't even comparing apples with pears. We're talking a

I heard that the Stones (Mick?) were pissed because Cohl and Rupert had made up a plan to have the Stones tour for around 1 billion dollars. Slave-Stones for massive numbers of concerts (like Michael Jackson in O2) and then ripping off the fans … True or not … interesting

Quoteribbelchips The real fans? I always thought they were 'rent-a-fans'. Like the girls in the Beacon Theatre shows... I heard that, but I also saw interviews with real fans selected on age! Because of the 6 minutes in which all had to be set up (including running to the pit under shelter of the segments) they didn’t want to take a risk with “old” fans (I hate that idea because at al

I was up all night to see that Super Ball live and recorded the whole lot. Good thing about watching it in Europe was that there were no silly bleeps! Does that mean my recording is worth a fortune to Americans? (kidding ). I actually was in shock watching that unique stage being build up in 6 or so minutes right in front of my eyes !!!! And then the real fans surfacing from under the tongue .
