I wonder whatever happened to "Ian Crawford & The Boomerangs" - did they go on to find success in another group incarnation or just go back to their day jobs. Andy

When I read the header for this I thought that it was something about the great Mantan Moreland and the notorious Fatty Arbuckle although how those two could be connected god only knows. Andy

Agree about the Astoria - never really liked it much but the 100 Club is/was a classic venue. Seen some great gigs there - Hot Rize Le Rue Pretty Things Jefferson Starship Stray Groundhogs Space Ritual and many more really benefits by being a small intimate venue. A couple of badly placed pillars and rubbish over priced beer are the only negatives for me. Andy

Not heard the album so I can't judge it at all but I did read a review where the reviewer says that there's no doubting his love of the blues etc but he sounds as though he isn't singing from the heart but rather from his record collection. A criticism that is levelled at a lot of middle class white blues artists. andy

Boy were they good back then. Great guitar from MT and for stage props - just chuck a bucket of water over the audience. Love the 73 tour. andy

Typifies why I hate the fashion industry and rags like Esquire. £225 for a silk scarf - do me a favour. Andy

I shall go down to the shop in Chatham which is participating. The sad thing is that there are always lots of c**ts in the queue that are simply buying copies to put up on ebay a week or so later to make money. No real interest in music , A bit like some of those people queing for a signed copy of Keith's book. Andy

Don Harrison band were just straightforward rock if I remember anything about them at all. There were lots of bands just like them back then - competant but nothing special. Someone has to go on first though so fair play to them. Hot Tuna - I was a Aig airplane fan but Hot Tuna were very bluesy. I really enjoyed them. A band you could sit back, relax and listen to. Todd Rundgren - I thought

"Women are all the same - they just look different so you can tell them apart" ouch! "It has a message no pigeon would carry" both quotes are lines from old movies. The latter is a film critic telling Vincent Price what he thinks of one his ham movies. Andy

I guess they will try to shift as many box sets as they can first and then hopefully once that market has been exhausted they may release them individually at sensible prices. Andy

I think he actually gives the UMG box set a 7 for sound (first page of the article) it's just not that obvious from the way that the page is formatted. I was really hoping for a decent Exile but alas it is not to be. Looks like i will have to buy an original US pressing. I can understand the possible problems with the zipper cover but surely Some Girls is not that much of a challenge.

If you get your cock out on stage it's art but if you do it in the street it's a crime. Discuss. Genesis P. Orridge used to do this onstage a bit as well - any others? andy

I have the Sundazed mono vinyl releases of Highway 61 and Bringin It All Back home - they are really great. I was going to get Blonde on Blonde as well but may wait for the new release instead. Are these vinyl LP's going to be released separately 'cos I'm not paying out for that full box set. Andy

Clearly a song that sharply divides opinion. Personally I can't stand it and find the lyrics embarrassing. i don't have any problem with the Stones "disco" material and really much prefer Dance Pt1/2 to ER or even Miss You. andy

I would be interested in Satanic, Bleed and Beggars if available separately but they would have to be excellent 180g audiophile pressings and not like the recent Exile vinyl release which was a total travesty. Andy

I have got 3 record decks, 2 reel to reel tape decks and a jukebox so maybe I could squeeze a radiogram in there somewhere. They do look tempting and I remember the one we had in our family back in the late 60's. You are right those old things really sound great. Andy

Many thanks for the advice and your English is perfect. I guess that the stylus is the important element. I have a Pro-Ject Genie III turntable which currently has a Goldring stereo cartridge fitted. The original cartridge for this deck was an Ortofon and I see that they also produce a mono stylus which fits the standard Ortofon cartridge. I will replace my Goldring cartridge with the Ortofon and

Over the last few years I have been aquiring a fair number of mono LP's (jazz, original 60's pressings, Sundazed 180g audiophile etc). I play them using a stereo cartridge through a stereo only amp. Some hi-fi mags suggest that mono LP's should be played usung a mono cartridge but I can't be bothered to keep swapping cartidges around or afford an extra deck. I remember my old
