'A Bigger Bang' was the final studio album by the Rolling Stones--make no mistake about it. They've ended their recording career with a very good album that was certified "platinum" (though it really wasn't), keeping up the streak they've had since 1968. They don't want to end their career with a studio album that would end up selling maybe 200,000 copies

Actually--her covers album is called '12' and will be out May 1, 2007. An interesting collection of songs..."Gimme Shelter," "Changing Of The Guards," "Are You Experienced?," "Everybody Wants To Rule The World"(?), "White Rabbit," "The Boy In The Bubble," "Helpless," "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "Pasti

Can't wait for her covers record to come out. I read that she was covering "Salt Of The Earth" on it (which would be perfect for her) but maybe she's covering "Gimme Shelter." Would be interesting to hear!

Most welcome--and best--band reunion? The New York Dolls. No question. Go see 'em if you don't believe me. I will hear no arguments to the contrary.

I thought Bono was acting like he was WAY too cool to be singing on a Mick Jagger song and too cool to be eating lunch with him (after all, he had just cut Mick and Lizzie's backing vocals from a U2 song). I think he views the Rolling Stones as much a part of the musical past as the Beatles...a good band and good songwriters a long, long time ago but no longer on the creative and commercial

The bargain bin still has 'Sticky Fingers,' 'Exile On Main St,' 'Some Girls,' 'Black and Blue,' 'Undercover,' 'Still Life,' 'Flashpoint,' and 'Steel Wheels.' 'A Bigger Bang' will go out of print, too...after a swing by the cut-out bins as well. GeorgeLicks....how many copies did 'A Bigger Bang&#

Does anyone know? I would assume that after what's out there sells--or gets returned to the distributor--they will be gone. As I've said before, I've seen the back catalogue from 'Sticky Fingers' on in the cut-out bins for $9.99 (and they STILL aren't selling). I remember between when the Stones' CBS contract expired and the Virgin contract started that t

...according to the new issue of Rolling Stone Magazine. It has been combined with Capitol Records and will go by that name. Lots of artists are going to be dropped (probably even artists like Bryan Ferry, etc.). So are The Rolling Stones going to end up on Capitol? How weird. The Beatles label! It seems odd that for the first time in 44 years the Rolling Stones are without a record labe

Maybe the Stones will go BACK to Columbia and Rubin will produce their albums. They would definitely then have a late-career renaissance, no question about it (but, Mick, no matter what you do, neither you nor the Rolling Stones will EVER have another hit single. So don't try. No more "Anybody Seen My Baby"'s, no more "Streets Of Loves"'s. Let that go and

Koen--that was funny. I actually went to the site. Tommy Wood. HAH! All of Ron's sons look almost exactly alike--and are all very handsome. It's hard to tell them apart.

...and I always thought that the Faces were the second best rock n' roll band of all-time until I saw the New York Dolls last year. And I saw seen the Faces live as well. I still think think that the Faces WERE the second best rock n' roll band ever but I think that the Dolls CURRENTLY hold that title. It's just one person's opinion that means nothing but that's my hon

I have heard and read that the two most influential bands of all-time are the Beatles and the Ramones. I agree. Think about it. The influence of those two bands is still felt in music today, moreso than anyone else in music history. Odd--one is one of the best-selling bands of all-time with nothing but hit singles and the other is one of the worst-selling bands in history with no hit sing

There is a new Ronnie Lane retrospective CD reviewed in the latest issue of Rolling Stone Magazine. It's a boxed review and they gave it four out of five stars. I'm going to order it now.

Little Queenie--I guarantee you if you saw them live you'd be enthused. See them this year if you can. It wasn't on my local PBS station either! Apparently all local stations don't take the national feed at the time of the original broadcast if they don't want to and show it whenever. We'll get it here Saturday at midnight.

Chris Isaak--fantasic. One of my 10 favorite artists ever--extremely underrated. I've been listening to his 'Best Of...' collection a lot lately. His version of Roy Orbison's "Only The Lonely" is unsurpassed. I have everything he's ever recorded (including b-sides) and have seen him in concert 10 times since 1985...he's amazing live. And very funny.

Are the Rolling Stones really without a record deal??????? I've noticed at my local independent record store that everything from STICKY FINGERS on is in the bargain bin for $9.98. Better get'em while you still can! Looks like they're all going out-of-print for a while...maybe forever. It may be that you will only be able to download them to you computer and iPod from now on.

'According To The Rolling Stones' is available from Barnes & Noble for $5.98. It was originally $40.00. Stones books never sell well, for some reason. Beatles books, yes--Stones books, no. Even Bill's book never made any Best-seller lists when it was released. It went out-of-print pretty fast though it's back in print now, I believe, from a small press.

A French version of "Paint It, Black" was in 'Talladega Nights: The Legend Of Ricky Bobby,' one of the worst movies I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. Mick Jagger's "God Gave Me Everything" was featured prominently in 'Bruce Almighty,' so he gets some fat royalty checks from that on a regular basis.

www.pattismith.net. Subscribe to her newsletter. They're wonderful. The new one about the New Year and her being inducted into the Hall Of Fame is priceless. Pick up her latest albums GUNG HO and trampin' (it's spelled in lower case). They're as good, and in some cases better, than her Seventies albums. She's one of the very few artists you can say that about.

OK...here's a dumb question for you all. Is the name of the band FACES or THE Faces?? Rod and Ron and the others always refer to the band as THE Faces but on the albums it's always "Produced By Faces," or "Best Of Faces" or in the 1975 Rolling Stones tour program it says "Ron Wood Courtesy Of Rod Stewart and Faces" (which probably didn't go down very
