QuoteHairball “I wanted to see if it would blossom into something else, like a three-guitar band." - Keith Imagine...what if... a shame it didn't work out that way, but I feel blessed to have experienced those shows six times - the last of the truly great shows imo. ‘Midnight Rambler’ over the last year or so (with Taylor guesting) has been amazing" Indeed it was. Technique by New Order. Their signature sound making, combining a human factor with technologies, culminated with Low-life and Brotherhood. They’ve gone too “techie” on this one, arguably their masterpiece, which has resulted in a number of tracks here sounding over-mechanical to my ears. Songs Of Faith And Devotion by Depeche Mode. Not a bad album in itself, but going bluesy started to spoil

Quotetreaclefingers Quoteslewan QuoteHomerSimpson Get Your Ya Ya’s Out I know it’s supposed to be the best live album ever, best thing the Stones have put out ,etc. To me it’s just an average at best album. I purchased it sometime in the late 80’s and recently got it on used vinyl. But I very rarely play it. I much prefer the KBFO tape from 1978, the Live at the Marquee album, and of co

One intriguing thing about the Glasgow show is that he didn’t include Mull Of Kintyre in the setlist. It was not only played in Hampden Park 2010, but also at the O2 Arena 2009 and the Echo Arena 2011, all three times accompanied by a full Scottish pipe band. One can only guess why it wasn’t done this time in Glasgow of all places. Anyone?

QuoteBowieStone QuoteRisingStone The rise of Revolver and the fall of Pepper for the last two decades or so...I suspect snobbery acts some role here. My two cents. Yep, I agree. There's still hope for Dirty Work. This is, dare I say it, one of the worst revisionisms that has ever happened and spread in the history of rock ‘n’ roll criteria IMHO.

QuoteROLLINGSTONE Paul McCartney was absolutely blistering in Glasgow last night. One of the best performances I've ever saw from anyone and I wouldn't even describe myself as a huge fan. Really just went to strike him from my bucket-list but so, so glad I got a ticket. I was there. Blistering. Exactly. Supposing from your comment, Friday was seemingly your first Macca show. This is

Quotenoughties QuoteRisingStone I never get this demotion of Sgt. Pepper that’s been going on over the years. I thought it was a great, even perfect record when I first heard it in early 70’s, and my impression hasn’t changed one bit ever since. On the other hand, I feel Revolver is way overrated these days. Undoubtedly a good album in its own right, though not in the same league as Pepper IMHO.

Quotenoughties QuoteRisingStone I always find I fail to understand the almost universal praise on Physical Graffiti. There are some killer tunes, some so-so tracks and some fillers living together in the building. In fact, that about one third of the material are outtakes from the group’s previous works testifies to some of them, if not all, literally falling into the tag it is — “fillers”. I hav

I enjoyed both performances although I also prefer Steve Miller’s to John Fogerty’s. A great rock and blues set with some pop flavour. Fabulous talk, too. He deserves a minor legend status. The only time I saw John Fogerty before is 2012 Hard Rock Calling, the night The Boss and Macca’s rare stint together was infamously cut short due to the curfew. I don’t think last night’s show was lesser i

I caught his American Utopia show at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in June and thought it was inventive and brilliant. Being the man of Stop Making Sense, it was predictably arty as almost all of his shows ever were, but that’s how he is. Arty yes, but it does work (and make sense) here. I didn’t buy a ticket for his current arena show though — guess it may lack some intimacy.

Definitely one of the best if not THE best. The way he engages with the audience is so dedicated, a pure manifestation of commitment in itself. A captivating singer and performer he is. Respect.

1366. Re: OT: U2
Manchester second night. Great — but not so mind-blowing. That’s how I felt. Titled as Experience + Innocence Tour, this is essentially pt. 2 of 2015’s Innocence + Experience Tour (confusing eh?). Same stage set, different songs. I was every bit impressed by 2015 London first show. As much as I enjoyed the Joshua Tree show in Dublin last year (that gigantic projector screen!), it was basically a

I’m going to the Manchester show, too, on Saturday though. My seat is lower stand, opposite side of the main stage but very close to the B stage. Looking forward to it. Of recent years, I saw London first night 2015 and Dublin 2017, both great and satisfying enough for this non-hardcore. I haven’t followed their tour activities closely on the internet, know very little about the current set exce

Tell Me — believe it or not, one of the Stones’ biggest hits in Japan, and many old timers have fond memories of this song. Ruby Tuesday — also a hit in Japan and a usual suspect on this thread.

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 I think I might have missed Paul Kantner passing. The JA were a very odd assembly of characters. Really odd. I am still not a major fan. This is not the place to go into that though. Like his music or not - there was always something graceful about Marty Balin. IIRC Grace Slick confessed somewhere that, among the Airplane members, Marty was the only one who didn’t

Not a few claim it was the single greatest RS show that happened in Japan, I just couldn’t believe myself that such a strong performance was achieved by them as late at a timing in

Not my favorite album and tour. I only saw Tokyo #2 and Nagoya. That being said, Tokyo #2 was a very strong performance, a typical Mick Jagger-driven show. Better than any of the four dome shows of the Licks tour in Japan IMHO.

Back from Hyde Park. I was blown away. I’m sure everybody was. Just spectacular. Yes, the giant screen was there and it was so overwhelming. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. Now I’m glad I made it to this show. Whether you like his political/social views (there were a lot) is another thing — but that’s Roger for you.

Attended Manchester and Edinburgh. Of the two, I can say without hesitation, Manchester was better by miles, no contest. Had a blast, was blown away. A stellar performance (especially MR), one of the greatest RS shows I’ve ever been to see. FYI I saw Düsseldorf 2017, which I rate above Edinburgh but below Manchester. How subjective, personal and different a concert experience can be dependin

I saw Jeff Beck at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Wednesday last week (the 13th), equally impressed and disappointed at the same time; impressed because of his tricky-as-ever virtuoso guitar playing as well as the impeccable performance of the combo (Vinnie Coliuta’s drumming is one to look at!), disappointed because it turned out to be a non-Loud Hailer show (no Carmen Vandenberg and Rosie Bo
