I have only attended the modern Stones shows (1989-). Of them, the first three, i.e. stage sets of Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge and B2B were all impressive, especially SW and B2B. More or less downhill thereafter for me unfortunately. And then No Filter stage reclaimed my admiration. Four huge projector screens across the back of the stage — simple, economical and effective. Reminded me of the mon

Speaking of Clapton joining in the Stones, here is an unknown anecdote that may be of interest for IORRians. You know the Stones’ proposed first Japanese visit 1973 gone cancelled due to Mick’s previous drug bust? Back then, there was a possibility that not only Mick but also Keith might have been marked by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in regard to issuing the entry visa. And if Keith, i

Quotetatters QuotePaddy Looking forward to this. One of the earliest bands I got into via a friends older brother, He saw them twice on that reunion tour in 93. Said they weren’t great. Anyone here catch them on that run of gigs? We never got a reunion tour here in the States. Closest we got was the Reed/Cale Songs for Drella shows in 1989. I saw two of those, including one where Maureen

From circumstantial evidence, there is no doubt that Clapton made a racial slur and announced his support for Enoch Powell during his concert in Birmingham, August 5, 1976 — some 45 years ago. There is no denying that this is the biggest disgrace he brought upon himself in his entire career, and I think it is fair to claim that he deserves the valid criticism for his behavior that night. Quoteterraplane Thanks for this. Everything I have heard from the Lockdown Sessions sounds sublime. Didn't know it was being shown at cinemas. Like I mentioned in my post, as far as I know, public screening of Lockdown Sessions at cinemas is happening exclusively in Japan for some reason or other.

In the meantime — In Japan, the public screening of Lady In The Balcony: Lockdown Sessions started on October 8. It is a limited run at selected cinemas, 2 to 7 days’ period depending on the houses. As I reported upthread , the on-cinema version has more than 15-mins extra, rehearsals, behind-the-scene shots, interviews etc. that is not included in the forthcoming DVD/BD releases. I haven’

Quotetatters Exactly how tall is Ronnie anyway? Reason I ask is, the guy with the red arrow pointing at his head looks like he's no bigger than Paul Simon or Phil Spector. Seriously, like 5'2" or something. That’s what I thought, too.

Most likely The Jeff Beck Group times (during the recording of the Truth album — it was recorded on 14–15 and 25–26 May 1968, which coincides with the recording sessions of Beggars Banquet. And both groups used the Olympic Studios, at least partially).

Quotecrholmstrom QuoteRisingStone Quotecrholmstrom Wish he would tour US! You guys have the Stones right now, though. The neighbours grass..? No, I want both! At this point (sans Charlie) I think if they were the same night I would go to Nick Cave. Also, wouldn't have to go into debt to see the Cave show. Just saying....I've seen the Stones well over 20 times going back to 1978

Although I’ve had enough of the warhorses like many folks here, I felt quite refreshing when they played Satisfaction in the early part of the show of the VL tour and then as the show opener of the B2B tour. Can they do the same for the other warhorses if they want to keep them in the setlist? Obviously some careful consideration is needed to do so as such tactics may easily call for an anticlima

Saw Nick Cave & Warren Ellis performing soundtrack album Carnage in Stoke-On-Trent. Amazing performance. That was September 7, almost a month ago — I should have reported here then. And last night I saw them again in Glasgow. No tour fatigue shown, even more amazing performance, a sublime experience even. It is a full scale UK tour — a pity that the tickets don’t seem to sell well in regional

It is sad to hear a Stones fan pass away. R.I.P. and my condolences to his family and friends. QuoteStoneage How sad. I think he sold most of his collection a couple of years ago. And kind of lost interest in the band. At least the modern version of it. I can understand those sentiments. Things come and go. Such is life. Safe journey. I searched with his alias, Stone-Relics, on the board.

Pittsburg is the place where I saw The Rolling Stones in person for the first time. September 6, 1989 — only the fifth show of their first tour in seven years, the longest hiatus in their career. On arriving at the site, I thought to myself, “Catching the Steel Wheels show in the ‘Iron City’, and at the home base of the Pittsburg Steelers, is cool.” Thirty-two years have passed since then.

Why not playing both — a dozen shows at the RAH and a couple in Hyde Park for instance. This will be their 60th anniversary!

Quotegotdablouse QuoteStonesfan2146 Just the 3 of them walking out there makes no sense. 2019 was probably the last tour with b-stage. Who knows, there was no B-Stage set from 2012 to 2018 after all ! True. The existence of the catwalk doesn’t necessarily mean it has a B-stage although we sometimes confuse them.

As much as I miss Charlie like everybody else here on the IORR land, I’m pleased to hear Steve help reinventing those familiar Stones songs, giving them a new texture, which is so refreshing in one way or the other. It would be more unnatural, even frightening, if the sound of this new version of the Stones hasn’t changed one bit, faithful to what they sounded like in the previous times when C

Now people miss Brown Sugar, the warhorse among the warhorses. So do I. That’s why warhorses are warhorses, if you allow me to use someone else’s expression. I just thought Keith reminded me of the late Peter Green with that hat on.
