D’ya Know What I Mean? was a promising lead single from the then forthcoming third album, Be Here Now. I liked it when it came out. The album fell short of expectation though. In all fairness, I didn’t (and still don’t) think it was as bad as it was slammed in some quarters, including Noel himself when the initial hype died down. But there was no denying some anticlimactic air surrounding it. I v

Quotetreaclefingers Well I think it is interesting that if it were Mick, there is no way there would be a show. Not possible. In the very strict sense of the words, even this wouldn’t be the case. During the Keith set, Mick leaves the stage, completely off sight. No one doubts they are “The Rolling Stones”

Quotetreaclefingers Well I think it is interesting that if it were Mick, there is no way there would be a show. Not possible. On the other hand, I think it's plausible for any of the other 3, even Keith, to not be onstage and they could pull it off (I saw Seattle 2019, he was rather irrelevant to the program). The crazy thing is that Mick as a solo artist couldn't pull in the a

I remember this. When Steve was a touring member of Eric Clapton in 2006-7 and 2013, a roadie often changed the cymbals of his drum kit during the show, this cymbal for this song, that cymbal for that song, a very quick job that was done in a few seconds between songs. I have never seen any other drummer doing that. Don’t know if it happened when he toured with Keith — never seen Keith solo li

All this talk and speculation about Charlie sitting in for a couple of songs, e.g. for encore. I’m assuming some of it stems from our shared memory of Mick Taylor’s role during the 50 Years & Counting/14 On Fire tours, his limited and brief appearances to the stage. Personally I don’t think it will happen as Charlie’s case is related to a health issue, which is a different situation. Maybe

Another sore point I hold against Oasis is, I have an impression they spread the custom of total singalong among the general public, something I feel annoying depending on the circumstances. Now the punters sing aloud not only “anthems” but also deeply personal songs if not on every given occasion. At one music festival in London, while headliner Nick Cave was performing, a young student-type nea

Additional comment to quietbeatle — I don’t think many old Stones fans say everything since Mick Taylor sucks. “Some might say” everything since Ronnie Wood sucks. There may be some more who say the modern Stones 1989 onwards suck. But very few of them say the Taylor-era Stones suck I’m sure.

Quotequietbeatle Tells me nothing. Sounds like the same old Stones' ''fans'' who say everything since Mick Taylor sucks. All of Oasis' albums had great tunes on them. Their last album DIG OUT YOUR SOUL was fantastic IMO. "Don't Believe The Truth" is in my Top 3 Oasis albums. They put their spin on 60's and 70's stuff. And made it theirs a

I saw Oasis nine times, 94-09, all in Osaka but one free music festival in Rome commemorating May Day 2002, during my holiday stay over there. I witnessed their rise to stardom in Japan, from the 650-capacity Club Quattro to the 10k+ Osaka-jo (i.e. “castle”) Hall as well as a headlining appearance at the Summer Sonic festival. They were always entertaining, fun to watch. A good time was had by al

Quotecrawdaddy I went to three of the Cream Reunion gigs at Royal Albert Hall, and they were great. I attended the Cream Union 2005 at the RAH, too, the first and last nights. The majority of voices from the fans is inclined towards the third night (Thursday, May 5) being the best, but these two nights I witnessed were also great — and certainly most emotional of the whole lot. QuoteNashvilleBlues QuoteRisingStone Quoteangee IMO, just from following Charlie from afar, he wouldn't be comfortable sharing his drumming with another drummer while playing with The Rolling Stones. Probably he has never done that with the Stones. He certainly did on the ARMS 1983 shows, though, with Kenney Jones. Wasn’t there another drummer (percussionist) with Charlie at Hyde Park 1

QuoteRocktiludrop There is also a scenario to all this that works better, Steve Jordan isn't just a drummer, he's a producer, I'm kind of toying with the idea that this long awaited album needs finishing, would Steve Jordan be benificial in helping the Stones finish this album, we already know he works well with Keith creatively. If Charlie returns why cant we have two drummers an

Actually quite a few dates will be available at the RAH once a month’s residency by The Cirque du Soleil finishes on February 12. From then on, more dates are available than unavailable for next few months at this point. The RAH shows, if they happen, will be not so much about profit as a combined celebration of the venue’s 150th and group’s 60th anniversary. For example, appx. 4-8 shows with

Quotecrholmstrom How about if Charlie wants to retire? He has certainly more than earned the right to do that if that's what he wanted. Drumming is a young man's game for the most part. He's pretty much in uncharted territory now in regards to rock drummers. Ringo is in the same age range & he's had another drummer with him live for many years. I don’t mind an additional

Quotewavelength What a sham! The band achieved musical irrelevance decades ago and transformed themselves into a travelling Disney show. They are selling a dream. They might as well have found a replacement drummer that looked sort of like Charlie, put a white wig on him and no one would know. So the Olympic Games are over, one of the most uncelebrated of their modern history that spans over 125 years. Despite — or because of — that, this will be remembered as one of the most memorable for years to come. And it is not necessarily for all the wrong reasons. Tokyo 2020 has proved that even behind the doors, excitement is there to be appreciated. No spectators, no Olympics? Yes it stil

What’s wrong with casual fans? Most likely 90% of music listeners are casual fans. They were, they are and they will be. And it is them who have helped The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, The Who, Led Zeppelin etc. to rise to stardom, not a handful of diehards. If it were not for casual fans, these musicians could not have established their career and popularity as we know it, and co

This is all about $$$$$$$$ and anything other than the Rolling Stones on the tick
