QuoteStonesTod and you call yourself a rocker? I don't call myself a rocker. I'm only a pretty bad guitar player who think that playing this instrument is hard enough without rain, wind or cold.

Johnny Halliday, our "so called" french rock star, cancelled his stadium show because of the rain in Paris, the same night the Stones played brilliantly in Den Haag. Concentration is one thing, but as a (bad) guitarist myself, i can't imagine playing guitar on a wet instrument, with wet clothes stuck on my body.

IT will always amaze me. How can they play that good, often better, under hard rain? IT must be so uncomfortable. One funny story, i remember the face of the guy of our hotel when my friends and myself came back from the Den Haag show in 98. Covered with mud from the feet to the balls. For one minute we thought that he would never open the door. We've been very close to be homeless for on

QuoteJumpinJeppeFlash Without any doubt! Paris stade de france was the best show of the 2007 tour! It seems we were not at the same concert. Maybe i've made a mistake with my transport reservation and i've seen another band in another city....

Even if i've been very disappointed about the BB tour, especially the last leg, i'll be there. I can't imagine not being there for their last ever concert, after more than 35 years of addiction. But i'm definitely done with those ridiculous prices in USA. As far as i love travelling USA and meeting all those wonderfull people, no way i would put 500 bucks one more time for a t

As far as i can see the shows, of course yes. But honestly, i wouldn't like to get close to the Stones. I don't want to take the risk to be disapointed.

Good point. His specific sound was a big part of the Who style. I remember that when i was young and listened to the Who for the first times, i didn't understand how Pete could play all those guitar notes. Till i realized that some rythm parts came from John's bass. It's the problem with Pino Paladino, who is indeed a very good bass player. He just doesn't have The Sound.

Quoteandrea66 But please, let's don't write anymore about touring according the economical situation. U2, Springsteen, AC_DC, Dave Matthews and many others filled stadiums and arenas in times of very bad economy. if you have something to tell and to communicate, people understand and spend money. Don't know about Dave Matthews, i wouldn't go to see him even if he paid me, bu

QuoteSilver Dagger And yes, probably the best ever rock bassist. I agree. Looking at the guy playing was amazing. It reminds me Jimi Hendrix playing guitar. Both didn't seem to think about what they did with their fingers, just like if the instrument was a part of their bodies. Just a natural and inconcient thing like you and me breathing or walking. Probably a bigger lost for the Who tha

QuoteGazza I remain very unconvinced about this myself. I woudnt doubt that individually Mick and hopefully Keith have been working on songs, but I havent seen or read anything to suggest that two or more of them have been in a studio together at any time. I certainly dont think Ronnie and Charlie have been doing anything like that, and Mick and Keith never seem to be on the same continent for

QuoteMassimo68 Since last year, there is a "Michael Jackson syndrom" with promoters and insurance companies. Too much money on the table, many risks with Ron, and maybe with Keith (insurance companies have not forgotten the ABB tour). So, I think this is the major plot of this decision. Agree with you, but i would call it a "Rolling Stones syndrom", and would say many ri

I remember too, and i'm not nostalgic about it. The only good thing is that the tickets were much less xpensive, and that al that crap about memberships, special tickets packages, tc, didn't exist. But to get tickets in foreign countries was not easy. The only way was to know somebody in those countries. Internet made thing much easier, for tickets, hotel and transport reservations.

For a long time, i've been thinking that the end of the story would be a tragedy because i've spent a big part of my life waiting for the next Stones tour. Two years after this show, i realize that i can live without the Stones and that everything come to an end. I mean, it's writen since the beginning, the Stones are just older than most of us. In fact, i will miss more what i

Nice memories too. 4 shows in a little more than a week. Only the SDF concert was a bit disapointing. Marseille was a @#$%& great show with a very warm audience. I probably didn't sleep much more than Keith in the good old days during the week, spending a lot of time between the shows with all my best friend and family. Great time indeed

QuoteStonesTod yep - and i'll ask the question again - is there any evidence at all that keith has even picked up a guitar the past two years? i think the real reason the stones are toast is that the man can't do it no mo'... I agree with that and it makes me so sad. The only guy who maybe saw Keith with a guitar (and we're not even sure about it) in the past two years is J

QuoteGazza The Stones WERE planning a tour. You seriously think Ronnie's antics haven't created some problems? It's what i heard to from different sources. One of those sources, working for Michael Cohl, admitted that this time things were especially complicated. I don't really think Ronnie is the cause. All he needs is a rehab cure....as usual. Nothing new under the

RS.com is probably the worst place to get news. I agree with Gazza "Certainly a lot more 'professional' than the total silence from the Stones camp post-Fiji and up until a week before their '06 Euro tour was scheduled to start whilst at the same time their website was continuing to sell concert tickets for shows which local promoters were already admitting were not going

My first memory, the Silver Train clip on TV in 73. I had never heard about the Stones before, and to be honest i didn't know anything about rnr. 3 minutes and all was said, i was a Stones addict forever. My first live xperience? 1982, Paris. Was there queuing at 6 in the morning, nothing to eat or to drink (what a stupid young guy....), stand up the whole day in a very packed crowd with ba

QuoteEdith Grove I was at the Mick Taylor 100 Club show on 28 August, 2003, and there was a guy there that looked the spitting image of 1972 Keith. I nearly pissed my pants I laughed so hard! I can understand dressing up like that for Carnival or something, but I would be more than embarassed to be seen like that even at at Stones (or Taylor) show. Dude must have been in a tribute band or

QuoteBimmelzerbott I find fans somehow disturbing who want to look and behave like Keith Richards. Those wanna be clones who end up looking like a joke instead of cool. They often wear an embarrassing leopard coat or jacket, a scarf, have unkempt hair (if there is any left) and smoke too much in order to archive some coolness. Another thing are men in their late 40's or 50's with a b

I remember that during the Licks Tour rehearsals, some people said that Ronnie was very close to die, that the Stones were unable to play, ready to cancel the whole tour and that they even didn't rehearse but played some tapes loud to hide the problem. So, nothing new under the sun, here we go again with the same old bullshits.

Troubles? Not really. But when i went to work in 1990 after the Urban Jungle Tour with painted jeans, a scarf around my head, and the skull ring which was a birthday gift from my wife, it was not very appreciated. If i had worked in a private company, i probably would have been fired.

As other says, some bands allready do that. So, on a technical point of vue, it seems pretty easy and it wouldn't cost that much because the shows are allready filmed. I don't think they would make big bucks with it, but for sure they wouldn't loose money. Bye the way, as far as i know, the Who don't earn money with those "officials bootlegs". The benefit goes to c

I have also heard something about a tour starting in Europe a few weeks ago from a guy who because of his job is in contact with Michael Cohl. At this time, it seemed to be only a project, something they worked on but far to be a done deal. He said it was especially difficult this time because of a lot of problems to solve. Doubts about Keith and Ronnie health, all the problems during the BB Tour
