Review in French The Stones' elixir of youth The Rolling Stones have been with us for over sixty years. Their new album, Hackney Diamonds, comes out after a long recording hiatus. And it's a great one. With Mick Jagger at the helm. The Stones return to save rock with "Hackney Diamonds **** The musicians deliver their first album of original compositions in 18 years

So sad really. I always read his posts with great interest. He expressed his sometimes divisive opinions with honesty and passion. He loved the band and criticised it. No blinkers and good ears. He will be sorely missed on this site. RIP Hairball.

QuoteIrix QuoteBig Al Is there a link to this 'very negative' Spin review? Wood never brought new musical dimensions and textures to the Stones like his predecessors Jones and Taylor – if anything, it was more like having two Keiths in the band.

QuoteStoneage This talk about a deadline seems to me to be a post construction. In reality the deadline was 18 years... It won't be long before we hear that the album was composed in 3 days.

Hackney Diamonds is the best Stones album since 1978’s Some Girls. Better than TY, VL. BTB and A Bigger Bang ? We'll see. I'm especially looking forward to reading why all these albums are not as good.

Yes, HTH is really hum... (very) average. Brian seems to have some trouble with his auditory system here - let's not forget his hearing problems. Strangely enough, he's very good on Let there be rock. The version of Have a drink on me is also very good. He needs to work on more melodic vocal lines and stop trying to scream like he used to.

QuoteKurt I was there. AC/DC are a proper Rock N' Roll band that absolutely kicked ass all night. Brian looked incredibly happy and Angus never stopped moving and playing. Unbelievable. Welcome back, indeed! Plus, their Pop Up Dive bar was a stroke of genuis. What a blast! Get A Look At AC/DC's Pop-Up Dive Bar from WRIF

He sounds very stressed to me, and you can hear it with every attack on his Gretsch. This is true on Riff raff and the intro of If You Want Blood, but over the whole show he's pretty good. After that, it's true, there's only one Malcolm Young, arguably the best rhythm guitarist in rock history.

Regarding Brian, constantly ? Certainly not DP. On the most demanding titles, it's true. NO autotune. Angus was just great. Thunderstruck, You shook me and Highway To Hell played in their original key didn't help Brian. 2h15 of show, 24 tracks, the longest of the band with him...he was not spared. But hé, Brian is not the perfect Keith Richards...With a guitar playing compar

That's absolutely true for me Mick, but he's not a hard rock singer, he's not Steven Tyler and he's certainly not Brian Johnson. Or I want to hear him sing Back In Black, Thunderstruck or For Those About To Rock.

Brian struggles on vocally demanding tracks like Back In Black and Thunderstruck, which are a real pain to sing. But on the whole, he pulls it off, which is a pleasant surprise. Angus is the real deal, with his grey hair. Bluffing. The band plays tight and precise, and on drums Matt Laug does an excellent job.

I don't know if someone has done the math, or you know, has a larger perception regarding the share that goes to the shows or streaming numbers, well, not everyone has got the money or the opportunit

Ah ah damn Keith, 18 years of waiting, but "album's creation fun, quick and effortless"... I think he believes in what he's saying, and so does the journalist (another blessed yes yes), who doesn't reply.

Lady Gaga contribution to this track is essential. It's hard to imagine a live version without her presence, when everyone will remember the studio version. Not to mention her missing stage presence... Frankly, and no offense to anyone, how are they going to perform this without Lady Gaga live? As for Stevie Wonder, I'm already dreading Chuck Leavell's intervention.

Longevity, a sledgehammer argument to which nothing can stand in the way. The first one journalists mention. That goes for the Stones and some others. But the quality of 2023 music is there for all to see.
