Theoretically, this song should work. Some old-fashioned harmonizing between Mick and Keith coupled with venturing into a "Mexican-influenced" sort of sound (in which the Stones briefly dabbled in previously). However, this song just does not work for me at all. Melodically and lyrically a snoozefest. Really uninteresting guitar work. Have to agree with Naturalust regarding his Gimme Sh

A tour this summer in which the setlist each show varies, with rarites and never before played live songs sprinkled in. Then this fall, they head back into the studio with Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor. Mick and Keith rekindle their songwriting partnership and we get one last classic album, something that can hold a candle to their work from '68-'83. Do I see any of this happening? Probabl

I prefer "Strictly Memphis" over the final cut, known as "Step On It." However either version would have made Dirty Work a whole 'lot better.

Just going off what I saw through Youtube, but the Shanghai show seemed pretty killer. Arguably the best version of Rambler since the 70's, and fantastic performances of Street Fighting Man and All Down the Line.

QuoteKet a question to the guitar players here, who in your opinion is the hardest to imitate Taylor,Richards or Wood ? Keith. His open G rhythm stuff is not hard to pick up. His lead however, by no means better than Woody or Mick Taylor, is the most distinct IMO and therefore the hardest to imitate. Keith plays lead with a certain (for lack of a better word) roughness. There's nothing pre

I saw them at the Oracle Arena in Oakland in early November. Great show. Really good setlist that mainly focused on their albums from the past four years (Brothers and everything after). Was surprised at how true to the studio versions they stay live, with almost every song being note-for-note the same. Kinda cool, but personally I prefer a bit more improvisation. Nonetheless, really glad I got t

Fantastic. Those Undercover/Dirty Work sessions were a very underrated era for the Stones. Would love to see these snippets released in full.

Just gave this one another listen and it stuck out to me just how good Keith sounded on this. He busted out some really nice fills. I'm glad to see how comfortable he seemed, being how rarely it is played.

I liked it quite a bit. The solid rhythm playing gave the song an extra jolt. Mick sounded pretty good. It was pretty sloppy, but I feel that adding that third guitar makes the performance much more interesting. Where you're not so sure who played a certain lick. I'd much rather see them try a rare track like this than hear them do something like Get Off My Cloud for the 1,000th time.

Great analysis Doxa. I would say the 50 AND COUNTING/14 ON FIRE tour has been easily their best since NO SECURITY. I don't know if I could call it better than the STEEL WHEELS/URBAN JUNGLE tour though, mainly because of Keith. Personally, I love his playing on that tour. He was just absolutely shredding. He doesn't possess the speed and vertical playing ability he had in those years BUT

Voted for JMI but I wouldn't mind SFM. The fact that they did the not-performed-on-this-tour-yet Loving Cup a couple days ago gives me hope for JMI, which they haven't played since 2006, excluding the Echoplex show. There's no chance it reaches the epic-level performances of 81/82, but I'd be curious to see what Jagger could do with it for the same reason Doxa mentioned.

I wonder what this means, if anything. Will we see a more upfront sax section a la the 81/82 tour? Or will we literally just see Karl Denson, Bobby and Tim Ries together on, at most, a few songs a night?

One of the better songs on GHS forsure. Better than Silver Train, which is pretty good but kinda goes nowhere. Both songs do build momentum throughout though, with Star Star doing it more effectively. Great lyrics, not trying to be poetic or anything but just very funny and memorable. Where the song really works for me is live. On Brussels it's great, as well as Love You Live. Mick Taylor do

Twenty Flight Rock Going To A Go Go Imagination Under My Thumb Let's Spend The Night Together Shattered Time Is On My Side The best versions they ever did of those songs in concert, maybe with the exception of Shattered (which is great anyway). Why the underappreciation of Still Life? People don't like the 50s numbers? The old classic
