bad pot and can't read and don't know how to equate ANOTHER best of or slight variation of with greatness in the minds of the few not the many.....I love the site too, but let's all stop pretending that we are dealing with a contemporary topic here....historic, nostalgic, old and tired--yes

Other than us, no one cares. It's over. Sure the Stones can try and sell Mercedes cars of L.V. bags to folks over 50, but that's it. Not relevant anymore. Not even that interesting. Get over yourselves....

I am saddened to even write this, but our favorite band has morphed into nothing more than a Broadway show. Getting the top dollar drives every decision. If they were to tour again, I would go for nostalgic reasons only. I would prefer to go see an evolving, maturing and experimenting band---yes! I still think and expect them to be that.....

Greatness can also come through growth and experimentation. A band needs to evolve too....

OK....lots of hostility and even name calling....BUT let's assume that they couldn't get $450 a ticket (we know no one but us cares about their new music), do you think they would play together? It is ALL about the money. The Rolling Stones are a business venture and nothing more at this point---which was really the original point.

I think the Stones have begun to actually believe that they are royalty. What is their continued connection to their fans? Sky high prices? Talk of tax evasion? Horse farms? Island homes? What have they given back to us? Where and when do we feel like we are part of the same team? Our relationship has been a long one, but I feel like "we" have never been further apart.

seriously---who cares? Do you like the music because it means something to you? or would you like it more if other lemmings convinced you the music was great? This fascination with sales is ridiculous.....Would Howard Roark love the Stones more if they sold more CDS, tapes, albums, etc?

After watching/listening to some early 80's stuff, it is clear that what we are watching now is a mere echo of their greatness.

Ok...I'll agree with you if..... The Stones reimburse me for all the shoddy technology I have been sold with a short shelf life: 8 tracks, tapes, cds etc.... I have had to re-buy everything..... so stop with this nonsense

actually, I am goofing on the new BV directive to deal with Stones' issues without being off topic....thanks for your understanding.

Would Charlie draw the Tell Me screen inside a bed post? Would Ronnie paint it? Would Keith write a riff about it? Would Mick figure out a way to charge for it?

Yes, they were VERY cool in 1973....brash, brazen, life altering etc. But can we at least admit that their most recent behavior is short of graceful. There is a way to be cool later in life too that is different than cool at an earlier age. I just don't find chasing every last top dollar, playing 90% the same songs, writing letters demanding an apology (thereby justifying the idiot), and

Doesn't it seem strange that it is the casual fan that ultimately drives the Stones" performance of ONLY hits (every single time for every single tour). The tank is on empty...fumes only. When was the last time you felt like they were relevant...shaping the music world? I still believe there is time to redeem, but not by coming back to the US and playing Start Me Up. I think it is

I think many of you are missing the point(s). There is no more creative growth. The only professional envelope the Stones have pushed for the last 3 indistinguishable tours is that of money and age. I expected that a band of their stature would NOT simply morph into a money making juke box. This has become boring. Everything they do now feels gimmicky to me. If they were creatively growing/a

Charmed Life Video (this is how Mick is using his political capital to grow?)....Keith writing to newspapers about bad reviews.....Las Vegas like setlists.....kids sing along on stage.....private shows to bankers....can we at least "pretend" to be cool? C'mon!

Please go out on top (sort of).....you are the greatest there ever was or will be.....no more greatest hits tour...if you do something together, make it different...a blues CD as suggested....if you perform, do it small with real setlists.....Time is not on your side....Time waits for no one.....This should be the last time.....

How many of you are simultaneously: 1. wondering if this is the last tour? 2. wondering if Keith was better in 82 or 07? 3. wondering if the boys have hair plugs? 4. wishing Chuck would just leave? 5. contemplating a BUNCH of new setlists? 6. listening to music? 7. wanting to place a political thread, but scared to do so? 8. hoping that Shine A Light is going to be different than every

Any Stones historians have any tidbits about this live cover? I normally think all Stones covers are a waste, but this sounded fairly good.

The demand for perfection, the critiques and the whining are reaching all-time highs on this board. Just out of curiosity, do you hold yourself to the same standards that you do for a rock n roll band?
