QuoteGodxofxrock9 I think that pic of mick is from 1989/90 It's from early 1989 when Mick & Keith (plus a tiny entourage) left the Steel Wheels sessions and went to Morocco to record (most of) 'Continental Drift' with the JouJouka musicians. It's all filmed in an outstanding BBC documentary called 'World Music'. Well worth watching so that you can see the c

Actually, in early 1962 John Lennon took the stage in Hamburg (Star Club) wearing a Gorilla suit. So there was a gap of 51 years, and then The Stones really did copy The Beatles. (Read all about it in Mark Lewisohn's recent vast book about The Beatles (up to the end of 1962)).

QuoteDandelionPowderman The way the Stones went on after James Brown, and still managed to fire up the crowd, was nothing but impressive. I remember sitting in the cinema watching James Brown and thinking..."How the heck can The Stones beat this!" But they did. It was/is amazing.

QuoteMore Hot Rocks I heard House of the Rising Sun was done in one take for a just 5 pounds. 15 minutes of setup and recording and out. Plus about 2 years of playing it most nights in clubs, pubs etc! Exactly same is true of The Beatles first album. Done in an afternoon and evening - but following thousands of hours 'rehearsal' in Liverpool, Hamburg and places inbetween.

QuoteMontrealsuperfan Guys- I will be in Australia on business in March and have booked hotel and air for Melbourne arena show on the 28th. How do I buy ticket? Nothing up on Stubhub where I ususally buy tickets. Is there an Australian Stub hub or some other site ? Thanks! (In addition to what Deathgod has correctly written....) If you have deep pockets and are, by implication, prepared

Quote24FPS Isn't the greatest irony that you're paying the most amount over money ever to see the least amount of Rolling Stones ever? Please explain. In the early years the on stage time was rarely over 30minutes then it went up to about an hour, so how come you are asserting that lucky ticket holders will see the "least amount" "ever"?

I don't think that the core problem is the 'selling' of the tickets - other than Ticketek clearly needing better sized servers, but it's the resale market. The Promoters are at the core of this. They release blocks of tickets to resellers. I will accept that there's a legitimate market there. eg Promoter releases tickets to 'Wonder Nights' and then Wonde

Quote24FPS God, it all sounds like when they were gearing up for the North American tour last spring. Wait till you were where those $99 'Lucky Dip' tickets put you. Ah, ha, ha, ha.... Given that the $99s were about half the cost of any otherwise available ticket, getting anywhere has to be seen as a good seat. And if you are referring to the allocations of the USA equivalents in t

Absolutely no luck at all for Rod Laver. And that was despite being signed in, and on the Ticketek site in two separate computers - one for the PC3 tickets, and the other for Lucky Dip. Despite hitting return at 09:00:01 and getting 'wait' it denied me any Lucky Dip tickets at all. Tried for 30 minutes until it said "Allocation Exhausted". I did capture the URL and t

Quote24FPS Brian Jones recruited them, not vice versa. In reality he recruited Jagger only. Absolutely! It's a shameful and demeaning mistake to have in an "Official" plaque. I hope that when Brian's children read about this they will protest and get it changed.

QuoteDandelionPowderman I'm not sure if they sold that many tickets. If this refers to ticket demand at O2 (and the multiply nested quotes make it hard for me to tell) then it's wrong. The demand for tickets for the O2 events was unbelievably vast and gigantic. That's irrespective of the involvement of Messrs Wyman and Taylor.

I've just got back from checking the mobile phone coverage at the paddock where the Hanging Rock concert will take place. We drove round the outside - it was too locked up to warrant a trespass. We got fine coverage with Telstra. I got NO coverage with Optus, except at the South East corner on Straw's Lane, where I got a small (2 bars out of 5) signal. I know that folk who tra

By chance I recently discovered that although the original interview was done with UK journalist David Hepworth (and was probably broadcast on OGWT, and you can hear Hepworth asking the questions, if you watch the same interview on the released version of '25x5 : The continuing adventures of The Rolling Sto

Lightly edited in the copy of The Age that I picked up, but well done for getting it published. But there was a more intriguing letter buried deep in The Green Guide. The context is that in Sunday's 60Minutes feature Mick t

QuoteWuudy Haha, I love your comment Deathgod, "cold for Aussies" I'm Dutch but living in Sydney for three years and I still find it hilarious that every "winter" the people here are complaining about the harsh weather when it's only 18 degrees and sunny. It's totally possible that during the day on March 30th at Hanging Rock the temperature could reach 30C.

Quotebv Melbourne is great, but bring an umbrella. It might start raining in half a minute. But most of the time it is great. Even with free public transportation in the city, it took a while before I figured out that one. Weather: Yes, Melbourne is (in)famous for its "Four Seasons In One Day" climate. The way to deal with that is layers of clothes. It's a fact of life here.

QuoteWuudy I was in at 4pm and could not get a tongue pit general admission seat... 4:15 and starting over I've not been able to score a single ticket at any price. So, either the proportion in the pre-sale was very small, or the site has failed to properly allocate tickets. Having read about the experiences in NZ this morning I have hope that it's the latter. I'm going to

By 4:03 I was unable to select even one single cheapest seat for Rod Laver, so on a whim tried one of the PC1 seats. None available. Most improbable in my view that 100% of a non-trivial number of top dollar tickets were sold (legitimately) in less than 3 minutes.

Quotewinos It looks like all the pre-sale allocated tickets are gone for Hanging Rock show as I've tried for all prices and nothing available. I will wait for the arena show sale coming up soon. Amazing to have sold out that quickly. I guess that it's the Frontier Touring pre-allocation that's sold. Of course we have no idea what proportion of the total that is. Hang on for
