There are actually a ton of people out there picking up a guitar and trying to emulate their hero's, unfortunately the mechanism to support this kind of thing has vanished. There are no more advances from record companies, there are no promoters within record companies to help spread the word. Yes, there is the internet to try to replace this, but the whole model of music promotion is gone

QuoteBig Al He’s a hired-hand; part of their touring ensemble. He was never considered Bill’s replacement. The Stones simply do not have a bassist as a member anymore. All I'll say is "nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors". I'm sure Darryl appreciates the positive thoughts, but he's in a good place, musically and more. Whether he's a "full member&quo

Sorry for your loss, losing a furry friend can be the worst kind of heartbreak, but the fact that they are only here for a short time is in part what makes them so special. Listen to something special, maybe it will make it hurt less.

QuoteRockman Bassist Darryl Jones on Touring Life with the Rolling Stones and Playing with Miles Davis Ivor Levene October 11, 2018 It is 10:30 on a Tuesday morning, a morning which can best be described as a “proper” English morning. You must go to England to really experience a proper English morning, the sun shines brightly, but there is no oppressive heat. There’s a crisp breeze blowi

This was struck me different. Take it or leave it. But you posted the article here for us to read and comment. I'll take it, and I do appreciate all feedback, whether I agree with it or not. I felt you were telling us you were special. LOL. I’m sorry. I need a break. I never tell anyone I'm special, because I'm not special. I'm a fan, just like everyone else here. As soon as you start te

Quote35love roller99 thank you ‘perched capriciously on the abyss’ I like Darryl. It stings a little reading VIP Savoy hotel ticket lady only the shi-shi old timers get to use? I realize you’re press, but, exclusive members only? It sounds pretentious. I suppose that's one way to look at it, as pretentious. However, picking up tickets at the Savoy has nothing to do with being "Pr

Quotestonehearted The final song to be recorded for Abbey Road was John Lennon's Because. The song was inspired by Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and featured The Beatles' distinctive three-part vocal harmonies. Yoko Ono was a classically trained pianist whose interests had moved towards the avant garde. One day in 1969, however, she played Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in

Quotemarianna The Pepper patch stands for Officially Pronounced Dead, according to the Paul Is Dead theory. Paul claimed he got it in Canada, and the patch was slightly folded in the photo. It supposedly really stands for Ontario Provincial Police. John indirectly mentions Tara Browne in his lyrics for "A Day In the Life." Tara was an acquaintance of both bands, so it wouldn't b

I've gotta say, this is one of the most outlandish posts I've ever read, it's up there with "Only Stones" and "The Diaz Brothers". Remember that stinker? Epic stuff. There were a few points of interest here though. Someone said further back that Yoko was playing piano and John asked her to play it backwards. Not that I want to drop names or anything, but I
