Charlie Watts was a man who lived his life the way he wanted, never seems to have hurt a fly and did nothing but bring joy and happiness to millions of people. We celebrate a life like this. We don’t mourn for Charlie we mourn for ourselves who go on in a world a little darker, with this reminder that we’re all just a blink of an eye.

QuoteCindyC Let people say what they want to say... everyone is different. It is too early for me to think about what this means for the band/shows. I just am thinking of the loss, and it is profound. How quaint. The idea that everyone is entitled to their opinion without being called a f**** as**+++. What a pre internet idea of communication

Quotestrat72 America is not the place for a Stones tour at the moment. There are far to many nervous nellies there at the moment. They should cancel, wait to see if Charlie gets better, finish and release the record if there is one, and then tour next summer in Europe, and then call it a day. Don't assume that the nervous nellies here reflect the general population (or potential ticket-bu

QuoteStoneage Is there no statue of limitation in US law? I mean, to come up with an accusation after 56 years have passed... There is no US law, there are 50 sets of laws. In New York, there was a special law enacted a few years ago suspending the statutes of limitations for cases of child sexual abuse and providing a window for filing such cases. Many many cases have been filed against

QuoteTheBluesHadaBaby All the LED screen talk reminded me of another thought I don't think I've seen here yet. At every show, maybe during the band introductions, I fully expect for Charlie to be projected onto the screens in a brief but live (complete with the usual annoying but minor dialogue delays) video chat with the boys and Steve, and a brief hello-how-are-you to the crowds. I doubt Mick picked Sicily as a place to spend the summer. And while the mafia exists on Sicily, I don't think Mick has much to worry about from them unless he intends to start a carting company or something like that.

QuoteIrix QuoteRokyfan Discussing replacement of the sax soloists really adds nothing to the discussion of how the replacement of Charlie Watts will affect the Stones' sound. How Charlie's replacement will affect the Stones' sound - we will hear it end of September .... True.

Quotetreaclefingers I'd say you're taking the dead horse, dressing it up in a dress and having unspeakable carnal pleasures with it. I guess you would say that, lacking a cogent response.

QuoteIrix QuoteRokyfan Replacing the drummer, the engine. Replacing the sax soloist on half a dozen songs. There's really no analogy here whatsoever, is there? The original question was to replicate Charlie's style - or to play within its own style. Therefore the analogy in the reply. No not at all. Sax solos are be definition collateral, expected to be different every night, imp

QuoteMore Hot Rocks Quoterbk I am not easily offended but the idea of a covid tongue Stones shirt sickens me more than the disease would. I'm vaxxed, BTW. Yeah your using something that destroyed lives and killed family members as a logo. Would you do the same thing as a cancer cell and morf it into a Stones tongue? Obviously. people would wear the shirt, but the idea is sick. rbk, y

QuoteNashvilleBlues QuoteRokyfan QuoteNashvilleBlues I asked this a while back, and I don’t think I got a reply. Is there a contract yet for the 60th anniversary tour? And if so, I wouldn’t that contract be similar to the No Filter Tour contract where Charlie would be replaced, if he couldn’t play? Didn't get a reply from whom? All anyone here can do is speculate. QuoteRocktiludrop Given that this was Charlies decision and that he discussed it with Mick and Keith, is anyone other than me willing to admit that this might be for the best, I've noticed Charlie has been struggling to keep pace for a few tours now, The Stones have been playing the songs too slow, it's like the Elephant in the room, it's ok to say Keith is past it or Mick's v

Quoterollmops My guess is that Steve Jordan is going to play the parts that Charlie has created over the decades, the parts that are essential to the songs but when the stones are going to play the end of the warhorses where it can get loose and crazy Steve is going to kick some ass which could bring something new and exciting for the musicians and the audience. That would be a good scenario ; re

QuoteBig Al I only know of Jordan's drumming with Keith. How is his style going to fit the Stones'? I suppose he will be studying Charlie's live technique and and will attempt to replicate it. Truthfully, I don't particularly like what I've heard from him. I don't remember when it was, decades ago, that I realized all great rock bands had a great drummer with a dis

Quoteroryfaninva Sigh. Actually I would have preferred a principled stand (from Keith anyways) saying we dont go without Charlie. Period. What happened to the "irreducible core"? But at the end of the day its big business. I recall many quotes from Keith that without Charlie it would not be the Stones, that his drumming was essential to their sound. Obviously he had no choice here,

QuoteTornAndFried With the rise of new COVID cases the likelihood of the US lifting travel restrictions from the UK/Europe and Asia before the tour begins is slim. European fans wishing to attend a show may have to quarantine for 14 days in Mexico or elsewhere before entering the country. BV/Matt Lee? If you walk over the border you can skip the 14 days, and get a free bus ticket
