QuoteMightyStonesStillRollin50 If it looks like a Rolling Stone, smells like a Rolling Stone.....then why not? What an awesome weapon to have in the arsenal. Maybe we re-name the band, The Super Stones! It's never too late to improve your product. I have always thought Jeff Beck would have been a great edition to the Stones, especially today, with so much uncertainty surrounding Keith. No

First album - Majesties (1964- '67): Young upstarts emulate their blues and R & B idols, evolve into writing their own great songs, stray from their roots and dabble in psychedelia. Brian Jones sadly self destructs. Beggar's Banquet - Exile ('68 - '72) Stones have evolved into their own truly unique identity and song writing genious. The glory days. Goat - Black and

First in a 10-part countdown series about the rock ’n’ roll-era visionaries who invented the musical vocabulary we’re still hearing today from rookie bands and veterans alike. Mythology would have it the Rolling Stones came to North America as the unkempt, scary-looking bad boys your teen daughter might run away with, never to be heard from again. An alternative to the clean, poli

Mick, Keith and Charlie have all gone on record since the last tour stating that if any one of those original three members died or become incapacitated, they would call it quits and the Stones would be over. Of course I suppose they could change their minds but I wouldn't want to see a version of the Stones without any one of them.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteThommie Most of us would love a last tour and are crossing our fingers for that. But to me it seems that touring at the end of the year is out of question. In that case they have to start rehearsing this summer which doesn't seem to be possible. Can we possibly, possibly hope for rehearseals in October/November? If theese work out well, can we hope for some gig

Well, the Stones post on Facebook today shows the band thanking fans for "liking" their facebook page. The post states it was filmed in NJ and it certainly appears to be in a rehearsal environment. You can see Charlie's drums surrounded by plexiglass on which song titles are written. Something must be up...

Quote71Tele Quotestonesdan60 . Imagine the Stones at the height of their commercial popularity firing Jagger and trying to continue with - say - Rod Stewart or somebody else. The fans accepted Hagar and then VH goes and dumps him for somebody else, etc. Yeah, that would be as crazy as the Faces playing without Rod and getting someone like Mick Hucknall to sing in his place.....oh. Not quite

Quoterocker1 Those of us who frequent a board like IORR can pick nits about the technical accuracy of this article. But I really think this is a great piece, and am glad to see such a positive shout-out for an album that continues to offer surprises for me after 7257 complete start-to-finish listens. Exile is my favorite Stones album, even though I can somehow also acknowledge that it may n

Cut to the chase: The world would never have had the greatness known as The Rolling Stones without both Jagger and Richards. They BOTH deserve props. But it's the way they balanced each other out musically that made for the Stones magic. Let's not even get into their personal feuds. Their solo albums prove the point. Mick needs Keith to bring some grit to Mick's penchant for the

I do hope Eddie's OK, but Van Halen fell apart long ago. Not many bands can last if they keep changing lead singers, especially when the first one - Roth -was considered a huge part of the band's image and persona. They're damn lucky they kept a large fan base when Hagar came in. Imagine the Stones at the height of their commercial popularity firing Jagger and trying to continue

From: Exile On Main St. Turns 40 I gave you diamonds, you give me disease. On May 12, nineteen hundred and seventy-two, the greatest rock and roll album by the greatest rock and roll band, smack dab in the middle of the genre's golden age, hit the streets. Recorded in a fog of mystic fumes, bad vibes, drug hysteria, bohemian hedonism, and sweltering temperatures in the dank and

This may mean nothing, but knowing how the Stones have generally operated....Mick Taylor has had much shorter hair lately and had gained a lot of weight. I can't help but speculate that the Stones camp has urged him to lose weight and get his hair looking more like it did when he was a Stone. Preparing for a Stones tour? I wouldn't count it out...

This would be a ballsy move for the Stones and I'd love to see it but I doubt we ever will. Personally, I would say post-'81 songs as so many people say they haven't made a decent song since Start Me Up. One can fantasize... 1 - ROUGH JUSTICE 2 - YOU GOT ME ROCKING 3 - SAD SAD SAD 4 - SPARKS WILL FLY 5 - HOLD BACK 6 - ALMOST HEAR YOU SIGH 7 - OUT OF TEARS 8 - THEIF IN THE

I think that a lot of people are missing a point that has impressed me having followed the Stones and Keith for decades: One shouldn't take him too seriously. All the stuff about knives, chasing someone with the blade...I don't seriously think Keith tries to portray himself as a bad-ass. To me it just seems like he's got a rather warped and sometimes morbid sense of humour and it

QuoteMax'sKansasCity "Saint of Me" is a great song, great on record/CD and great live in concert nuff sed I'm with ya. For me the song's greatness truly comes out in live performance. The studio version is good but a bit sterile, perhaps because Keith didn't play on it. I think the live versions rock!

OK, I don't HATE hearing them live even though I've never been to a Stones show without hearing them. Regarding the point that even the best latter day Stones tunes don't deserve "classic" status because they didn't sell and become hits, I feel that's missing a huge point. Earlier Stones tunes became hits for more than one reason. They were good songs AND "hit" radio was playing that style of music back then. In more recent days the Stones have done lots of son

Quotebrownsugar86 The'78 tour was the beginning of a change in Mick's natural onstage moves to forced showmanship in my opinion, finally changing for good by the time of the '81 tour. As others have already said the big stadiums definitely contributed towards the change too. My live favourite of his moves is the '75 tour with all the swaggering around the stage loosely and
