what ive always loved about the stones is the ability to change styles, sounds, textures and images from one album to another. they reinvented themselves often in the 60,s, going from the early rough sound of the blues, rock, roll and soul, through to the more classical sound of the 1966-67 period on to pop, psychedelia and back to playing blues and rock in their own mould. to the bands cre

i quite like infamy. its a bit bluesy and wouldnt have sounded out of place in the early-mid brian jones era. its not nearly the worst stones song as some suggest.

i started my stones collection in 1987. first it was a tape of love you live, then a tape of rolled gold, bought tapes as it was fit for the walkman, but loved to buy the vinyl record as it was great to show off your record collection and the sound quality was so much better. then cd,s came out and i started to update my stones collection in the late 90,s. today my collection is a mish

black and blue is ok, nothing more. not enough songs and some weak efforts. good sound quality to the album, if it had another 2 or 3 decent songs on it, it would have been regarded as up there with the likes of some girls, goats head soup or a bigger bang.

he sounds like a very talented musician to have been part of so many great songs by various artists. seems such a waste that he is barely known in todays musical circles while people like robbie williams are lauded for their "services to the music industry"

love you live was the first ever stones album i bought in 1987. so i had nothing to compare it with, nothing to confuse me as to its real quality or lack of it either. when i listened to the album i had a mixed reaction to it, felt the stones were a bit sloppy on most performances but felt a real aggression and excitement to their music. was also aware they had recorded around 200 songs

seen them 3 times. would liked to have seen them many more times but lifes ruled by circumstances so it didnt happen. amazed to see them the first time in 1990, because it was such a surprise they were going to tour again, i thought they had finished when i got into them in 1987. a bonus to see them twice, 2nd show edinburgh 1999. the icing on the cake was 02 in 2007. love to see

ive asked this question before about how we break up the years. ive always wondered myself what era to put each year in. i disagree with the 3 way split of 17 years because effectively the goalposts would move as time moves, so in 3 years time we would be talking about 3 sets of 18 years, thus moving the first set on a year. i would split each era as such. 1962-67. the brian jones era

according to sources i use on the web and only including rolling stones compositions the mid point of their recording career was 1974. they have made approx 300 songs. and reached 100 around 1969. 150 in 1974. and 200 by the end of undercover. these are approx times and only constitute when songs are actually released not recorded. amazingly though is the amount of actual

had the pleasure along with many other stones albums to listen to its only rock and roll not in realtime when they were released but over a short space of time just after i became a fan. got into the stones in 1987 and spent a great deal of 1988 and 1989 buying up almost 95% of thier back catologue, i was aware its only rock and roll didnt receive the accolades of previous material so i really wa

i recently updated, increased my rolling stones dvd, cd collection. by buying from amazon 2nd hand. no complaints and i paid about £3 average for each cd or dvd. i have in excess of 45 cd,s and a dozen dvd,s and paid only a fraction of the price that i would pay for itunes collection. anyone know where i can get bootlegs on cd, at reasonable prices

some great pre aftermath stuff. dont know why it bores them, a lot of the early stuff is better than the usual setlist of start me up, honky tonk woman, tumblin dice, miss you, before they make me run, gimme shelter, midnight rambler, you got me rocking. the stones were already big long before the setlist warhorses were ever recorded. would love an entire gig of pre aftermath songs.

jumpin jack flash. the promo video which i saw on "the rock and roll years" depicting 1968, i saw it in 1987 and was intrigued not only by the sound but by the way the band looked, they seemed to have this menace that others didnt have, was hooked from that moment.

no reason why at least one quarter of the set cant be post 1981. they do around 22 songs. why not reduce the late 60,s set. and break it down as such. 1963-67 era. around 5 songs. 1968-72 era. around 7 songs. 1973-80 era. around 4 songs. this leaves 6 from 1981 onwards. this could be rotated and not the same every gig. they could easily choose from start me up waiti

im not a teen but became a stones fan at 19 during a period when the band had a lot less exposure as they have had in recent years. it happened in 1987, and basically i liked the image of the stones, loved watching clips of them on tv and also i heard that they were "the greatest rock and roll band in the world" i was a big U2 fan then and thought no one would ever be as good, so i
