QuoteMathijs QuoteMainman Basically, whenever TNJ was playing Stones songs to himself, he was finding that his sound was a great deal better than anything Keith had been acheiving on record. Consequently, he tracked Keith down and introduced him to his own particular version of 5 string open g tuning. If you believe what's written in Life, you'll believe anything! Bollocks. Rich

With respect, isn't it Ted Newman-Jones' method and not exactly Keith's?

Backstage at a Rhythm Kings gig (in Brighton, I think), when asked whether he ever read any of the Stones message boards, Bill Wyman apparantly muttered something to the effect that he "liked the little owl that sometimes come on". Am I right in assuming that Barn Owl had a picture of some kind on his signature?

"Go Now" by the Moody Blues. Is there a "dutch" version of it out there anywhere?

With the average concentration span of a concert-goer down to about three-and-a-half minutes, the Zep remain as probably the only band in the world still able to get away with long, meandering, drawn-out renditions of songs that are as pointless today as they were on the day of their release.

Quotetatters QuoteGazza As said above, the logo gets worn by kids who could barely name you more than one band member or a couple of songs. They certainly arent the sort of people the band are trying to attract to their concerts as theyve outpriced them. What kids are these? I don't seem to see too many of them. Sometimes I'll see a young celebrity wearing the logo, and it makes

QuoteKeefan QuoteMainman ...At a stroke, they killed punk, destroyed prog rock, were responsible for Miss You, and spawned a billion or so very bad dancers (me included). Never Mind the Bullocks came out AFTER Saturday Night Fever. Punk was just getting started then...the Bee Gees didn't kill punk, they just incited the punks to play louder and raunchier. I like the Gibbs early stuff an

Quotetatters QuoteGazza QuoteMainman Has the famous tongue & lips trademark become more famous than the Rolling Stones themselves, and if not, then how long will it be before it does? More to the point, just how big an influence has this logo been on the band's post-seventies career? Huge, as they're more of a brand name than a band these days - and the degree of priority given

Since the Grateful Dead started putting a load of thier gigs on to the internet about nine years' ago, and the likes of the Who and Pearl Jam started to release CDs of their live shows, the whole mystery of bootlegs began to disappear. In fact, the very last bootleg that I actually purchased was a Stones gig from the Voodoo Lounge tour.

There was a very good article on the Bee Gees in the UK magazine, Uncut recently, which outlined how, in their early days, their record company had ambitions for them to fill the void that was soon to be left by the Beatles. The talent was always there, but their seemingly overnight evolvement into the biggest band in the world (at the end of the seventies) was, to say the least, absolutely in

Don't care much for Ferry's solo stuff but in a Moxy Music context, the guy becomes transformed. Saw them in 2001 and they were superb.

The two best ROCK books ever written are The Dark Stuff and Apathy For The Devil, both by Nick Kent and each with a substantial coverage of the Stones. In fact I would not be too surprised if I were to discover that Keith's latest tome was built upon much of Nick Kent's coverage of the Stones in the 60s and 70s. Kent's is written far better, mind.
