QuoteAmsterdamned Quote71Tele Mathjis: Good call to mention Jesse Ed Davis - a great player (even joined Faces at the end). But did keith really spend that much time with Ry Cooder? I thought he mostly avoided him. I got the idea he learned a lot from Rye,to state it politely. Keith recorded Ry, he didnt have to be around evey time Ry played something.

Well I dont know, in late 66 early 67 he was on top, still over the top and insecure but by all accounts the relationship with Anita not only inspired others (Dylan, Keith), it gave him a huge push. He was on top. When she left with Keith he quickly disintegrated. Acid, booze and downers didnt help but he really went on a death trip after Anita. Without drugs I guess he would have tried to &quo

Well I believe he lost himself after losing Anita to Keith. GPN sounds a like a rough demo of Love is strong. Even if Love is strong is based on Wicked as it seems.

I guess Gram contributed a lot between 1968 and 1972, Ry Cooder too. And Taylor. But the point is, Mick's part in Exile is really underrated. Shine A light, Let it loose, Soul S. , TD, IJWSHF are some of their best songs. Mick's work in the 70s is underrated.

Mitch, what you should do is put all the heads at the bottom of a pool, floating or maybe around the pool and let a photographer (me) take pictures. Or just put them in the garden facing some meaningful direction, maybe a fence. Maybe under a bunch of rocks. That's art, the head itself is grotesque.

When did he collapse? Or is it the PR staff calling it a collapse. It sounds weird when he plays the piano, maybe something happened during that part.

QuoteNedKelly I've always wandered what good Ollie brown did to the Stones sound or live performances? I never really got that. To me he just fuzzes op Charlies playing. I think Ollie is the least significant side musician The Stones have ever used, at least on stage. Sorry but you're way off here. . Ollie was very important and IMO really made some of the songs in 1975/76/77. IYCRM e

Its not a bad album, because it's a Stones album, but as such its not great and I dont care for it anymore. That doesnt mean I havent played it I just don't listen to it anymore. It lacks something and I always felt it

Well if you are for freedom of speech then let me enjoy mine . actually Im not joking, I think Cant you hear me knocking is good but not one of the great ones. Keith has come up with much better riffs, the minimalistic Hot Stuff, the perfect IYCRM, the solid Dance l

GHS is not that good, a bit boring isnt it? B&B is so cool. Let it bleed too. The best is probably the first or possibly Decembers children. Between the buttons is cool. Some Girls aint bad either. Thru the past is great. My vote goes to High tide and green grass.

Quoteterraplane The Beggar's Banquet toilet cover is just dumb. Actually you're right. It's too obvious and tries so hard. It doesnt have to, the music is so rough theres no need for that sleeve. The white jacket would have been cool. Yes, it would have been the Stones doing "White album" but with another inner sleeve. Maybe one of the blurry outtakes from the phot

I know it sounds stupid to claim that B&B was their biggest effort in the 70s but if you listen to the whole album, the production, the musicianship and the songs it's not a bad album at all. Too short but had they included Worried bout you, Slave, and maybe one real rocker ("Never stop"?) it would have been a classic. And I gotta say, to me Sticky is not a great album, I n

Its interesting because I really like some of their songs and consider a few, maybe ten, among the best rock songs ever recorded while others are just embarrassing. His style was necessary and although sometimes too much of an act really opening doors. He had a clear impact on rock singers like Jagger. And Morrison himself was more than deeply inspired by Brian Jones. Talk about incestous relatio

I think her heroin addiction is the reason she stayed with Keith. Security and knowing he loved her. Brian loved her but he was an equal in a passionate affair. Keith seems like a younger brother who adores her.

IMO Black and Blue is their second best album in the 70s. Some Girls had Miss you, Shattered and B of B, Exile is great and so is half of Sticky. Black and Blue is a true Stones album, sleezy, bluesy and cool. I listen to it more than any of the others.

QuoteClaire_M Stephen Davis: "Life, Death, Legend" - very well researched, however, the author throws his credibility into serious doubt by claiming that Jim was bisexual. It doesn't offend me, but it's such obvious b.s. Are you sure about that? I found it quite believable. It is also interesting to see how Jim Morrison absorbed Brian's persona throughout his life an
