Oh brother, here we go again. Brian as genius saint, maligned and abandoned by those jealous, satanic Stones. No mention of what he did to slowly estrange himself from the others to the point they had no choice but to go on without him. Brian has become such a cult figure. It would be great to have a real, truthful documentary about him but we'll never get it. How a talented individual screw

They've got to release something. They always do. Do you think they'll go silent until 2024? Maybe Mick will get out there and appear with somebody else. Scrape the vault. There's still Abbatoir and Knebworth from '76. Unreleased 1972 live album. Get something like that out there. Keith and Mick will do new interviews and tease the new album and tour. It's worked for 60 y

Only saw glimpses of him in the States. Might have gotten more coverage here if he'd come along later. We have a lot more channels now and we get Graham Norton.

Quotetreaclefingers Is it too early to revive the "Sons of Stones" replacement theory? Stephen Wyman retired from the group, and refuses to return. They considered expanding it to "And Daughters Too", but Chloe and Emma Taylor can't be found, and Seraphina Watts only wants to play to Charlie Parker records. Brian's five illegitimate children have no interest. That

I would imagine the Stones, as always, control what is played. They also don't care for overexposure. Everything they do has a reason, promoting a tour, a new release. You know they're not going to dump a new album in the middle of the night. There'll be new interviews with Keith and Mick. They'll talk about Charlie, the cuts he's on, and how it's different working w

Can't disagree more. Undercover is one of their worst, and Dirty Work is no treat. Babylon sounds dated. Between the Buttons is slight, compared to their other sixties work. And of course Satanic Majesties is a bit of trainwreck, with some redeeming tracks. If they do release a new album they will have passed many legends on longevity, including the imperial Duke Ellington. Of course he p

Good question. Ya Yas. Still Life. El Mocambo. Even Flashpoint's got a couple decent tracks. (Factory Girl for one). And yes, Brussels. I don't remember if they played live tracks when the Stones had a dedicated Sirius channel around the time of a U.S. tour. Maybe those programming it put little faith in the average fan caring for anything other than studio cuts.

Just release it. They got nothing else. They don't have to run out and promote it to sell vinyl discs, where the real money was. If some member of the group is in lesser physical shape, it can be hidden in a video or two. And if a tour doesn't happen immediately, so what? If there are any standout tracks, it will be new to audiences. Yes, another greatest hits package, or recent liv

QuoteNilsHolgersson Yes, after they replaced Charlie I think Ronnie is definitely replaceable. I always thought they could easily swap him for Jeff Beck since they looked almost identical. Well, not anymore ofcourse. But it would look a bit sad.. just Mick & Keith and touring band members.. but people would still buy tickets for the shows. It's still "The Rolling Stones". Y

QuoteStonedRambler The announcement is legendary by now. I couldn't imagine a Rolling Stones concert without it anymore. It's kind of embarrassing at this point. The band chunking out the hits over and over for mucho dinero is long removed from the dark, dangerous, super energized band that first earned the moniker on stage in 1969. You could still say it fits due to there being no

Quotebv After 61 years of highly successful performances by The Rolling Stones, some fans do still think they know better how to do the live acts... I have more of a 'why bother' mindset. Their current sidemen can't measure up to the Stones legends. Most of them have passed on. Bill ain't coming back. You get what you get. If you still have an itch see what is presently pres

They should sell replicas of truly class Stones t-shirts going back to the early 70s at the concerts. Or would that let them know that their current batches are lame?

QuoteMore Hot Rocks Mick all the way. Maybe Brian from early on. Brian couldn’t never do what Mick does live on Midnight Rambler. Brian stopped development a few years before he passed Exactly. Brian came out blazing and petered out. His harmonica playing, like a lot of his playing, was hypnotic and haunting. Mick took that and kept going with it until he reached a level beyond Brian. Of course

I have a brown t-shirt with a gold lock illustration on the front in the form of the Stones tongue. Bought it at a flea market a few years back. It's from the No Security Tour. Don't know if it's bootleg or not, but someone's selling one for $124.95 on ebay. What I'd like to have is a Steel Wheels shirt from the Los Angeles gigs where Guns and Roses opened for them. Gu

QuoteMisterO I have said before every tour, that they should open up with "Time is on my side". Hope this time it becomes true!! That already had it's emotional day on the 81/82 tour. It was felt at the time that they had gone on forever, but they were defying time.

QuoteGerardHennessy Has anyone got ANY information about the content of the proposed new album? Anything at all? Number of tracks? Who is/might be on it - apart from Paul McCartney? I have heard very little about its content. Most of the discussion, for obvious reasons, centres round the possible release date, tie in with the tour... No one REALLY knows anything. It wasn't until I began hearing Satisfaction on something better than a mono car speaker that I understood Bill's contribution to the song. Bill is a counterpoint to Keith's riff. The song simply isn't as potent without that bass line.

QuoteGerardHennessy Quotempj200 Quote24FPS They'll have to come up with some gimmick, something new, something for the obligatory 'surprise' song high up in the setlist, before they grind out the hits. Ghost Town is played out, as are all the numbers for Blue and Lonesome. It'll either be a new song, finally, or an oldie they never played, or one rarely played. They are

QuoteHairball If they tour, wonder if they'll ever play Living in a Ghost Town again...or Brown Sugar...hoping for both. Hard to believe it's been nearly four years since the latter was last played in Miami back when Charlie was still holding down the fort. As for Ghost Town - as good as a tune as it is, it might have wore out it's welcome with it's pandemic vibe...might b

Please correct me if I'm wrong, which I know someone graciously will, but didn't Bill and Charlie have like five-percent each or something similar of Jagger/Richards? Bill supposedly negotiated it and Charlie, grateful, gave him a painting for doing so.

Interesting story. I get the feeling of a Syd Barrett/Brian Wilson kind of mental instability. Plop them down in a time of excess drugs and the car crash is around the corner.

Quoterbk It was the best of tours, it was the worst of tours. Prime example of the former? Ft. Worth, Passaic or Detroit. Prime example of the latter? Cleveland (AKA the worst Stones show ever performed. In a literal Dante's Inferno sort of atmosphere. I was at the Cleveland show. Horrible. Not the band, they were ramshackle and funky. But the vibe was horrible. Keith looked like dea

I'm really glad people took the time to give their reasons. Nashville Blues says he's only seen them three times, all since 2015. I guess that's the version of the Stones you know on stage. I've seen them since 1978, and felt that tour I got to see the real hardcore group, the danger, the magic. And the Ladies and Gentlemen Blu Ray of the '72 show looks and sounds like a

I could have fun seeing an Elvis impersonator. For some reason it feels sad to see a 'Fab Four'. There's some Will Lee group that does Beatle songs live that we never got to hear on stage. They don't pretend to be 'Beatles'. Jeff Beck performing A Day In The Life was amazing. Seeing a Fab Four feels like being on a discount cruise ship.

Does anyone really think they're going to deliver the ground-in-the-dirt warhorses in a new, novel, electrifying way? Does it matter if they start off with SFM, or JJF. Such rubbish. The songs are Jagger/Richards for a reason. Listing Keith's 'stand out' tracks and not mentioning Ruby Tuesday. One of their greatest songs that was wholly his. (I know, maybe Brian contributed something.)

Like much of Voodoo Lounge and ABB, there are vague wisps of former songs. Past glory. But this is a mess. Even Charlie sounds like he's phoning it in.
