QuoteLightnin' QuoteDandelionPowderman You think Taylor is just as inventive and fluently today, Kleermaker? If you take him outside the framework of his current band (which is too limiting and stale for him) you'll see he still has what it takes. You could even argue he is a better guitarist today than 30-40 years ago. What can be deceptive is when he goes onstage after a 3 month la

Quotecrumbling_mice I can play the chord sequence to Bye Bye Johnny, it's just a nice easy CHuck work out, and I can play most of the licks....it's the damn intro I can't nail - it's been driving me crazy for weeks. I'm listening to the Brussels version. If anybody can tab that intro I'd be ecstatic. The notes just dont seem to exist on my guitar!! I don't j

Quoteskipstone I've done piss poor keeping up with the Olympics this year. Is Sunday the gold medal mens hockey? Are the Olympics over? It's almost March. It'll be almost 100 degrees F in Vancouver by Monday the way the planet is globally warming up according to all those scrotum stroking global warming advocates. Meanwhile it's still colder in the South than it is in half

Quotegripweed sounds good C, Hey, where can I get that T Shirt ? Palookaville in Santa Cruz, 2001. I'm lucky to have found the table. Just kinda walked around a corner and there it was. CDs and T-shirts - $10. They had a huge poster in a glass case out in front. Very flattering old Taylor pic. Must have been 6' x 8'. Couldn't get it.

Here's my Rambler. Camera ran out of memory, but it's almost all there. Just did the components, not the entire song.

QuoteChrisM Dig your Historic funman. Do you make much use of the Bigsby? And the pickups aren't stock so tell us about it! Hey ChrisM, don't use the Bigsby much, but I do use it. The guitar came with BurstBuckers, which I hated, so I bought Tim Shaw's (1980) and put them in myself. It's got the fat neck, which is a nice change from my other Les Paul. Soul Survivor was p

I don't use tabs myself. No patience. Here's a stab at Soul Survivor. I like Fen's CYHMK. Beats Keith's live version, IMO.

Keith's Sympathy For The Devil solo on Ya-Yas is truly great, as far as Keith solos go. But I really like the little segment he does on Angie (1973 tour of Europe). When the song goes into the Dm section: But Angie, I still love ya baby Everywhere I look I see your eyes There ain't a woman that comes close to you C'mon baby dry your eyes . . . It's in every version of

QuoteSmokey Quotefuman 2 epic 8 minute Taylor splooges in the 21st century. Seems a lot more like guitargasms than splooge Not quite two sides of the same coin But to each his own By the way Fuman, nice performance of IYRWTBMF "guitargasms", yeah, that's a better description. "IYRWTBMF" Did you see it? On YouTube? I thought more people would post vids of

I hope I didn't sound as if I don't like them. 2 epic 8 minute Taylor splooges in the 21st century. But the hiccups, just sayin . . .

Waaay too many hiccups in the 2 versions that Carla released. I'm thrilled to have had the chance to hear them, but the mixing should have prevented these hiccups from public consumption. That was the opinion of a huge MT fan, from back when Carla's Winter was first released. After many listens, I have come to the same opinion . . .

To each their own I guess. To my ears, the beautiful and complex Mick Taylor melodies make the Stones music. It's always interesting, and constantly changing. As for Ron Wood, HIS solos are all squint and grimace, over and over, and that doesn't work well with my speaker system. Sure, he made a lot of money joining the Stones, but I listen to music and don't spend a lot of en

I think the 1970 Brown Sugar's are fantastic, because of the excellent extended solos MT plays. Some have >2 minute outros . . . As for Bowie's spiders period, I remember lots of girls in high school walking around with that same make-up. Bet that wouldn't be tolerated these days . . .

I don't think so. I was told there is some official material in it, so they won't allow it.

There is only one 1969 LIV, because I prefer the non-slide solos for LIV. I did include Hyde Park, because I wanted to represent 1969, and it's an interesting solo from Hyde Park (IMO). Plus, I needed 41 Licks to out do the recent Stones release 40 Licks. I got the idea after FenderT made his YCAGWYW Solos disc (Leave Preaching To The Preacher). Been toying with the idea of making a M
