yet another one. Why do they bother?

24FPS hypothised that ''Maybe Andrew Watt flat out told them that they needed better bass'', and perhaps that is indeed the case. The best Stones songs always have fantastic bass that really lift them - adding colour, groove, fattening up the riffs with a counter-melody. The last few Stones albums have really been lacking in that department - Love Is Strong is a prime ex

Oh! That is a thing of beauty! Any more of those 'deconstructing' tracks? I'd love to hear Tumbling Dice. By the way, my main wish for the new album is that they get to recording the vocals like this again, almost everything raggedly double-tracked, lots of rough harmonies, buried low in the overall mix. I think the Stones lost something of their essential sound when they starte

I was very pleasantly surprised by both those tracks (GC and DOY),crunchy, loads of percussion, the sax, and Mick's voice seemed to be a little more relaxed the usual lately. I hope the released versions aren't overdone with studio gloss, but given how nice Angry sounds, I don't think this will be the case. (Anyone else hear themselves singing Bob Marley 'I'm willing a

I actually only listened to the first couple of second of each, the quality wasn't great, and I think I'll wait to hear them in context in the album (Witness style!)

Thanks, Marco, I stand corrected. I love what they've done with these images, Keith's Talk is Cheap era clip with the cig is another highlight. By the way, Putty mentioned an article talking about the making of the Angry video, could someone repost it?

As I predicted several days (and multiple pages) ago! Release the celeb-filled track in the run up to the album release to keep appetites whetted. Hahaha! Yes, that kind of why (rather cheekily) I asked. Most people seemed to love GT, 10 out of 10, so I was wondering how Angry rated - 11/10? >< I, for my sins, wasn't overly thrilled with GT, but I certainly love Angry. Although not as extreme as Witness (who is waiting to hear it until the new album is released), I haven't yet listened to Angry on headphones accompanied

Wait! Why did my post turn into a tiresome 'list' exercise? I wanted to know why you preferred of Angry and Ghost Town, and why. The main reason I ask is because I know most people here were absolutely over the moon with GT when it was released, and I wanted to see how you thought this new single compared with that.

Who is Ove Tingvall, and what insider info does she have? I don't disagree, mind. In order to keep up momentum they will almost certainly tease another track between now and Oct 20

Am I allowed to do this? Both much-loved tracks, but which is your favourite? Mine is definitely Angry, I prefer its overall sound, the messy mass of guitars, vocals and handclaps in the second half, and that grungy bass. What do you think?

I love Keith's baselines over the years, his rhythm and feel, I personally find Darryl 's work with the Stones (which, to be fair, is all I'm familiar with) to be really dull, chugging on the root note. Perhaps that's all MJ and KR tell him to do, but Keith brings such a groovy flare to his bass work that I don't hear in Darryl's lines. Perhaps I could rephrase my

Harlem Shuffle, what part of the conversation has blown you away? Genuine question, as it seems to me that (excluding one or two comments) it has been a pretty civil discussion, with various opinions shared.

I really like the song too, more than I expected to, and especially the second half, but I agree about Mick's vox, I wish they'd return to the (long gone) trick of making his vox less prominent in the mix, maybe doubling them up raggedly.

I didn't say it's hard to make a 7-min song, I said it's hard to make a long song worth listening to! I'm not sure the Stones have many 7-min songs in their oeuvre (excluding live, obvs)

That's true, Rising stone, those hair metal vids were tacky and embarrassing, and that's how I feel about this element of the Angry video.
